1.
Comments like this are always interesting.
Hi Mr Ashdown. What do you think of making one of these available for a member to road test?
 2.
That probably didn't help, sorry! I am keen to see how the subject of this build diary turns out. Hope you get it sorted.
No worries! I'm trying to get the ball rolling, so watch this space!
 3.
I find it strange that Ashdown are thought of as premium in America and Ampeg are thought of as premium here but in their own countries they aren't, the Atlantic must do something to the sound.
The quickest cab I ever moved on was an Ampeg 610HLF. You could hear the chip board tone.
 4. Time to bump this thread a bit and catch up with the news. The bass was picked up (not by me) from the Doc today. There has been no further work done on this bass since March last year and regretably my professional relationship with the Doc is at an end. I'm hoping to get some pics soon from my chum in Newcastle to confirm its condition after being neglected for so long and I'll be looking for a craftsman to finish the job.
 5.
I have many powers (eg, eating lost of chocolate quickly) but time-shifting is sadly not one of them
Yeah, or playing bass! A joke, a joke!
 6. Is Mr Burns the singist?
 7.
I have had a bike for sale for the last month, I have had many enquirers, no one has quibbled with the price, it's still in my garage.
Well, we'll see which sells first. The Ashown B Social or Waynes Grifter
 8. I think if you sold this for £399 the hipsters will think it's Amstrad bunk. Stick a heavy label on it and it becomes niche and the hipsters will lap it up. The price of the bits in the box is neither here nor there.
 9.
What's all this crap? Not a beard in sight!
 10. Me with my very first bass, a Westone Thunder 1A. The guitard with his Washburn.. We're even still mates!
 11. Any stuff you get from B&Q, Screwfix, Maplins or similar will be fine. Avoid stuff from the poundshop Mind you, avoid Teng and Snap-On cos it's the best and will cost a fortune!
 12. You need a 4mm allen key for a US NS2. A one with a long shaft will probably suit you best
 13.
No, of course not! I also do a nice line in soiled, once-white T-shirts ...
With my under-crackers you've got the matching pair
 14.
Nah! That was me, body-doubling for Bruce Willis.
Aye, just the top of the head is it?
 15. Horses for courses. I like Denmark St more than ever, but mainly off the back of Wunjo. Wunjo's stock while varied is mid-range. Anyone who is after anything more eclectic will know the score and visit Bass Direct.
 16. This is a lovely bass. I tried one out last year and it felt awesome in the hand, very custom shop-esque. Plus they'd cured the weight ills of the earlier non-road-worn ones. GLWTS
 17. My Thunderbird is the bass I regret selling. I don't want to repeat what others have said, but the main thing is they're a lot of fun and you feel great playing them. If you pick one s/h for a decent price and it's not for you, then move it along. I'm sure you wont lose. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.
 18.
I think it's a waste of time for young bass players to use these sort of guys as bench marks. Chances are you'll never sound like him or have the ability to play like that. Blue

can I play to that level? no do I aim to have that accuracy and speed? yes I'm fairly use to forum warriors so I won't be dissuaded by him, just probably won't invite him round for a brew haha
What you need to do is stick at it, practice like fook, get a few lessons from some of the Masters that inhabit this place (I'd recommend Jake Newman, but he's a trek from Manchester) and then make this chap eat his words. Follow your heart and don't listen to the pensioners
 19. Welcome! At last a Swede, as we've plenty of turnips
