So you have to use a Thunderbird or you dont get the job
[sub]HYmmm.. Saxon maybe. But Judas Priest have an all out Gibson (V, Paul, Thunderbird) thing going on.....[/sub]
Ian Hill never used a TBird, He used a Jazz up to the mid '80's, and now uses Spectors. Saxon were always a white P band, well Dobby Dobson was anyway. -

I don't think there is anything wrong with being required to use certain gear, or look a certain way. If they are an established act with a look, then fans would expect them to look this way. It's no different from being expected to wear a suit in an office, or safety boots on a construction site. If the band has been upfront about this, then go for it... There is a lot worse you can do than play a TBird. How about considering Matamp for old school tone and thump? As you can see, I'm a little biased! Anyway, my outside guess for the gig... how about Sisters of Mercy? -
Yes, there is a replacement for the 2 point bridge: http://store.hipshot...ct_detail&p=326 By the bolts/nuts on the E, A and D saddles, I'd say they were home-made, which makes the G saddle the real one.
I'd agree. the finish on the G saddle and bolt is the same as the rest of the bridge. The G bolt looks specifically machined for purpose, where the other bolts are counter sunk heads for using in wood. I should imagine all the strings were off at one point and the three bolts and saddles fell out and down the back of a settee somewhere. A similar thing happened with the original bridge on my TBird, without the strings holding it together, everything just fell out! Fit the Hipshot, you wont be disappointed.

I had a Sunburst one. Great tone, the pick-up is very lively, has quite a bite. Very nice neck, and a good chunk of rosewood. I wouldn't worry about any sig stigma, Mr D is not mentioned anywhere on the wood. The only draw back for me was I found the slab body much too heavy.

Love the TBird logo, but any chance there could be something else than polo shirts. I have to wear one with the company badge on Mon to Fri, so Polo's feel like work. Tee shirt or a cap maybe?

Must see places for musicians visiting UK
the midlands in general.... Birmingham, nottingham, Derby, Leicester... All very unmusical and very boring. Oh and Liverpool, scum capital of the UK
!! Bit harsh, eh? No music from the Midlands? Not like that for me when I hung about The Mitre in Stourbridge, or JB's in Dudley, or even the Barrel Organ and Edwards No. 8 Bar in Brum.... It's been a few years now, but cracking times, with top people and bostin' music. Some of the nicest, most generous people I've met have been from Liverpool... I'm not up on the music scene there, but I've heard a rumour one or two bands from the town scraped the top 100? -
I had fish and chips in Edinburgh for the first time 15 years ago, fulfilling a boyhood dream - no really. I hope the shop is still there.
Was it the Rose St. Fry? The best Haggis and chips, ever. So good I had it twice in a row.. all with salt n' sauce.. the business. -

Dodgy for-sale pictures... do they bother you?
Billy Apple replied to Mylkinut's topic in General Discussion
What really gets me is no pictures at all, or 'pictures to follow', or 'I can't upload pics at the moment', or 'my camera needs recharging,' or 'my phone camera's crap', or 'aliens stuck my camera up the dog's bottom,' and so on and so forth.
When I read that kind of thing, it just makes me think the sale is moody -
Top banana, Ewan. Can't wait to see her finished (and in the wood, maybe?). Have some super-secret news, will keep you posted

Aye, it's OK, but, I like the other version where they're dressed in swimming cozzies
these mbox 2s run superbly on Macs through USB. I'm running one at the moment and they're great little units. Good quality AD conversion, MIDI in and out, S/PDIF in and out and it'll take any level of audio signal that you'd care to throw at them - Mic, Line and a handy DI input for going straight into the box from your bass. You've also got 48v phantom power on both mic inputs too. Have a "no brainer at this price" bump on me.
Thanks Paul, appreciate the post. Following your earlier post (and my nippy reply ), I have had some dialogue with the Mods. This sale was stopped and initially they said interfaces were not allowed. Then they said Interfaces were OK, and the thread was unlocked. It seems hardware driver software is OK, but standalone software is a no-no, regardless of licence status.
I don't want to start a flame war, and Jeff sounded like a very nice, generous guy on the phone, so I would not want to ask him about this... but where can I read the other side of the story which is full of poison on the Matamp USA website? I presume there is a UK/Jeff version to this story? Anyway, I am in Huddersfield and about to go there with my other amps to order something (GT-200 or a modded 1224, not certain... only my test session will tell ;-)
You don't want to worry too much about this Matamp USA Bile. I'm sure Mr Foxen has filled you in, but the bottom line is, two parties were involved in a business deal, they fell out, one party has much time on his hands to post stuff on the web, the other has his hands full with marine ply and tolex. If it settles your mind, a couple of years back I'd only just heard of Matamp, and thru BC'ers like Mr Foxen and Tayste_2000, and my own endeavour getting to Huddersfield, I'm the proud owner of Matamp gear, and it's second to none. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say.
I don't think this is allowed under the forum rules. Maybe it's different as it's technically a hardware sale...
...Well why bother mentioning it then? If you have a problem with this sale, then speak to the Mods, otherwise don't rain on my parade and take it elsewhere.
Should add just as a caveat: This version doesn't work with OSX Lion - Apple broke it (the bastards) so you would need to upgrade it if you're planning to use it on a Mac.
I always thought there were two versions, one with a firewire lead for Macs, and one with a USB connection for PC's. Mine's a USB connection.
Better late than never, here's my oh so lovely ACG Finn SC Classic BO 5 string. Swamp Ash body, with "Dirty Ash" Finish, 3 piece Wenge neck and Bloodwood fingerboard. Single RFB Pickup, with Series/Parallel/Singlecoil switching and an ACG EQ02 with passive tone control. It's a 33" scale bass, with a low B, so it's an absolute dream to get around and the lightweight body makes you forget you've even got thing on, even with the Wenge neck! I think from the full bass pictures, you can really get a feel for how compact this bass is It can provide a huge range of tones from subtle to barking dog, thanks to the versatility of the ACG Preamp and the coil switching in the pickup. Anyway, I should stop my rambling and show off my pride and joy Cheers, Eude
Cor... Missus... Dirty Ash...Loverly
