Helium is the name Spector give to basses built with the water-cure redwood wings and ally bridge. Saves about a pound off the weight (depending on the top wood). Mine comes in at a very nice 8.5lbs
2. Very proud to present my Xmas gift to myself. Just picked this from Bass Direct; Spector NS2 Helium in black satin matte. Figured maple over reclaimed NYC water-tank redwood with a 3 piece graphite reinforced maple through neck. Active EMG PJ, 9v Spector pre with +/-15dB boost and cut (vol, pan, bass, treble). 34" scale, 24 fret Pau Ferro board with Abalone inlays, 16" radius, 1.64" nut and ebony head-stock veneer. All black Spector Aluminium bridge with brass saddles. Gotoh GB7 tuners. This bass looks, feels and sounds sublime. I'm still a bit stunned by it all!

8. There's not many threads about ugly players on BC as most members here are tarred with that brush. Except me of course, I'm beautiful!. What you need to do is get out of introductions and post a thread about power amps in 'Amps and Cabs'. Then we'll listen to what you have to say.... and then ban you ;-)

11.
And Captain Birdseye. All those unchaperoned children on that boat. It's a disgrace.
I know. And there was horse-meat in the chili con carne.
12.
Cryogenically treated valves? I thought the idea behind using valves was to get an 'authentic yesteryear warmth' - I don't think the Rolling Stones shifted their fish fingers out of the way to achieve that.
I dunno.. Bill Wyman was always shifting his
13. I've heard folk deride JJ's for being a bit cheap, but I always had them in my Matamp with no problems and they are currently in my Burman.. The one thing I've always tried to do is to let the head cool off before moving it.
14. Yamaha? Don't they make motorbikes?
15. This gets my vote for bass of the year that I shouldn't like but I do!
16. Lars from Rancid and The Bastards dons his Oi! cap with The Old Firm Casuals and comes up with this haunting anthem.. http://youtu.be/FAP8N_NRhQ8 Check out the full album 'This Means War', it's a cracker
