I had a vintage aged cherry-burst one and I can't see any difference. Might they have finished the first run, made a second run of identical instruments and called it 'special edition'? Maybe they've addressed the weighty center block?

I think heft has much to do with cabs. I gigged an SVT Pro II and had way more heft from my Purple Chilli neo 115 than I ever did from my Ampeg 610. The best combo is old school valve with new school cabs.

Does the switch popping not go away after a couple of stomps? I've noticed pedals do this when first set-up and engaged.
