1. I'm loving this thread. It's an interesting sales technique. Turn up, don't introduce yourself, try to sell something and then slag off members who make pertinent and cromulent points. Jeez, I spent 18 months posting up boring old build threads before I plucked up the courage to call anyone a ****. Good luck with the sale... I'm sure this wont hang about for long!
 2.
Nah, Sting in Quadrophenia
...Sting in anything...
 3.
I'm looking forward to 'Who's Your Least Favourite Mod?' Hee, hee.
Oh, that's easy, him out of Secret Affair
 4.
Prog suite might be pushing it a bit, doesn't that require at least one member of the band to play eight keyboards at once?
Well, I'm not so sure.. Only the one keyboard, but prog, surely? And the best way to finish a number, courtesy of Mr Scabies.. 5.
No one sticking up for Sid yet?
Only in-so-far as you couldn't really call him a bass player in the first place. But in defence of Mr Ritchie, I once worked with a fella who knew him before heroin took a-hold, and he said he was a really nice guy.
 6. In no particular order... Silddx Big Red X Clarky erm... that's it. edit: Oh, yes, me imagining Discreet's Custom P being played by... er.. Discreet, Yes, That'll do. edit: And Sir Jake Newman.
 7. I saw this bass again in GAK this weekend. Thought i'd try it, but when I picked it up is was a bit of a lump. Too heavy and didnt feel right. Not for me
 8. Vintage Sunburst.. The black looks a bit plasticy. Or hang on for the new pro-classics.. http://www.epiphone.com/News/Features/Features/2012/Epiphone-Thunderbird-Classic-IV-PRO.aspx I'd get the Alpine White one. Or you could save up and buy the real-deal... I'm considering letting mine go to fund a new project. Sorry don't know much about Android tech
 9.
I don't know where you got that information from but in my opinion Punk from 79-82 was just as popular, as the punk that preceded it. Bands like Angelic Upstarts, The Dead Kennedys, Sham 69, The Adicts, The Cockney Rejects, Black Flag, The Anti-Nowhere League, the whole Oi! movement etc. I could go on for ages. Just because it wasn't on TOTP doesn't mean it wasn't popular. And if you argue that it was, then I think you'll find there was a fair amount of punk on TOTP after '78 too.

Damn right. GBH,Discharge,Crass, the many bands on Crass records,UK Subs,Violators,Vice Squad,Rudimentary Peni,Subhumans, there's a big long list. One could argue that after all those Art School Punk bands gave up,that is when Punk became the grass roots movement it was supposed to be.
+1 I agree with with both of the above. Which leads to an interesting debate.. Who or what is punk, who owns punk, is punk, music, attitude or ideology? The most punk thing I've seen was Jah Wobble and Keith Levene play Metal Box In Dub a couple of weeks ago. I finally understood punk is not just about noisy guitars, but taking what is around you, refusing to accept barriers and making something completely new... and that, folks is ongoing and never ending. Alternatively, you could confront your prejudices and have a listen to the Cockney Rejects' 'Oi Oi Oi' It doesn't get much more 'street' and 'real' than these guys... 10.
Absolutely f***ing awesome!!! Dick Venom & The Terrortones were in brighton for "Stay Sick" at the Blind Tiger Club. Fantastic people organising it who very kindly sorted us out with a drum kit and bass amp after our carefully planned transport arrangements fell trough at the last minute which meant we only had room to bring instruments, guitar amp and drum breakables. Great venue with a decent sized stage and a good PA. Fantastically appreciative audience including Basschat's 51m0n and billyapple (thanks for coming guys!) who gave us a raucous reception and crazy dancing that rivalled the enthusiasm of Newcastle's Meow Club. There was also a man in a plushy tiger costume... All this added up to a blinder of a gig which included Mr Venom dancing on the bar and attempting to be carried on the shoulders of the Tiger. The night ended with Tequila shots and mad dancing to 60s garage punk 45s. billyapple took some photos so I'll post a couple up later... Once again thanks to the Stay Sick guys who know how to put on a great evening and look after the bands. Every promoter should be like them!
+1 X Loads.. A super ace gig, completely hat-stand... Mine's a treble Mr Venom!... I think the pony-tailed rear-head is 51m0n...
 11.
To call it a circuit is a bit much. It's basically just a resistor and a cap added to a standard circuit to create a sort of simulated high pass and low pass filter to prevent muddiness. Highway 1 styleee.
Thanks for that. It did sound great, but not a huge 'sweep' from bass to treble, if you get my drift. I'll pass your comments on to Fender inc. about it not being a circuit.. The cheeky buggers are marketing it as 'The Greasebucket Tone Circuit'! And not just that, they've trademarked the word 'Greasebucket' so any time you say it, you have to pay Fender inc an undisclosed sum. Still, I think they're nicer folk the Rickenlawsuit
 12. Our very own Big Red X caught live with Dick Venom and the Terror Tones in Brighton last night.. They were storming And the band... Nothing a spell in the Army would't cure! (Edit) Couldn't see the drummer... here he is..
 13. Awesome gig! Completely mental... Loved it
 14. I had a play on a Fender Cabronita Porrazo Custom Shop P Bass today. In spite of the price, it was a wonderful bass. It is advertised as having a 'Grease Bucket' circuit. Can anyone tell me what it is, and how it differs from a normal P circuit? Is it genuinely something different, or just a marketing buzz phrase? Sounded great though, but not a huge variation in bass/treble from one way t'other. More like it was a mid shift than bass/treble (to my uneducated lugs!). Thanks in advance
 15.
What's up with the finish on the upper horn?
I think it's a glitch on the photo.. not there in real life
 16. Just had a play on one of these in GAK, Brighton today. To put it quite simply... call off the search. Abso-bloody-lutely lovely. I've never played anything like it before. Great neck, quite narrow at the nut, but a deep U shape that feels great in the hand. Lovely balance, great shaped body, arm-cut and belly cut just right. Nice and light too, we put in on the scales in the store and it weighed in less than 9lbs..8.5lbs maybe The Pup sounded ace, very very sweet. The finish is superb, matt black, lightly relic'd. I'm not normally enamoured with relicing, but this one is just right. The neck finish is light, fast and easy going. I don't agree that this is a parts-bin bass, it seemed very well thought out and constructed, and I'd hardly call a TV Jones Thunderblade 'parts-bin'. She is by no means cheap, but it depends what you want out of life, yes, it is a lot of cash. But, if I was to add up all the money I had spent on bad decisions, then it would be greater than the spending on this good decision. To put it very simply, I thought this the essence of what a bass guitar should be. Very simple, feels great, looks great and sounds great. Very tempted.. Hmmm.. Thanks to Kris at GAK for being a chap, and not the usual ball-ache 'well, sir, this is a very expensive bass, are you going to..blah blah blah..' An afternoon well spent
 17. Well, excuse me. I missed your post
 18.
Gaye Advert wins on the cool front.
What was she playing? Cool as..
 19. Did Ric's have the same cache then as they do now, and anyone old enough to know the price of a Ric in '76 compared to a P? The only thing I can think of is that Ric's or maybe Ric copies were far more common than Ps'. I read Paul Gray (Hot Rods and Damned) couldn't stick P's and preferred Guilds and Ric's. I also remember something about McLaren got the white P for Sid as part of the whole Rock n' Roll image. How about this. most of the bands have just got a deal, got an advance and got on the telly for the first time, and do you know what, their fist choice was a Ric? BTW, I thought John Cooper Clark knocked them all into a cocked hat
 20. I'm already there, bringing 1 hopefully 2. What time does the service begin?
 21.
Yes.
+1. That's it
 22. I bought a DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive from Chris. The kit was exactly as described, no problems. Very well packaged, excellent communication and prompt delivery. Highly recommended.
