1. The bridge spacing is .75" or 19.05mm. Lots of info on the Spector site http://www.spectorbass.com/ns-2trade.html
 2. From 16 I was lucky enough to have a '62 re-fin and it was the only bass I'd ever owned into my 40's. I decided to move the bass along as it reminded me of my Dad who I'd lost a few years earlier. It's one decision I don't regret, my time was passed with the bass and it was time to move on. Since then I've had a Mike Dirnt sig that sounded great, but weighed a ton, then I built a bitsa which I sold on to Alex Clabber. I also had a Warmoth/Rutter La Cab build which seems to be winding its way around the forum. After playing Clarky's Squier JV, I picked one up here and I think that's it for me and P's. It's just like the '62, but without the emotional attachment. I had my chap Julian Mullen remove the pup and pots and put in a SDQP and CTS and Switchcraft, but all the original gubbins can go back in with no scarring (all shielded too). Plus changed the tuners to Resolite's, which are my fave. So, it's lightweight, sounds great and feels great. Well done me! I think I'd always fancy a '50's style CS, but reckon Spector is where I'd be spending the big bucks now. However, I think my JV is one bass to rule them all
 3.
Have you ever walked half a mile carrying a 5-string Jazz, a Mesa Boogie head, and an SVT 810?
I carried (between trains) a 100 watt Burman PA head from Lewisham to Slough, All because that stingy bugger Discreet wouldn't lend me his sack-truck
From what I've gleaned from threads about bass bashes over the years, it would seem best to turn up with no gear whatsoever and just have a good nose at everyone else's!
Aye, there you go again, just typical of your attitude that is!
 4. I'd be interested to know how much more air this will shift as opposed to an 810? I thought the magic was all in the voice coil and xmax excursion, which could be just as big for a 10" with the extra inches in a 15 being the paper cone?
 5.
For me it's a sterling neck shape
I'm just interested, what is the difference in shape between a Sterling and a Stingray?
 6.
That Helium is absolutely beautiful. I watched it a lot, when it was up for sale. I've never digged the glossy Spectors. I'm more to the satin look. And that Helium has it all.
Thanks Bud
 7. Check out the TKS cabs and see if your budget can stretch. They are superb sounding and finished
 8.
Get a sack truck

Hahaha good call that man
Not such a silly idea. I've used one of these to get my Burman's around. When I had the SVT I carried it wearing heavy leather rigger gloves.
 9.
Yup - that's what brought me to their attention in the first place. It blows my mind how the ceramics are so light.
I'm thinking that Lloyd might be getting confused over our A/B'ing of the neo and ceramic Berg 112's? I'm sure his comment was about how great the TKS tone was while being so light and ceramic? Lloyd, Barrie and I had a right old mess about with loads of gear down at Bass Gear yesterday. It was a fantastic day out for bass-anoraks like us and well worth while. Lloyd A/B'd the Berg neo and ceramic 112's with the Aggie 350 and 500 Tonehammer and the GK MB500 and 200 with his Overwater. I'd taken down my EAD Foundation 212, Orange OB1 and Spector to try against anything Barrie might have. We spent the best part of the afternoon trying combinations of Orange, Aguilar, Jule, Demeter, Berg, TKS and EAD. I was extremely happy with the performance of my EAD. All I can say is I've always had an itch about a Berg 212 and I went home very chuffed with my EAD. The biggest single surprise for me was the TKS gear. It's very very good. I'd go as far to say that the out of the 3 makes of cab we tested the TKS had the sweetest tone (about a fag paper between that and the EAD). The EAD had more low-end, but most of the time we were running the EAD against 112 boxes, so it's to be expected. If I was looking for the best one hand lift cab it would be the TKS 1126T, seriously game-over. Plus you get the option of tolex and cloth so you can look great while sounding better. The fit and finish of the TKS is premier league. Had a lot of fun with amps too. Again no one could believe the GKMB200 can make such a great tone and volume and be not much bigger than a paperback. I was very impressed with the Orange OB1, especially when the sweet-spot is found on the one the gain/blend. Lloyd was sounding impressive through the GKMB500 which beat-over the Aggie Tonehammer 500 in teams of breadth and clarity. For my kind of stuff I'd put the Orange and TH500 on level pegging, but the revelation was (IMHO) the TH350 has a slightly sweeter tone over the 500. Then we went completely off the map. Jule Monique pre-amp with Demeter Minnie 800 power amp. Oh, yes! Clarity, thump, drive, low, mid and top. The whole 9 yards, just like ringing a bell! All of the other amps are great, but the Jule is another level. We also hooked the Jule up to the power section of the TH500 and it was monumental! So after trying out nearly all Barrie's cabs and amps I went home extremely happy with the gear that I took. The eye on the horizon is looking for a Jule Monique to work some magic to pair with my Burman 100 power pack. Something a bit sooner could be one of the very nice leather Harvest gig-bags (you'd want one on the smell alone!) And my recommendation for best bit of kit for the day.. The TKS 1126T. Outstanding. Thanks Barrie!
 10. Thanks for the replies. It seems like it is possible then. Thing is my 34" scale Spector has a brass nut. Would the nut need any filing and would this affect things if I went back to standard tuning? Plus, any work needed on the saddles?
 11.
The version with the TV Jones pickup? Would quite like to try that one. Those black over SB Ltd Ed's are something special, real room shakers. Did you play any?
Yep, the white one. I had the TV Jones Thunderblade in my old La Cab build. I played the BoSB in Bass Gear last year and it was lovely. I was bust checking out the GK550 Fusion with a US Standard.
 12.
Wahey, looks like Guitar Guitar finally sold that 2013 Proto. proves there's something for everyone.
I saw one in GAK over the weekend, along with a tangerine and black over SB.
 13. Would tuning a 34" scale bass to BEAD present any problems, or would it be better to do it on a 35" scale? Cheers!
 14. Just picked up a very nice hard case for this that came gratis from Wunjo
 15.
Yes, the '55 is something else. Other Precision is a Pino. '55 with rounds, Pino with flats, Ampeg B-15 for recording/small gigs, V4-B for bigger gigs. 4001FL for some variety. I find myself curiously content
Aye, not a bad line-up there
 16.
And then sit back and wait for the barrage of abuse from Basschat... !
Waddya mean wait?
 17. You only have to have 5 chatters turn up and you're knackered.
 18.
Pshaw! Your high-end USA Spector has turned you gay!
Yes. In the traditional sense.
 19. I quite like the idea of a J neck on a P body. I think the P easily looks the best out of the two, but it's a bit slimmer for the old fingeringtons
 20. I've just found out that you get no sound from the OB1 if you plug the bass into the footswitch input. I discovered this after trying 3 different leads and 3 different basses. Oops!
 21.
Rammstein, the only band that spit roasts the audience.
That sounds a bit rum. You need to wear a wide belt then?
