£2950?? That's a lot of cash for a cartoon bass!
If I was a man with an interest in TBirds, of a certain age, with a little disposable income, this would be a no-brain-er. Buy.
Is it just the pics or is the body really that huge? It's like an aircraft carrier... but then I have been playing a Spector, so...
Yep, the body is over-size, so compared to the dims of a Spector it's ginormous. I think it adds to a bit of cartoon-like fun to it, but it's easily manageable. The body of a Gibbo is quite small I think.

I turned up at GAK yesterday. The one they have in the YT vid is a prototype brought for the day. Naturally the chaps were saying that it was awesome.

Well, get it bought then

No problem. We keep the topic visible though for reference.

Well, if you are satisfied with the outcome (and I guess satisfied with Barefaced customer service), I'll lock this if you feel that way?

Sonisphere cancelled : UK festivals and the future
Billy Apple replied to The Admiral's topic in General Discussion
I went to all the 80's festivals' in the good old days. Bad toilets, bad food, theft from tents, flying bottles of piss, etc. etc. I think they've always been a bit ropey and a rip off. The festivals I remember were the one's where the sun shone and you had a good entourage. Well overdue a revamp IMHO -
Well that's just foul. And what's worse, it turns out that Rachel is a bloke.
Summik's not right there, like.
Replace the TB-dinnae be silly.
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. Apparently the passive Eq is too limiting and is putting customers off.
Woo! You're very kind mate, but I'd be worried about gigging it! Be just my luck if it went tits-up! Thanks very much for the offer though Sean, it's well appreciated.
Well, the offer is there if you are stuck. Never mind the decal, it's the best P I've ever played.

I just spoke to GAK. They are postulating that this might replace the TB

I was asked on my Spector NBD thread how my experience had been at Bass Direct. The following is my reply from the thread..
I'm sorry that you did not have a good experience with Bass Direct. All I can say is that I didn't just pitch up and buy the NS2. My first call to Mark at BD started at the end of November. Mark was very helpful and he promised to get back to me with the information I was after. About a week later I received an email from him with various options and prices. After that we had a back and forth with my questions which amounted to about 30 emails. All I can say is that they were all answered promptly and helpfully. When it comes to me being a customer I can be very detailed, to the point of being finicky and fussy and can test the patience of a Saint. Bass Direct were fine in their replies. In my mind I had decided to order an NS2 from the States, which would've been a 7 month wait. I didn't really like the look of the NS2 in stock and was wanting a gloss finish. I visited the store almost to make my mind up that I would not take the stock NS2, but put an order in. I'd not phoned ahead to say I was coming and arrived in a foul mood having done 10mph from High Wycombe to Warwick! All I was asked was if I needed help by an assistant, I said if I needed help I would ask. There were two other customers in. Me and the Lady were left alone to peruse the basses. I asked if I could handle the Helium and it was taken down and given to me, again I was left alone just to get the feel of it. I asked if I could plug the bass in and was given the option of playing it through headphones as another customer was slapping away. Again I was left alone just to get on with it. Mark finished with a customer and I introduced myself and he was very friendly. By this time I'd pretty much made my mind up to buy the bass. Mark's assistant asked me what kind of stuff I was playing and said the NS2 would be ideal. I was also given the option of trying the Forte and a bass with a slim neck as a comparison. Maybe I've been quite detailed here, but it's just to show that I could not fault Bass Directs customer service and attitude at all. I was left alone, which I like, offered alternatives and not pushed into anything. Compare this with my visit to the Gallery when I was asked if I really wanted to buy the Wal I'd asked to try as it was 3K! So, that was my experience
I had a brief play on one at Bass Direct yesterday. Absolutely astonishing bass. Looks great, long as the QE2, feels great, wafer thin and as light as a feather. Lovely 3D punch from the pups. I couldn't imagine anyone having anything but a lot of fun with this bass. It's like a real Thunderbird, but with all the bad bits made better, with a little cartoon goodness added for good measure. Is it worth the price? I'd say so. Cut out the middle-man, save like f*** and buy this.
The plum one's wrong, just WRONG! But the Helium's a beauty.
I saw both in real life at BD yesterday. The plum one looks so much better in real life, very nice indeed.
