1.
Exciting stuff Sean. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Subscribed!
Thanks guys.. Aint life grand! Had confirmation from Warmoth that the neck can be sent to Marc Rutter. A concern has been that two outfits are making me things in another country, and obviously I want everything to fit together here with no fuss. I think Marc getting the neck first will cure my worries. I also have to state the following... Communication from Warmoth has been excellent http://www.warmoth.com/ Communication from Marc Rutter has been excellent http://ruttersguitars.com/ Communication from TV Jones has been excellent http://tvjones.com/ Communication from ALS has been excellent http://www.luthierssupplies.com.au/
 2.
Remember that if the seller marks the value of the item down, should it get damaged in transit, the marked value is all you'll be able to claim.

Depending on where/how the item was purchased, wouldn't that be more the sellers problem if it got damaged before it reached you? i.e. you'd be entitled to a full refund (item not as described/not fit for purpose) and they'd have to claim with the courier for the marked value?
No, it would not be the sellers problem if the item is damaged in transit. If there is a non-transit fault with the item, then that's a different matter. A seller will insure goods to a maximum no greater than the declared value, as the insurance is part of the postage. You cannot ask the carrier to insure greater value than the declared value.
 3. Bass players always influenced me in other ways. For example, I always wanted Lemmy to be my Dad, and I wanted to look like Steve Priest. I did not take up the bass because of being influenced by any one player, I only started playing because I wanted to cop-off with girls. My high-school band needed a bassist, so I picked it up and made it up as I went along. Like much in my life, I found the job no one wanted to do and did it the best I could do. But, I realised I loved the thing and started to understand how the bass really drives music. The first guy I really wanted to emulate was Stuart Morrow and I was lucky enough to set up his back-line on a UK tour he did with 'Loud' in '92. He is a top geezer and a blistering player, and most unassuming of his skill. But, to this day, I'm not mad keen on any 'name' or forgotten player, but to name some names... Hmm.. Here we go.. Jake Newman... He made me understand I have more going on than I give myself credit for. He is a consummate professional and a great teacher. I have to get back over to him soon. Nigel Dale.. If I passed on knowing that I could groove like this cat, I'd have died a happy man.
 4. ..Pup just been depached from TV Jones, and Marc thinks it would be a good idea to have the neck sent direct to him to exactly match the body
 5.
Is the SG really more common than the 335/345/355? And what do you class this as?
You say potato, I say potato, but this is one hell of a beautiful guitar.
 6.
It's not. It's a Les Paul.
but It's also an SG.. As in Solid Guitar
 7. Just had confirmation from Warmoth that the neck is being built, also the tuners are on their way from Australia.
 8. The value is openly declared on the shipping label for all to see. This is what customs use
 9. I've bought 3 guitars into the UK from the States, and every-time they have been assessed differently. I know there are some people on the forum who seem to have a sliding scale for this thing, but it's not worked out the like that for me. But, there will be three things you will have to pay. VAT, Import Duty and a handling fee to Parcel Force for them assessing and paying the VAT on your behalf. You can appeal the VAT charge, but you will have to provide evidence of how much you paid, and in my experience they have always applied VAT at a lower rate in relation to the amount paid. If you appeal, the first thing they ask is 'how much did you pay?', before they tell you what value they assessed the VAT at. I would add 20-25% onto any price. 25% being harsh, 20% OK, any less and you have been lucky. The truth is, is you will only get your answer when she arrives in the UK and you'll get a letter through your door from Parcel Force telling you what's what.
 10.
Thanks for the reply Billy. I've got some good money coming in a month or two, it will be hard to get me not to buy that Bass after playing it. So sweet. Have you seen the Reverse Jag body 2012 Model? Not so sure about the upper-register access, and it's $1500 US more!
After much deliberation, I've decided to build my own (-ish!)... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/182246-la-cabronita-porazzo-custom-precision-build/
 11. Great Bass-ing. Just listened to him play it live and he blew me away. Not that familiar with Rancid, I'll have to check them out.
 12.
Nice one and a cool build in the making! If you don't mind telling - How much roughly will your build come in at? Cheers, Jon
Thanks Jon, I might post up a break-down of everything at the end, but that is a might. Anyway, I've just ordered the stuff today, I'll have to wait and see what happens when things come into the UK. The other unknowns are body finishing, electrics and building. We'll see. Cheers!
 13.
Hi billyapple, Just wanted to point out the pickup hole shape & actual pickup shape are going to be OK as your list has 2 different shaped bits listed? Cheers, Jon
Yes. Thanks for that, my typing. The body will be routed for the TV Jones pick-up Opening post edited accordingly.
 14. Hi Folks, Following me falling in love with the Fender CS La Cabronita Porazzo Precision that I played down in GAK lately, I thought long and hard about buying the bass. At the end of the day, I could not justify the outlay, but she is one hell of a nice guitar. I started a whole heap of research into getting a copy built. I came across the name Marc Rutter from Rutter Guitars http://ruttersguitar...m/About_Us.html in the USA. Marc is almost unknown on this forum, in fact I started a thread asking if anyone had heard of him, and very little came forth. However in the Telecaster and Gretsch world his hardware and builds are highly regarded and very well respected. This is a Marc Rutter Replica La Cab Bass.. I was just about to commission a full-blown build from Marc, but the final price this end was getting to the point where I thought I may as well buy the Fender, Although I think Marc's bass looks better, certainly the bridge which comes in for much criticism on the Fender. I decided to source parts separately, and maybe to build and finish myself. Although I'm getting some quality stuff, so most likely will leave it in the hands of a pro. This will not be a cheap build, and most of the parts are coming fron the USA, so expect posts about tax and handling charges, but it will beat the CS price. Maybe at the end I'll post up all the costs, and hopefully it will have been worthwhile effort. I also hope to have a bass better than the Fender. So, following an afternoon off work today, I'm pleased and proud to announced that my credit card has taken a hammering for the following... 15.
Hello- Found this Forum/Thread while sufing; Registered from across the pond to chime in. I played this bass a few hours ago, and love it. Of course it's overpriced, but now that it's a discontinued model, I have an very good price put forward on the table from a CS Dealer. I may take the leap. I have an also-discontinued Gretsch SpectraSonic Bass with TV Jones Thundertron pups; the're awesome. This (FCS Borracho) is certainly a take-it-or-leave it thing; like a Rolex watch, the FCS is Grail to some, over-priced/over-hyped stuff to others. I totally dig this bass, and agree with Billapple above who tried it recently. Great feel; great tone, even unplugged. Played it through a vintage B15 as well, and WOW. For me, all it needed was the bridge lowered, and maybe a lighter-gauge string set., otherwise... For my Old/New School R&B, it would make Joss Stone and Shemekia stop and take notice, and make Etta (RIP) smile in the heavens. KILLER Instrument, I've paid as much for Sadowsky's Laklands, there's 'Wicks even more, on and on. You either get/want this bass... Or not. I get it, I want it. BTW; both times I've visited England and a little of Wales, Ireland too- Absolutely wonderful. London is the most exciting/awesome City I can Imagine, liked it much better than Paris, Rome, etc. Southern England-So beautiful. Ireland- Dublin 2nd only to London. The people were the BEST, can't wait to get back there again (from Sunny SoCalifornia, my home). Maybe this time I can check out some bass gear- only saw some instruments at Harrod's while my girl shopped- meh- I mean some REAL Bass shops, instead of all that amazing history and castles and such!! (-: Cheers- (Oh, beer and ale GREAT, food- Well... if any of you get to El-Lay. drop me a line; I'll show you how Good Food is done)! (Taco Trucks!)
Thanks for the post Eljay, and welcome to the forum
 16. Bump for an old thread, but it's still for sale. Sorry, I've lost the pic, but it's all as it should be. Just google MBox Images!
 17. I wonder what the uproar would have been if he'd stuck to his conractual obligations and played the mininum agreed. 20 mins perhaps? For those who don't like The Boss, well, don't see him live. But for the fans, I think they got value for money (on I guess a very expensive ticket). I think he should have been allowed to finish his song, and to say good night. Springsteen's a major star, and this just looks like a backward London. 5 more mins? Big deal
