1.
HD probably off my radar at that time. I went to see Elvis Costello and the Attractions, who were excellent.
It was OK when the Attractions started, but EC opened on his own and was monumentally dull. Along with New Order and Van Morrison, all the main headliners were boring, IMO of course
 2.
Exactly my experience in 1987 - except for the Husker Du bit, obviously. A friend in our party took a LOT of Immodium to prevent any crapping, but his weekend was spoilt somewhat as he did not feel well for some reason... I did what you did and exercised the power of mind over (fecal) matter.

I just checked the Glastonbury history and it turns out it was 1987 I was there as well.
I was there in '87 too and specifically wanted to see Husker Du. They were on Saturday afternoon as I remember and didn't disappoint even in the daylight. Other stand-out's for me were Gaye Bykers, The Soup Dragons, Hank Wangford, Billy Bragg and Stump. Over-all I didn't really enjoy it. Lots of anarcho-punk types being w***ers in the camping areas. I remember sitting up on a hill looking at this massive shanty town thinking that this must be really bad for the local eco-system despite all the hippy posturing. You can keep it I thought and have never been back.
 3.
Very nice, it looks quite evil. Do the Anniversary Euros have the standard neck width or are they 1.5"
Standard Euro neck dims, not Wimbush or Hill. The nut width is 1.64" or 41.6mm
 4.
only to find a truly enormous turd on the seat - with a union jack stuck in it at a jaunty angle. Just about summed up my feelings about the United Kingdom at the time. Which haven't changed, by the way.
I think this sums-up why we are such a great nation. No matter how bad it is, we'll stick a flag in it.
 5.
I still want this. If my Ripper sells I'll give you a shout
She's a beauty!
 6. The grain in bare wood would swell if damp so it would.
 7.
That's a very cool looking bass. Very cool. Much prefer the look of the P/J pickup configuration over the soapbars.
I think you are right that the P/J config looks the best. Have you never considered a Spector? I would've thought they'd be right up your neck-through rock-machine schizzle?
 8.
Congrats Sean, it looks lovely. If it plays anything like my old pre-LX Euro4 with maple wings then you're onto a winner. I'm sure you'll love the Tone Pump too, it's a total beast. Caution is advised!!
We're just taking it easy at the mo, but was yours non-trim pot?
 9. Picked this up yesterday from the lovely Phil at Bass Gear in Twyford... A very well put together and finished bass. Deep lustrous gloss, lovely red figured maple that looks ace along side the black neck. The fret-board is stained black to go with the neck and I'd say the over-all finish is flawless. I've done a little A-B'ing with my US NS2 and the neck dims are virtually identical. The Euro neck feels deeper though due to the gloss finish. Plays very nicely, just the kind of neck I like. Comes with the Tone Pump, this being the first one I've owned. I set it first with the bass at 9 o'clock and the treble at 12 o'clock as the flat setting recommended on TB https://www.talkbass...7#post-18891294 and it worked very well. I just tweaked it with a little boost on both so bass 10 o'c and treble 1 o'c. I compared the Euro with the NS2 both at flat and they are remarkably similar. The NS2 has more 'air' and bite, the Euro more bottom, but there was not much in it. Also they've not got the same strings so that could make a difference, but the Euro has a real authority about it. It's strung with a decent set of D'Addario nickel XL's and has a nice set-up out the box. The only niggle is the saddles are quite high in the bridge and the E has been digging my palm a little, but it's nothing that can't be sorted. This Euro is slightly different to the usual ones in that the wings are solid maple, not maple/alder. So on a par with the US NS2 and older non-LX Euro's. It's also got the 40th inlay at the 12th. I think the only thing that might get changed is the vol/vol which does my nut. Michalik who build the TP for Spector have a wiring diagram to change to bal/vol, so I'm anticipating a trip to the gallery for a set-up and a small mod. She weighs in at 9 1/4 pounds, so my heaviest bass, but it's very compact and I was surprised when Phil weighed it in the shop. Anyway, pictures so it exists! This is a really lovely bass
 10.
I will have Sean, but I`ll be touring it in Germany at that time.
You'll probably find after Thursday you'll not get let in. Come to the SEBB instead and I'll bring some sausages.
 11. Coolio! I'm thick, what's the ohms of the two together?
 12. Jule Monique Dove Cage Pre Amp and Demeter Minnie 800D Power Amp The best thing since sliced bread, a fantastic sounding set-up that ticks all the boxes. I'm letting this go because I'm very happy with my Marshall Super Bass and Burman for holidays. If I want lightweight I may go for something much more ordinary than the Jule. It comes with a very sexyfull carry bag which is the only one I've seen (as I recall Vic in Bass Gear had not seen one either!). Just been checked over by Stuart Smith in Reading who is an ex BBC engineer, he had three words for it.. very tidy indeed. I'm near Newbury and will deliver sensible distances for gratis, plus I'm up that London most days and can drop anywhere in zones 1 to 6. Sorry, I won't courier, but I will wrap it best I can and if you sort a courier I'll hand it over. I'd rather not split as the whole kit just goes so well together. No trades thank you.
 13. Thought Spector enthusiasts might like to see this Tone Pump frequency response analysis from TB member SNCPre. He also builds clone HAZ's that are very popular with the TB Spector owners club members. I just bought one, so we'll see how it goes. Any-hoo, here you go.. www.talkbass.com/threads/spector%C2%AE-owners-club.1066466/page-2537#post-18891294"]https://www.talkbass...7#post-18891294
 14.
It's landed. I now need to book a rehearsal room for two hours to break it in... Just me, my gear and some ear plugs.
Nice
 15. For some reason in among all the punk and alternative we had the White Feathers album in the car. The other anomaly was ABC's Lexicon Of Love. Nick Beggs is the ace-bass, plus he looks great and plays Spectors. Top man!
 16.
2016 strikes again. And again, and again, and again...

Incredible - in the space of about 48 hours Meatloaf collapses, Rick Parfitt has a heart attack & Ian Paice has a mini stroke. At least they're all still alive, that's the main thing
I don't get this '2016' stuff. All these are old/older people and this stuff happens to everyone. It's just that a bunch of people who we got into when we were young are no longer young themselves and it's showing.
 17. Meat Loaf collapsed on stage. Doesn't look too well. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36556844
 18.
My point wasn't really about censorship as such, t'was more about one member asking another member to stop posting stuff, hence my 'back seat moderation' comment.
That is how I took your comment and think it is entirely valid. I like the fact that we have members with opinions and different points of view. If a member is repetitive, as long as it does not contravene our rules then it matters not (to me anyway). There is no rule stating a member has to rise to the posts of others. I take a dimmer view of members being baity toward a member with trenchant views than the views themselves. Members should be aware that the report function is a handy tool. The Mods do read reported posts and they are always discussed between us. We're not always in agreement, but there is always a result and I believe it's more often not the right one for the forum as a whole. But, if you start swearing... BLAMMO!
 19.
Very tidy example, that Superbass. I've been looking at a lot of pictures of Marshall wiring lately, to try and pick up hints for my own build in a Marshall style, and they're not all as neat as yours.
It's a strange chassis, a quarter of it is empty. I guess they had one size fits all, but both transformers are over on one side so it carries lop-sided. Someone told me this was to help roadies get them through doors!. I'm wondering if it was all so they could sit smart on the 412 cab, but this amp comes alive with modern cabs, but looks sh*te with the over-hang. I'll see if I can dig-out a pic of my old Matamp GT200 as that a nice dress too.
 20.
Hopefully the thread will get some more posters, although the gear porn section isn't the most visited area.
Moved to Amps and Cabs
 21. My Burman MPA SL100. Pics are just of the SL power pack. Guts.. Top.. If this is not the most sexy brutal steam punk transformer, I don't know what is!...
 22. This is my '81 Marshall Super Bass. A superb amp, great tone and very low noise (if any at all). You can see from the QC sticker that it was assembled by Rita and tested by Dennis. I called Marshall about the amp when I bought it and they told me Rita was Jim Marshall's wife at the time and Dennis has only just retired. So a nice bit of pedigree and heritage.
