1.
This is exactly what I was referring to in my OP. Also, as well as "recently" serviced, I have come across..."regularly" serviced. This would imply that people possibly pay techs to simply clean the amp. Handy money.
Yep. Massive conspiracy by amp-techs to rip you off. It's my choice to take care of my gear and I've never had a tech that has done any more than what is needed.
2.
A car is a different matter. It has moving parts that need to be monitored for wear and tear. If they are found to be OK, that's good. If they are found to have wear, they are repaired or replaced. Valves are also a different matter. We are talking about SS amps in this thread.
Why are they a different matter? Are you trying to tell me that all parts of a SS amp are never subject to any form of degradation? Even vibration from a cab can wear things loose.
3. I don't think servicing means repair. When I have my car serviced no repairs are made. If any repairs are necessary then they are identified at service, but the repair is outside the scope of the service. I regularly have my valve heads serviced and the last two heads and pre-amp were found to be running correctly with no additional work or repairs needed. I class this as a service.
4. I just watched Marc Almond do Star Man. I thought it was pretty good. He gave it a lot and had a big smile on his face. His singing was certainly better than I thought it might be and I enjoyed the whimsical interpretation. The people there seemed to be enjoying it too. I suppose if you are a big Bowie fan it's all going to be a disappointment as it's not Bowie and never will be as long as he remains dead.
5. I like the fat one's OBBM does. Feels good in my hand.
6.
It's because of arsey posts like this we call you Bully Apple behind your back
Thank you. I think in life it's good to make an impression whether good or bad, but never mediocre. I just call you stingrayPete1977.
7.
Ah. Sorry. Didn't realise you were a moderator.
It's easy fixed if you type with your eyes open.
8. All trades posted on sales will be deleted. If you have items to trade please PM the seller direct.
9. Our very own Kev Hopper, especially from his Stump days. I was a big fan. Does the fish have chips? Yes, yes it does.
10. My Spector Forte 5 weighs 8.8 lbs, has a slim neck profile and a nut width of 45 mm. String spacing is 16.75 mm at the bridge. It's a lovely bass and balances great with Hipshot tuners. Have to say, any narrower on the nut and string spacing and I think you'll be risking the strings rattling off each other and not much dig-in finger space. IMO the Spector has got it just right.
11. This was put together by Julian Mullen for the SPB3 I had in my Squier JV. CTS solid shaft pots, orange what-not, Switchcraft jack, cloth wiring and knobs. £30 posted
12. Joris bought my Jule / Demeter. We made the deal, he gave me the money. Real cool Dude, hassle free and just how it should be. Recommended.
13. Paul bought some tuners of mine. Bish-bosh, job done. No hassles, recommended and all that.
