1.
I think Billy Apple bought it. There was only one. He must have sold it to buy drugs.
Yes. Yes I did.
2. I was thinking EMG's BQS system might be an idea as everything is on the pots, but I read it only works with EMG pups. http://www.emgpickups.com/bqssystem.html#info Maybe there is a similar thing by someone else?
3.
AC/DC is starting to smell. Time to kill it before it becomes a grotesque parody of its former self. I've loved AC/DC since I was a kid. Don't really want to see it become even more of a joke...
I have to say I thought they were over after Back In Black. Brian made a decent fist of it, but he never had the pipes Bon did.
4. I've heard of guitarists playing through Marshall Super Basses and I know Doyle from The Misfits' plays through SVT CL's. I suppose the mismatch could occur with the cab.
5. I would contact PJ at Spector pj@spectorbass.com with the details of the bass and ask what is the best thing to do. A chap called John Williams at Noiseworks in Coventry http://guitarsandbasses.co.uk/ does the warranty work for Bass Directs US Spectors. He's reasonable in price and his work is very good.
6. Tell us about the yellow P bass, that looks cool?
7. You might tire of carrying the SVT and AD200. How about something like the Ashdown CTM100?
8. Seymour Duncan SPB-3 quarter pounder, £45. No trades thanks.
9. Treat yourself to a set of the best lightweight vintage style tuners you can get. Direct replacement on Fender basses with no additional drilling (if it already has the vintage style back-plate). Very well engineered out of aircraft grade aluminium with an allen key tension adjuster. These come in the original box with ferrules and screws. They were fitted once to my Squier JV P, that sat in its case due to me discovering Spectors soon after. These are virtually brand new with a nickel finish. They'd set you back £140 at Allparts, I'm after £100. No Trades Thanks
10. I can't believe this cab is still here. It was a custom build for me by Mike at Purple Chili. I only sold it because I got the EAD 212. It's very light, loaded with an Eminence neo Basslite and is very musical. The band I was gigging with at the time hated my Ampeg 610 and loved this. I left the SVT Pro II at home and gigged this with a GK MB200, super light and super tuneful.
11. I was speaking to an engineer at work who lives next to Pilton Farm. He reckons there is a gas main that runs under the field at the main stage and is starting to give under the weight. He says this year will be the last to be held at Pilton and will be moving to another venue.
12. I've got two Harvest leather gig bags and they really are top-drawer. Qualitatum.
13.
Well in that case I'm happy to say Adele's music bores me and Billy can call me small minded, at least my comment was in relation to the thread albeit a negative point rather than name calling and off topic, probably both in his list of forum rules ironically, lol
Sorry, but if you read my post, I'm not calling you anything. I'm nearly making a comparison between people who have the backbone to stand up and ply their art and others who hide behind falsities' in order to criticise. I fail to see how I have broken any forum rules.
14.
Her success makes her not a bit less dull to listen to imo, what's this weeks excuse for the duff notes in the first three songs? Mic fell into the piano, in ear monitors playing up again? Ha.
At least she has the guts to step up to the plate in front of hundreds, if not millions of people on TV and not hide behind anonymity. She certainly has my respect for that as opposed to some weak minded people who pretend to be something they are not
15.
In general - wood expands when it gets wetter and shrinks when it gets drier.
So lets keep things simple. It the strings are pulling one way and the truss rod is counter acting that, what would the result be with a change in moisture? Plus if damp wood expands, would it make the wood spongier and less rigid?
16. Wow! This bass top-notch. Plenty of balls n' bite and great fun to play. Just been banging along too The Damned's Black and Strawberries albums. Bloody great!
17. If you move a bass from a dry atmosphere into one with more damp (but a similar temperature) in the air would the neck? i) Forward bow ii) Back bow And why?
18.
Lovely bass! Glad they've added the separate battery compartment too, is that a new thing? On my old Euro 4 you had to take the back plate off to get to the battery, which was a pain in the a**e!
I've looked at the backs of all the Euro's on Bass Directs site and none of them have the battery box. I think the only ones that do are the 18V US basses. The 9V HAZ runs with the battery on the board, so no separate box. I up-rated the OPB3 in my 5'er to 18V as there's enough room in the cavity for two batteries. Maybe the box on mine is an upgrade?
