1. The film is still on the scratchplate, I'll take that off when I give a high polish on the buffing wheel. I'm buying one this week to fit on my drill. She sounds great, little fret buzz on first on A, and maybe the bridge needs lowering a bit, but this is with no set up. Very pleased
 2. Bolting her back together! Very organised, me.. Screws in sellotape and a note to myself of how many turns I took off the truss-rod to relax the neck when idle for 3 weeks.. Little yellow plastic shim in the neck pocket. I'd drawn a biro outline round it, to stick it back in the right place.. All coming together. I'd kept all the electrics on the scratchplate.. Ta Da!.... 3.
The body is looking great. I stripped my main Precision & it really helped me bond with the instrument
Thank you. Just put her back together, pics to follow
 4.
I use Mer to clean my frets, brings 'em up a treat!
It's the business, will polish up wood, metal, plastic, most everything. And it works best if you put it on when the surface is wet. I got it from custom bike builders who would ride up to a show in the pissing rain, chuck Mer all over the Harley, and bing, a gleaming show winner.
 5. She 'aint looking too terrible, so I'm going to build her up tonight. Really need to polish with a buffing wheel and some paste. That'll be next weekend and of course the back...
 6. OK. Put a few coats of Pre-Cat Clear Nitro on (from a spray-can) over the past couple of weeks. Just wet rubbed down with 0000 steel wool. Now polishing up a bit with 'Mer' car polish
 7. Well, apart from getting down to B&Q's bathroom department, why don't you ask this lot.. http://www.auroraproject.co.uk/ Good luck!
 8. I saw this review come up last night, and thought It was top notch, Prompting me to scour eBay for 4 year old pink Italias!
 9.
Lozz196, because i like to turn the knobs on my bass No it does not. The hum changes a bit when i fiddle with the speaker cable, so im thinking it might be a dodgy connection on the cab. How would one go about fixing a bad earth pass?
Maybe it's the cable itself is knackered, try using different ones and see if there is a difference. You will probably find it's a bad solder joint somewhere, and it's a process of elimination to find it. But often it will be around areas where there is movement, like jack sockets, inputs, power leads and plugs. Unless you are competent in your electrical know-how, I'd leave it to an expert. A good Luthier in your area should be able check the Bass, and will probably know someone who could have a look at the amp. My guy is in Berkshire, which is not a great deal of help to you in Norfolk, but I'm sure there are BC'ers around who can recommend someone in your area. Here is a story for you... Years back a friend of my cousins had a proper Arcade Grand Prix Racing game in his garage. You sat in the thing, and we had the door where you put the quid in open. If you stuck your hand round the back, you could pull a small lever that gave you free credit. I put my hand in, and the next thing I knew I could not release my grip from something that felt like my arm was going through a grinder, I was also on the floor in spasms. My cousin managed to boot my arm free from the machine, and luckily I was OK, but very shaken. Be warned, do not f*** with electricity... Find a professional and let them deal with it.
 10. I would agree with Mr F. Does it get any quieter when you press your palm over the bridge?
 11. This Lady Is Not For Turning!.... Well, I'm a bloke really,... But voted anyway.. Down with this sort of thing!
 12. Moffat? For a Scottish Bass Bash?! Well, I thought Moffat was only 330 yrds North from England? I really think that the Genuine Scottish Bass Bash should be held in a place heaving with Scotsfolk, IMHO that would be in the 'Flying Scotsman' on York Road, adjacent to Kings Cross Station, London.
 13. Without sounding obvious, you need to play both instruments and make your decision. Maybe you could find a couple of BC'ers near to you with these basses and ask them nicely for a try. If your looking at shelling out £2500+ for a Wal, you need to take your time. Only your ears, hands and heart can make this decision for you. Good Luck!
 14.
It was like having a sustainer and was one of the most intensely satisfying live playing experiences I've ever had. There was warmth, loads of growl and soaring highs. The mwah was very slow and the notes literally felt like they were blossoming under my fingers. Utterly intoxicating...especially with stereo chorus and a touch of delay.
The Bass players Poet Lauriet
 15.
Well, like I said, we are only trying it for fun. No harm done, surely?!
Hmm. I'm not so sure. The points are 'reputation' points. Just because someone (or a few) doesn't agree with you, you get a bad reputation? This kind of stuff might affect a sale you have up, or another area where you have great knowledge and expertise. It seems like a 'poster' is being rated by a person who lacks the front to break cover. I may disagree with you... but I shall fight to the death for your right to disagree with me... as long as you have the b**locks to front me face to face, and reputation will be intact.
 16. I've recently nuked my FB account because I can't be bothered with a popularity contest, or mindless harassment. I think the whole 'like/dislike' thing should be tossed out. Either step up to the plate and state your business, or get lost. We can all spot the difference between a reasoned discourse and trolling, but I thought that was what the mods were for. Maybe we should have a 'Mod' button, while the grown-ups can get on with disagreeing with each other... Although I like Rockers too. Anyway, I'm trying to pack in with 'Off Topic', as I find myself getting heated with people who are probably bang-on in real life.
 17. Just had an email from Mr Wishnevski. Should be finished by the end of the week, hopefully pics to follow.
 18.
Billyapple - the brag above my avatar says all you need to know.....
...well, I have a very good friend in...etc etc etc
 19.
Not a folk instrument as such; I play some Renaissance / Baroque lute and couldn't resist this theorbo / arch-lute recently; traded my best mandolin for it. I should have pictured it next to a P-bass for scale - it's 5' 9" long! - but eggshell-light. Courses should be double rather than single as is; I need to source or make some more tuning pegs.
I had this Lute pictured on a poster years back... 'It's not the size of your instrument, but how you play it'.
 20.
I would dearly love one.
Try this fella... 21. I had heard (apocryphal, maybe) that the Green thing started as a nod to Peter Green using a Series 2000 on Albatross, But at some stage Jeff was calling Matamp 'Green' as there is a broken sign to that outside the factory! The American guy (Joel Wheeler) was at some stage in business with Jeff, but by all accounts took a bump to the head and lost the plot. All this resulted in Jeff having to spend an awful lot of time and money wrestling the Matamp name back from Wheeler, which apparently he has succeeded in doing. He had his fingers burnt with Gibson, and is therefore reticent to expand the business beyond the current cottage industry in Yorkshire. Although he does (I believe) have German, Canadian, and new US distribution. To the OP, if you want original 100% British built valve tone with an unsurpassed pedigree, then look no further than Matamp in Huddersfield. All the Electric Amp/Green Amp/White Amp/Whatever Amp are bunk, although their webpages are somewhat amusing. THE REAL McCOY
 22.
Just want the bark hardened, don't want it filled in like one of those scorpions in a paperweight. Is supposed to be bark, just didn't want it flaking off on me.
I think you should've sealed the mud-ball for posterity.
 23.
This thing is a rain stick, every time I step outside with it, down it comes.
Well, yes, that and it's November.
