The film is still on the scratchplate, I'll take that off when I give a high polish on the buffing wheel. I'm buying one this week to fit on my drill. She sounds great, little fret buzz on first on A, and maybe the bridge needs lowering a bit, but this is with no set up. Very pleased

And it works best if you put it on when the surface is wet. OK. Put a few coats of Pre-Cat Clear Nitro on (from a spray-can) over the past couple of weeks. Just wet rubbed down with 0000 steel wool. Now polishing up a bit with 'Mer' car polish [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/fAcmal.jpg[/IMG]

[/quote] Maybe it's the cable itself is knackered, try using different ones and see if there is a difference. You will probably find it's a bad solder joint somewhere, and it's a process of elimination to find it. But often it will be around areas where there is movement, like jack sockets, inputs, power leads and plugs. Unless you are competent in your electrical know-how, I'd leave it to an expert. A good Luthier in your area should be able check the Bass, and will probably know someone who could have a look at the amp. My guy is in Berkshire, which is not a great deal of help to you in Norfolk, but I'm sure there are BC'ers around who can recommend someone in your area. Here is a story for you... Years back a friend of my cousins had a proper Arcade Grand Prix Racing game in his garage. You sat in the thing, and we had the door where you put the quid in open. If you stuck your hand round the back, you could pull a small lever that gave you free credit. I put my hand in, and the next thing I knew I could not release my grip from something that felt like my arm was going through a grinder, I was also on the floor in spasms. My cousin managed to boot my arm free from the machine, and luckily I was OK, but very shaken. Be warned, do not f*** with electricity... Find a professional and let them deal with it.

Moffat? For a Scottish Bass Bash?! Well, I thought Moffat was only 330 yrds North from England? I really think that the Genuine Scottish Bass Bash should be held in a place heaving with Scotsfolk, IMHO that would be in the 'Flying Scotsman' on York Road, adjacent to Kings Cross Station, London.

Without sounding obvious, you need to play both instruments and make your decision. Maybe you could find a couple of BC'ers near to you with these basses and ask them nicely for a try. If your looking at shelling out £2500+ for a Wal, you need to take your time. Only your ears, hands and heart can make this decision for you. Good Luck!

I've recently nuked my FB account because I can't be bothered with a popularity contest, or mindless harassment. I think the whole 'like/dislike' thing should be tossed out. Either step up to the plate and state your business, or get lost. We can all spot the difference between a reasoned discourse and trolling, but I thought that was what the mods were for. Maybe we should have a 'Mod' button, while the grown-ups can get on with disagreeing with each other... Although I like Rockers too. I had heard (apocryphal, maybe) that the Green thing started as a nod to Peter Green using a Series 2000 on Albatross, But at some stage Jeff was calling Matamp 'Green' as there is a broken sign to that outside the factory! The American guy (Joel Wheeler) was at some stage in business with Jeff, but by all accounts took a bump to the head and lost the plot. All this resulted in Jeff having to spend an awful lot of time and money wrestling the Matamp name back from Wheeler, which apparently he has succeeded in doing. He had his fingers burnt with Gibson, and is therefore reticent to expand the business beyond the current cottage industry in Yorkshire. Although he does (I believe) have German, Canadian, and new US distribution. To the OP, if you want original 100% British built valve tone with an unsurpassed pedigree, then look no further than Matamp in Huddersfield. All the Electric Amp/Green Amp/White Amp/Whatever Amp are bunk, although their webpages are somewhat amusing. [u][b]THE REAL McCOY[/b][/u]
