1.
Not that I'm really in your area (if I was you would be welcome to try)... I did buy & sell my passive Humbucker here. Both the single coil and humbuckers are a great sounding bass. Personally I preferred the single coils (and the dark star one I had even more). The necks are awesome, as long as you like that "slim-jazz-neck-thing" although the US laklands have a different feel to the skylines. This has been relisted and still didn't sell..might be worth contacting the seller? 2.
I've got one in Brighton too with single coils and no preamp. You're correct that humbuckers version comes standard with preamp. If I recall correctly, the passive humbucker one was a special order direct from Lakland - I can't remember who it belonged to and couldn't find it with a search. Mine actually came direct from Lakland too, it was one of the first batch in November 2008. Anyway, if you're keen to try the single coil version you'd be welcome.
Thanks for that. I'd come down this weekend, but it's the BC'ers London meet on Saturday, and it's my mates turn for the kids. If I understand correctly, yours is a USA made model, but with Indonesian spec? I've looked up 'Plek', is this done to all Laklands, or is it just a USA thing? Plus, after having her for 4 years, how is she holding up?(and the cooker too!)
3.
Just had a really lovely gig with Kit at the Half Moon in Putney. Clarky, thanks so much for coming! And for taking pics! Great to see you mate.
The gloves, the gloves! Do you remember a '70's kids TV show where there were puppet spiders animated by people with black gloves (finger bobs?). You could do a whole bass/spider puppet show type thing. Nice pants
4.
Hello! Bit of a coincidence this! Literally just got one today! Sorry to further your gasing, but it sounds amazing! not like anything i've ever played! Not even sure how i'm going to use it yet. It's an active one with humbuckers, but you can turn it into the passive model with single coils with the flick of a switch. I'm in Brighton if you ever fancy a go! Jay
Coolio, and congratulations on your purchase. I do get down to Brighton a bit, as my mate lives there. Might be visiting in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the offer. As I understand the passive is SC and the active HB, but there was a guy selling one on here a while back saying his was an HB'ing passive. Did you find out all of the options before buying, as I was looking for a passive HB'er? Please post up your thoughts on her, especially how you find the neck, and where did you buy?
5. I'm getting itchy fingers for a new bass, and GASing for a Lakland Decade. I'm hoping that she would fill the gap between my PBass and TBird. All I hear about Laklands is good, but I've never tried one myself. Guitarguitar have one in Glasgow, which is the passive I'd be after, bit I'm a long way away in London. Does any BC'er in the London/Bucks/Berks/Surrey region have a Decade I could try, without all the associated guitar-shop pressure that comes with a try-out? Also please post up your thoughts and experiences of all Laklands. Thanks in advance
6.
You have got to be kidding!!!! I'm at Alexandra Palace that night watching Slayer, Sleep and melvins. How far away is Shoreditch to Ally Pally?
It's about 6 miles, maybe 1/2 hr in a car. If you are on the train, get the overland from Ally Pally to Finsbury Park and get the Victoria Line to Kings Cross. Then from KX get the Northern Line to Old Street. If you get your connections quick enough it would take around 45mins, an hour tops.
7. Thank god we are up and running again. I was having terrible withdrawal symptoms, shaking, salivating, and I usually get that from the 'Basses For Sale' section. I'm glad the evil hackers have been foiled in their attempt to pass off cheap Japanese copy's as real Fenders, which leaves me free to post up a new topic.... [s]Worn out old rotos[/s]Vintage Flats[s]free[/s] £45 plus postage BC'ers only [s]ya mugs[/s] Cheers Guys!
8. Are these Pup's single coil or humbucker?
9. Saw this shiny beast in action last night with Nige hanging off the back of it. I've never been much of a fan of the Warwick aesthetic, but this beast is awesome looking and awesome sounding, and Nige was rocking it big style-ee. Wonderful.
10. It's on muthafu*ka, you can't turn this off. B'dip b'dip b'dip. TONK!
11. Bump for a great bass. Have you posted a price tho? Plus I have an original Mike D scratch plate in white (parchment?). Not sure of a value, but it's available.
12.
Doing it wrong with the 1 amp: Credit: http://www.charistal...tography.co.uk/ And the lovely Amy Dawn. Also her legs.
I hope she didn't leave any crusty streaks on that Sound City.
13. You'd think with his money he could afford a new bass. His dad used to deliver my milk ya knaa!
14. I remember being in a field in Kent during the summer of '75 when Steve Hillage took a piss on these cabs. I remember him shouting... 'There's your wealth... a wealth of f***ing piss!' And I know all this is true, because I wrote it down in my jotter around '78.
15. Where abouts in central london will you be? Would you be able to drop it at Paddington station on saturday?
16. Why not. All being well, should make it
17. Very lovely. And love the minimalist scratch-plate
18. *Belch*, sorry, GAS. Lovely bass, very lovely indeed.
19.
Thanks for the info dannybuoy and billyapple - learned something today!! If only it was black.....
Shaggy, you are in luck. I've got a very special tin of black [s]emulsion[/s] tolex paint. Very rare and exclusive, only half a tin left, should cover most of this lot. Yours for 75 quid.
20.
Did you start a new thread? Here's the title... Ladies and Gents, The 1st Annual London Basschat Picnic.
Oh, hang-on, this is the new thread. Durr
21. Pedant Alert, Pedant Alert! Technically the Matamp 212 is not a sealed (or infinite baffle) cab. A sealed cab is where the entire box is made with no removable panels, then the drivers are mounted on the front of the baffle, so the only access inside the cab is by removing the drivers and going through the hole. Matamp do this with their 410 bass cab. You will see on the 212 that the drivers are mounted on the rear of the baffle via a removable panel to the back of the cab. Although the panel is very closely fitted, and yes, the cab is not ported in anyway, so most likely behaves in a similar manner to a sealed cab. Like I said, pedant alert! I only say this as I have two of them paired with my Matamp GT200, and yes they work and sound wonderful with all the lovely valve goodness. Also, did you know that Matamp fit Celestion drivers to their 212's as standard? Eminence are fitted as a special order with an up-charge. The money you are asking for the quality of the rig means someone is going to get very good value. I can't see this hanging around for long.
