1. Nice . I've moved to into Bass Guitars for you
2. The head-stock shape differs between the two as does the bridge. The legend is a set neck, but they've brought out a through neck for 2015. The legend also has the Tonepump junior. The legend will say made in where-ever they are made in Asia (Indonesia), the Euro will say Czechoslovakia. Legend will have dot inlays, the Euro will have crown inlays. Can you take a picture and post it here, or post a snap he's sent you?
3. I've removed a post containing a cash offer. Please make all offers via PM please
4. When did second hand become pre owned?
5.
This is a really simple, I love the sound of my orange stack 'type post', it's freakin beautiful! Just look at that!
Phwoor!
6. A well set up Squier will play better than a badly set up Fender!
7. I was very confident doing mine as I gave it to a pro to do who has worked on pretty much all my basses. As previously mentioned do not cut or injure the bass in any way. I now have a bass that I doubt I'll ever sell. Unless you are 100% confident in what you do, or who you give the bass to, I wouldn't bother. There's loads of P basses out there
8.
Cheers mate fair enough I guess the fender model is good for a reason, mine just happens to be a cheap 2nd hand one. And with everyone's second bass, they look to try and pick one that goes with their own tone The action on mine is a bit too high for my liking too, although that might be a configuration problem as opposed to the fender itself.
I'd not worry about the Guild. They're pricey and thin on the ground. Spend your money on a decent set-up for your P bass. When it's done it'll probably feel like a new bass anyway. Then if you want to get another bass get the Dano as there's more around and if it's not for you you'll easily be able to move it on without much loss. If you have both you'll have two very different basses which will give you a much more varied range. The Dano looks cool and looks like fun.
9. They've been representing at two of our Bash's so props from me just for giving the time to the grass-roots types guys who are doing it.
10. Very good. It's not really about lolly-pops, is it?
11. The Guild Starfire has single coils (Bisonics just look like humbuckers). I'd not let your P bass go as the Guild and Dano are vastly different. I have a P and a Guild for variation. Don't know much about Dano's, but the ones I've played sound a bit like cardboard, but I don't mean that in a bad way. The guild has depth and a thump, you'd need to try both really and see how you feel
12. I've got my JV for the feel. The original pup was a bit thin for my liking. I had a pro take out everything and replace with a quarter pounder, CTS pots, fancy cap and jack. I swapped the tuners for Gotoh Rezo-lites (which fit exactly) and all of the cavities shielded. There is nothing that has been done that can't be put back. Even the shielding has been done with a light easily removable adhesive. What I have now is a killer sub 8lb P bass with a neck that rivals my old '62. If you mod it just make sure its done by someone who knows what they are doing.
13. Who is Aguilars UK distributor? They might have an authorized servicer.
14.
I'll bite...... as per the previous post - Spector. From the very start (& even when owned by Kramer for a few years) they have always had one constant guiding their product. Stuart Spector himself. He's always ensured that anything with his name on it is of a high standard at ALL price points. The man is a legend..... and a master of customer service too!
+1. Complete Spector convert here. Outstanding company. This is the kind of thing Stuart Spector gets up to.. http://youtu.be/ewRDmoaT3fA
15. The P bass Alex has in the pictures on the site is the bitsa build I did and sold to him. I feel right proud! For anyone who's interested it a body I got off ebay along with the SP. Badass bridge, tuners, pups and pots from a Mike Dirnt Fender and a Mighty Mite P neck in vintage nitro. The body is fished in white Liberon wood dye and sealed with spray can clear gloss nitro. Kiss my face!
16. Just had someone mention this chaps name. Anyone get anywhere with getting in touch?
17. Watch the Halfords stuff. I used it once and it stayed soft. Had good results with the Nitro stuff tho, pricey but.
18. I really like the 12 cab with the 6" mid and tweeter, but it's 8ohm and I want 4. And I want it now!
19.
At the price Fodera charge I would expect so!
Having picked up Si's Fodera I can assure you in many ways it is very ordinary, but by that I mean it has no flashing lights, sirens, diamonds, pearls or gold plating. What it does have is absolute perfection in its simplicity. Like a raindrop, but just try making one.
20. I'm sure a knob could come off a £Godknowshowmuch Fodera. Implies nothing more than a loose grub screw. Nothing dodgy at all, how do people think they get the things on in the first place, Magic?
21.
At least they all seem to be 'manual' A full mechanical Motorhead vibrator (a Motor-head?) would be scary. How fast would it go?
Well, a 6" would be 45 strokes per min and the 12" would be 33
22. Quick up-date here. Phoned John today to see how he's getting on. He said he was on his third try of getting the gold flake on. Apparently to get a thin even coat is v diff as it seems to go on in fits and starts. I got the impression the poor feller was struggling. He said if the gold was heavier it would be easy. So that's what were doing, more gold Vicar.
23. I'm a big Motorhead fan, but they can stick these up their arse as far as I'm concerned
