1. Nik bought my Custom NR T Bird. Just a thoroughly excellent chap and an experience that reinforces why the BC Forum and Marketplace works. All hassle free, just as it should be. Thanks Nik!
2. But the 3 Wheeler has the S&S X Wedge engine in it, and I think S&S more akin to Spector. S&S porn ... Phwoor!
3. Davie bought my Wishbasses. Great comms and no hassle. Smooth and easy, just how it should be.
4. All they did was unplug it, then plug it back in!
5. W'e're back. Everything go OK?
6. Yes. And maple laminate neck-through with maple wings and two pups, I know you don't want to hear it, but they share the same platform. There is Ric, and Spector, which is basically a Super-Ric ;-)
7. That wasn't my point. My point was you said they are from 'different design points' and they are not. If you read my comment I said 'If they had a mind to' and they clearly do not.
8. The Spector and Ric are similar basses sharing an identical platform, as in laminate Maple neck-thru, Maple wings, twin pups, parallel neck with a variable profile. The Spector is what Ric could've evolved the 4000 series into had they had the mind to do it.
9. I use Imgur. Are you at work, it might block them.
10. Completely unique custom built NR Thunderbird. The last of the Bachbird body blanks made from mahogany and a lovely rosewood board. Bach also supplied the two piece bridge. Routed to vintage specs by the Bass Doc, with a hand-made bone nut, vintage white scratch-plate, TRC and control cover. Pups are '66's from Steve at the Thunderbucker Ranch, along with one bevel surround and shim. Tuners are Gotoh Resolite GB528's. Vintage white top-hats with a matte white finish and set-up from John Williams at Noiseworks. £500 firm, collection from Padworth, West Berks. Delivery within 50 miles. I've not got a case for this and would rather not courier.
11. Dead loud and dead good. Bomb-proof Peavey kit with a bomb proof wheeled flight case. Loud, clean, dirty or both, also does quiet. Springy reverb, chorus and vibrato, all with a 4 button foot switch. £150 collected from Padworth, West Berks or delivered to around 50 miles.
12. I got into these a while back, but fretless is just not for me. Also it was combined with my budding interest in luthery, as in I was going to sand it a bit and oil it, but none of it went anywhere and this bass is as it is as it arrived from the States. Bloodwood body, Maple and Purpleheart (I think) neck, with a Persimmon board, Kent Armstrong Pup and not much else. Yes, no truss-rod, but solid as fook. You can either get on playing the thing and enjoy the tone, or refin it, and if you have a look on 'tinterweb folk have done some pretty lovely things with these. Price is collected from Padworth, West Berks or delivery within 50 miles. Sorry, will not courier.
13. On the block is my very rare (I hear only 10 made?) EAD Foundation 212. Very light use, VGC, unmarked as far as I can tell and comes with cover. It's far too good for me and an imminent house move means stuff is getting shifted. Sorry, but won't courier and I'd rather you came and tried it out. I'm in Padworth, between Reading and Newbury. Also, you'd need to bring an amp, bass and leads, as all my stuff is in storage. I can deliver in the Berks/W Berks/Hants/Oxon locale, 50 mile radius type thing. Specs from EAD.. SPEAKER COMPLIMENT 2x12" Bass drivers 6.5" mid driver & HF horn IMPEDANCE 4 Ohms POWER HANDLING 500 Watts RMS (1000 Watts Peak) CROSSOVER FREQUENCY 800hz & 3.5 kHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE 40 Hz to 20 kHz SENSITIVITY 102 dB SPL WEIGHT 57 lbs / 26 kg WIDTH 20.75in. / 52.7 cm HEIGHT 24.60in. / 62.5 cm DEPTH 17.12 in. / 43.5 cm
14. Had this handmade by Brookwood in the States for stupid money, then promptly sold the bass I was using it with! Anyhoo, this is the ultimate Rock n' Roll, Rockabilly, Country, what-have-you bass-sling. Runs from 54" to 59" and 3.5" wide. Beautiful red and tan and conchoey all over in VGC! £45 posted in the UK or collected from Padworth, West Berks
15. I got into these a while back, but fretless is just not for me. It was also combined with my budding interest in luthery. I started to refin it, but none of it went anywhere and the bass has stood half done for a while now. All the bits are included, but in a box somewhere. I'll add them in when I find them, but Kent Armstrong Pup, Markley strings and Grover tuners. Ambrosia Maple body, Maple and Purpleheart (I think) neck, with a Persimmon board. If you have a look on 'tinterweb you can see the magic people do to these, or it's relatively easy to put it back together and play it. Price is collected from Padworth, West Berks or delivery within 50 miles. Sorry, will not courier.
16. Very good condition, with little use. Just had my EAD sitting on it in the spare room for a while.. Will be given a dust! £35 collected from Padworth Nr Reading/Newbury.
17.
About 35 years ago my girlfriend, now wife, lived in a bedsit in Crouch End (London) and the bass player from Bad Manners was living in the same house. (I never met him and I wasn't even playing bass in those days).
Probably about 20 years ago I was drinking in a pub in Stoke Newington where there was a poster advertising Bad Manners as the headliners for the pubs' New Years Eve party. I didn't go.
18. Ask the organisers to give their pay too you. Then they work for nothing and you get paid. I wouldn't bother replying, bin it.
