I don't mind my heroes getting old and dying. But 61 is no age. I'll tell it like it is, when I was young I didn't have any great role models in my family. Motorhead embodied all the role models wrapped up in one. Lemmy was the Dad I wanted, Eddie inspired a work ethic like a hard-work teacher who you only appreciate when you're older and Phil was the Acme-Placebo version of me, who always had the hair, the clothes and the chops. Far from turning me into a degenerate they inspired me to be the best I could be, not to be scared, but to jump in with both feet. I probably didn't take drugs because of Motorhead because there was work to be done.
The quintessential loud, fast, dirty rock and roll band and so much more besides.
