1. Any more info about the bass? Stuff like weight, the pre-amp, that kind of thing?
2. You don't need to take the neck off to adjust a heel truss rod. Just loosen the screws off enough to angle the nut out the pocket.
3.
Mate, you were taking the wrong drugs! I have not touched any such thing for a long time, but when I was, I can tell ya, I could f*** for the UK!
Hence the term 'raging speed horn' Some things are best left alone
4.
So I will need to make one out of some typical household items. Anyone have a life hack for an impromptu capo?!?!?
Pencil, rubber bands
5.
So, that's a new phrase for something not new at all.
And it's not a life hack. The easiest short-cut or trick would be to play an actual short scale by buying or borrowing one or trying at a shop instead of farting about with a long scale.
6.
I still can't get Motorhead, didn't really like his attitude towards women
Really, what attitude would that be? In all the interviews I've read and seen women speak of him as a perfect gent. There's a nice one in the last film, a female bass player is talking about Lem. Her name escapes me, but maybe I can locate it on the net.
7. I saw them on an anniversary gig at Brixton Academy. At the end of the gig they were joined by Fast Eddie and Brian May blasting out Overkill. Smashing!
8. Could you tune a shorty down to get more beef?
9. I first saw Motorhead as a 13 year old in 1980. They did 2 nights at Newcastle City Hall and 2 nights in Leeds to record what would be No Sleep Till Hammersmith. For years I thought there was a cheer on the record that was me! Lem, Eddie, Phil, the Bomber rig and the best bunch of Rock n' Roll songs you could hope for. Most outstanding gig ever... Ever!
10. RIP Lemmy. One of my true heroes. Just the real deal. So sad. It's a small mercy he was taken quickly as it was clear he was struggling. Best wishes big man and thankyou.
11.
I would have thought the opposite, the Vulcan sounds less aggressive than the B7K and more comparable to the Vintage from the demos I've heard.
All he said was he thought the Pike a more aggressive sound when both pedals were set flat. Obviously things will change when you start twiddling knobs.
12. Please keep questions about price to PM's thank you
13. I've been looking at pre-amp pedals and asked Marcus at Bass Direct to compare the two. He thought when set flat the Pike Vulcan XL to be more aggressive over the B7K also the gain to be a more modern sound. So not the same pedal IHO
14.
I think numbers 3. to 10. would be valid for non-worship bass players, too... OK, maybe not 7.
You're my non-worship bass player
15. It's a lovely bass at a bargain price. Bit far for me to get over at the mo, but GLWTS
16.
This is exactly what went on in the metal scene (although on a much smaller scale than punk obviously) when I was still young enough to be part of a scene... For people supposed to be into "alternative" music the bitching between the various subtly different sub generes was unbelievable.
I've seen some terrible rucks between Goths. Handbags and nail polish everywhere!
17.
I think the issue here is more about our ability to spot unprofessional aspects of a band and members before joining. Blue
You see my problem is I don't have the ability to be able to look into the future. The singer was a perfectly nice chap when he was setting out the bands mission statement. However it's easier to spot other peoples shortcomings than see your own and we've all got perfect vision in hindsight.
18. These are the four questions I should have asked my last band.. Is the singer who thinks he runs the band actually completely penniless due to the fact he only works part time picking balls up on a golf course and totally relies on everyone else for money, transport and gear? Does the singer possess a shonky old acoustic guitar that has such a bad back-bow that when played all the strings drag on all the frets and your offer to adjust the truss rod is met with 'nah mate, I like a really low action'? After spending copious amounts of time and money rehearsing does the singer take a load of amphetamine before playing live? After putting in a few gigs and pulling in punters due to the new bass players exiting full-on rock and roll stance, will the singer sack the bass player because he wants his mate the old boring bass player back in because he's jealous? I've got a few more I'd ask the drummer, but rules is rules
