Fancy meeting up for a drink after our respective gigs? My mate and I will be at Ally Pally till 11 ish, doable? We're bunking down at The Comfort Hotel, Finchley. Were both big PIL fans
I've just PM'ed you! I'd love to meet for a drink, but I think the Wobble gig might finish later than 11, as the door is 9pm. Then I'm on the night bus to Hendon. I'll send you my number and play it by ear -
I think they look fantastic (no surprise there). Pity it's short scale and only has 4 strings though.
Darn Tootin'! Proper '50's Sci-Fi look. I'm thinking they are short scale to prevent neck-dive, with the short top-horn http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GRETSCH-G6199-BILLY-BO-BASS-GUITAR-THUNDERTRONS-MADE-JAPAN-SIGNATURE-MODEL-/150822723554?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D150816659843%252B150816659843%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8648242973899472795#ht_1700wt_698 I emailed the guy from this sale, it turns out he is in Derry NI, and puts down London as a location so folk are not put off! He just sold one, and gave me the fellas user name, to contact him to get his thoughts. I'm wondering if he's on BC?

I bought a new one in white on Ebay (Incredibid?) I did find it a bit weak sounding, but what did it for me was I thought it very neck heavy. Returned it, and got a refund no bother. Do look great, tho.

TONK! I've Won! Thank you very much Basschat -
I haven't played one but I love the look of them, They remind me of my Dearmond Jet Star.
I was having a look at the pic of you and yours yesterday. They are similar, and I think the Billy-Bo looks ace. How does the Jet Star balance?
-
I hankered after one for a while but the short scale and the long price put me off
Aye, you're not wrong there. I've been wondering why it is so pricey? If it was a bit less, then maybe there would be a few sales, but I think the cost pushes it to the wrong side of the decision making boundary.
-
Anybody own one of these, or had one, or played one? I cant find much out there on them. I know there is one on Ebay at the mo. Just wondering your thoughts on them if you have played one?
-
Please remind me what time the start is?
3 posts into this debate and you have already descended into personal attacks. Congrats. Listen, this is about the interests of the people who run basschat. The reason people don't like advertising on their websites is that they are hijacking their audience for their own personal gain without permission. I'm sure if they did ask them it would be fine but just sticking this advert up without any permission is like stealing advertising space from the banners. Obviously you don't own a website so this is not a concern for you but that doesn't mean it is ok. Certainly is.
There is the 'Affiliates Forum' where business can ply their wares, admittedly it does say 'small business', but all the same, perhaps to save arguments, this post should be moved there?
You can get a train from Alexandra Palace straight into Old St..
Is that the one that terminates at Moorgate? I think it runs there during the day, and in the evenings terminates at KX, but if it does, even better! -
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

I think those Jetstars look well cool -
I'm not a FB fan, but have to admit this is a pretty cool prize... certainly beats a pack of strings. There is always a trade tho, and Warwick get to do a little data harvesting. At least they are up front about who they are. Anyway, Warwick Official, how about cutting out the middle-man, and sending the prize straight to me? Just mail it to 'The Shahi Kebab House', Slough, UK. I'll get it sooner or later

I can't believe this one slipped by me for so long! Ab-so-f*cking-lutely gorgeous. You are indeed a man of style and taste. She is right in every department. Hats off to you and the Bass Doc Enjoy
I'm wondering why not one person has commented on the counterfeit Fender decal. This is very unethical, plus, why can't the guy put his own name on the bass he made? It's like putting a Opal logo on a Mercedes. Sure, most of us could tell it's not really a Fender, but after it changes hands a couple of times, someone is going to get taken. It's not only extremely unethical to make or own such a bass, it's highly illegal. I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it in an internet bass forum. I'm just wondering what's the purpose of using counterfeit Fender decals? Anyone want to explain why someone would be proud of this when they should be ashamed?
If you took the time to read the OP, you would see that that the neck is a Fender licensed Allparts product, and in being so is in no copyright infringement from Fender. It is not unethical, illegal, counterfeit or otherwise. The reason being is because it is a Fender licensed product, and licensed by Fender themselves. And is at perfect liberty to wear the Fender logo, because it is a part licensed from Fender, by Fender, The Musical Instrument Company from North America, and indeed world-wide. I hope I have explained this clearly enough for you to understand. I'm sure you are being contentious for the sake of it, instead of basking in the reflected glory and joy we all feel for Discreet and his fine bass. I suggest you seek out an Ebay member called 'shippers' and highlight his work in your own thread, you may find one or two BC'ers in agreement with you. In the mean-time, leave this thread to the grown-ups.

I'm still in. What's the story, when and where?

Here you go.. It's not official Matamp, It's a pity, because it would have been better to have Jeff talking than having to listen to the dreary soundtrack.. I've seen it in Artist supply shops, or hobby-craft places. I'm not sure it's the best stuff, though because it seems to be used to fix stuff temporarily. I know Jeff at Matamp uses ordinary PVA glue that you can get from most DIY and Builders Merchant type places. He applies it with a decorators roller.
You can here the Decade here (perhaps you knew that already): http://www.lakland.com/ac_decade.htm
Yes, I'd had a listen the other day, but I've had a more detailed look around the site, and it does say that all Skylines are now plek'd. Thanks for the help

I need to get into a band, as I'm sitting around doing nothing, and that's a crime. I play punk, rock, folk and I'm very open minded. What I would really love to do is some experimental African stuff. Play with a pick and some finger style I have loads of experience playing live, but the last few years have been a bit quiet, so I'm wanting to get back into the swing. Got my own transport, P Basses, a TBird, 115combo and a full Matamp rig and live (outer) west London.

Ah, B*gger, sorry to have missed this, could have made it too, as was off work today. Keep us posted when your next about. -
OP beware...they are awesome, but not an easy thing to sell on. Maybe they break the mould a little too much for some eh

I think there's some truth in this and I do tend to use my Precision much more, especially at gigs. I'd really like to play it in a 60s psychedelic type band - there it would I think be ideal. However, they are fantastic and slightly unusual basses.
I think this is good advice, and thanks guys. Everything that people are saying so far sounds right up my street, but I don't want to pull the trigger on one without trying first, or buying unseen on Ebay. I'll keep my powder dry, and one eye on the shores of Brighton!
