1.
Has Feng Shui replaced Rock'n'Roll..?
No. I used to have one and they have an awful mid-hump
2. Like Lozz I don't like amps hanging over the side of a cab, plus I like them both to colour match. So I'm really struggling with my black 29" Marshall Superbass sitting on top of my kind-of grey 21" EAD 212 Sounds fantastic. Looks sh*t.
3.
Thanks BA - didn't know that - I only hope that the person on the end of the phone at CAB knows their stuff - I've lived in towns where CAB was staffed by numpties & used as a central needle exchange point..............
It's actually something called the Citizens Advice Consumer Advice Line http://www.tradingstandards.uk/advice/
4. You don't get put through to trading standards anymore. If you phone TS you go to the CAB who assess your needs and advise accordingly. You'd get through to TS on the CAB say-so.
5. I think you should speak to the CAB and ask if you've any recourse under the Supply of Goods and Services Act. They should tell you exactly what to put into a letter to them. You do have certain statutory rights and you may find they can't just bust your stuff and then mug you off. Good luck!
6. Nice. You can't beat a bit of CAR
7.
I agree, there's nothing like standing in front of a fridge on stage - the sound and fury are truly incredible
A physical and aural kick in the guts. The harder the boot, the sweeter it is.
8. I bought a Coronado that I liked but it was heavy like a log. Traded it for a Guild Starfire that is great, though not cheap. If it was available then, I'd probably give the Chowny a go. Well priced, looks good and people seem to like them.
9. I like varying between my NS2 and Forte 5. NS2, Mmmm.. round Forte 5, Mmmm.. slim and so on and so forth
10.
Nobody is going convince me they set out to be a bedroom noodler . Blue
I play with myself every night in my bedroom and it fills me with great joy.
11.
What if...a Superbass MkIII 100watt all tube offering? It might just up their profile in the bass department.
After getting my MkII out the sleeve what was apparent to me was just how much wasted space there is. Almost a quarter of one side of the chassis is empty. All they need to do with a MkIII is make it a bit more compact so it can sit neatly on today's cabs. Also 'gain' is well catered for with Orange at al. They could find a market for a clean lower wattage amp that displays the tone through the back end, erm, like the MkII. I don't think you really need 200, 300 or 400 watts
12. Some news here. John has tried his best with the gold flake, but he's not been happy with the results. So long story short, we're going with Olympic white. 2 1/2 years so far? Any longer BC builds?
13. Valves sound better when powered with gas. Gives a softer clip see..
14.
I will probable just replace the output valves - they are stock and the amp is a few years old now. But it works out as a good price to buy the full set, even if I do not use the preamp valves straight away.
Fill your boots then. The price does not look too bad at all
15. Do you have to replace the lot? Surely your Tech should be able to see what needs changing and what doesn't. Pre amp valves are usually very long life. Who are you getting to service it? BTW, Watford Valves have a good rep and I'm sure the kit is fine, I'd just make sure you needed them
16. I've an old Superbass 100 and it's great through a modern cab
17. The Euro neck may be a P nut width, but it's more parallel over the length, as in thinner at the 12th.
18. The Doug Wimbush is the Jazz width nut, the Ian Hill the slim profile neck
19. My Burman has been suffering from a bad hum lately. I thought it might be down to a DI that was fitted as it was reported at the time that a bad earth had been fixed. I've moved out to West Berkshire so getting it to Greg at Guitaraid in Putney is a bit of a schlep. I was advised to take it to Stuart at Berkshire amp repairs in Caversham. Stuart does work for Bass Gear who are not far away. Anyhoo, took it over and dropped it off. Had a call that all was fixed and all was well. So what was the hum? "I just took those cheap patch leads out that were bridging the channels and the hum stopped" D'oh! Leads bin
20. I'm not sure that playing with a pick will help. I have always played with a pick and the action and movement can be much more localised, especially due to holding the pick between thumb and forefinger, which in turn leads to cramp. I would have thought playing with fingers would even the load across the hand. Have you thought about taking it easy and not gigging all weekend? You could also alternate songs between pick and finger style.
21. Anyone tried a KSM Foundation? http://www.ksmguitars.com/bridge.html
22. How do you know you have HAVS? Has it been diagnosed? Have you got it from work and have you sought compensation? Numbness in the hands and fingers could also be caused by carpel tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome. Have you asked your Doctor for a nerve conductivity test and a referral to a neurologist?
