1. PS. emailing the drummer might be seen as weak, just keep your powder dry, carry on, and I'm sure he'll hang himself. If he crits you again in front of the band, give a big BWAHHAWWHAAW laugh, and just say 'Your only saying that cos your trying to get your mate in to play' Speak and expose the unspeakable, then he has no-where to manoeuvre
 2. Don't soil any bass up this idiots ronson. You'd probably find it will only give him pleasure. But your bass in the case, and twat the prick over the head with a hammer.
 3. Just came across this... http://www.reddit.co...das_priest_ama/ edit: Title
 4.
Guess who will be there...?
Is it Albert Fennell, the producer of The Avengers, The New Avengers and The Professionals?. Is he bringing Brian Clemens?
 5.
I bet they quietly stuffed a card through your door and quickly legged it.
I live in a flat in a large converted house. Plod can never be bothered to put the mail through all four doors. I'm number 1 at the front, so all the letters get stuffed in my box . Royal Mail very kindly gives me all my neighbours bank and credit card details! How do you think I'm funding this build?! Only joking, of course. But seriously, they do
 6. Two parcels have attempted to be delivered to me today, they're both at the sorting office down the road. No bloody patience!!
 7.
Sure, I can see it - it's very valid. But - like a raunchy tattoo - will you live to regret it..??
You know what, I went to bed last night with this running through my head, and the colour I woke up with this morning was black with the white guard. Who'd of thought it?
 8. I'm still on duty at the sh7t farm, so not going to be able to make this. V sorry.. Another time I hope.
 9.
Are you open to colour suggestions..? Vintage white with black pickguard. Always looks class with maple. And would be the opposite of the pic in your OP. My 2p!
Thanks, It's in the pot now. Although I've been giving much thought to the pink
 10. Very pleased to announce that BC's KiOgon (John) will be supplying Greasebucket magic 'twixt Pup and Jack. Opening post edited
 11.
Some great advice above Looking at your build spec I'd offer 2 particular requirements for the pots, CTS are without question the best BUT check your rear routed cavity is wide enough for them & make sure you get long enough threads to go through the body. The hardest part is soldering to the pot bodies without a proper iron, you need to heat it enough & quickly to avoid damaging the pot's internals. If you need any more advise/info please feel free to PM me. Cheerz, John Edit: Your 2 posts above came in while I was typing must type faster
Thanks John. PM incoming
 12.
Hope some of that helps! Best of luck, and remember: keep it simple stupid!
It does. Thanks for that
 13.
Kiogon is yer man. Just get one of his super duper Greasebucket type kits. the work is done for you, pots, input jack, cabling etc. just drops in,no soldering required
That sounds like a good idea.. Thanks for that
 14. I want to wire my own custom build.. http://basschat.co.u...43#entry1750943 Although I know absolutly nothing about electronics! The only thing I can do is solder stuff together, and I do own a soldering iron. So I have some questions... What pots would I use? What do the different values mean? Are all makes of pots the same, or are some better than others? Resistors and Caps.. What the hell do these things do!? What do the different values mean? Which are the best to buy? I have read about 'Paper In Oil', 'Orange Drop', etc etc What does all this mean? Wire.. plastic shielded, cloth shielded.. Does it make a difference? I read something about silver wire (as in the metal, not colour), does this add anything? Copper shielding, what's that all about then? Seeing as this is a one off build, I want to put the best of the best into her.. Any recommendations about which components to use? Can anyone recommend a supplier? I want to but the Greasebucket circuit in, does anyone have a fool-proof, idiots guide to doing it? Believe me, it's not possible for me to know any less! Thanks in advance
 15.
Do whatever you want matey!! It's your own bass, so you can call the shots! My own New build Shell Pink mid 50's style P-Bass will be completed on Monday - can't wait!
Been loving your thread, and it's got me thinking outside my usual choices
 16. After reading about Kevin's '50's Pink P Bass Refin http://basschat.co.u...hl__pink%20bass I've been thinking about a shell pink finish. Here's a mock-up.. What do you think? I think it takes a man to be pink!
 17. Some more pics of Marc's work.. String tree.. And ferrules.. All turned by hand
 18.
The goggles! They do nothing!
You, Sir are Rainer Wolfcastle, and I claim my DM5
 19.
This ^ Mart has hit the nail on the head. Absence makes the heart grow fonder (or is that absinthe?) so liquidating your current kit roster and seeing how you feel isn't such a daft idea. I entirely agree that it's a crap time to sell. On t'other hand, it's a great time to buy. Whatever you "lose" on the Bongo and the Peavey kit, you'll more than "win" back when you buy a Lakland and an OTB + Barefaced rig. Or whatever.
Aye. Down-size. Def get an OBT, Barefaced are so light you think you are on steroids when lifting them. Find a cheap P Bass in the 'for sale' section here, and get back to brass tacks. I'm not in a band, but most my social life is bass related and I love it. Have a break, and see how you feel.
 20.
I love Joy Division. Another massive influence on me....not so much in style, but in getting the bass audible and upfront. Part of the reason I own a Ric - I was gutted when I found out Hooky's was a copy!! New Order, I can take or leave a lot of it - just too 80's for me. First two albums - agree - great stuff on there, but after that, good bits less and less for me! JD remain great for me because of the lack of rules - it was unique....and Martin Hannett was a total genius. Without him? Unthinkable. Here's a great piece of JD for y'all....
I remember seeing these guys posters on older lads bedroom walls. I always thought Ian Curtis looked so old, with his shirt and tie. I look at his pictures now and he seems just like a boy. So sad he took his own life so young.
 21.
I think he means New Order. I saw them in Glasto in '87. They were fantastic. I doubt it. Joy Division ceased to be in May 1980.
22.
His influence on pop/rock has been minor at best.
Nonsense.
