1.
What sort of price would you be looking at for Masterbuilt?
£4.5K ish
2. I'm trying to work out how the saddles are adjusted? They just seem to sit there with no noticeable backwards and forwards type screw things.
3.
No problem Sean, MU rates apply of course...
What, you get paid for knocking off others work?
4. Would you be able to record the theme tune from The Professionals and some of the incidental music from the show?
5.
I want to have a GT200 again so much. I know you specified "no trades" but what about a Sunn Beta Bass in top condition + cash your way ?
Thanks for the offer, but I'm wanting a cash sale
6.
The best amp ever, IMO. As heavy as a small house but nothing, NOTHING sounds as good to my ears. I remember watching Dood rocking one of these bad boys back in the day, brilliant sound.
It's truly a superb sounding amp
7. Looks a doosie Mark, absolute stunna. Can't wait for the sound files. Any chance you could do some isolated with just the bass? How would you describe the profile of the neck? Also I'm wondering what the depth is from the back to the first fret?
8. from seller.. Hi, well it is original. Squiers with JV serial numbers are made in Japan 1982-1984. This one is made in 1983. You can see it's full serial number in pictures. As I know Squier by Fender were meant for USA market. They are of way better quality than the later ones which were not made in Japan. You can search for more information online, there is plenty. 9.
I think you're all looking at this the wrong way. Surely the best thing to do would be to build a cradle that attaches to lots of helium balloons and float your amp around. Works for me! Truckstop
Sounds like a load of hot air to me
10. My JV's got SD pups! ..and the real one in a drawer. I wouldn't care if he made an effort to really try and hide it, but that bridge!
11. I think it's good that they are honest and open about Malcolm's condition. I think stuff like that can help others who are suffering from the same, whether families or individuals who can get a reference point on their own situation. Maybe some good will come from it in giving dementia some exposure and to help the fight against it.
12.
Dust and other detritus can settle on the strings and dull their tone. More-so with round wounds, where it's hard to effectively clean the tiny spaces between the winds.
I used to boil my rounds to get the grease out. This was a tip I got from Stuart Morrow, a hero of mine who I had the honour of humping his gear. The boiling certainly worked and brightened then up for a while.
13. My '83 JV has 13 holes, not including the pups and knobs. I think the information is most likely correct
14. I played through a Fender Rumble head in Wunjo and thought it sounded very nice
15.
There's a comment clamouring to be made here, given the subject of the post above. ...but I'm not going to make it.
Don't worry, I set 'em up and Discreet knocks 'em down
16.
My bass has ebony tone knobs. I don't think I anyone has ever noticed but me, yet it gives me great pleasure.
Respect for the knobs! I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it's just about the way something feels and the pleasure it gives you.
17. I can't believe were still ranting about BFH at 4am. Go to bed!
18. You probably just jammed the screws in at an angle and that's why they stopped turning. Maple is a very hard wood and it's not easy to screw into areas that have not been pre drilled. Those inserts are only of use if the screw holes have been seriously damaged by someone who has kept turning long after the screw had wanted to stop. As long as you ceased the pressure when the screws had wanted to stop then I'd stop worrying and enjoy the bass. But it's a little lesson to double check the neck is sitting properly in the pocket as you go.
19. Is there no original knocking about, then the value will more than likely hold. Or even a s/h CS?
20. I played through one and thought the tone ace, but all this talk of problems has put me right off. But I've heard that the PF800 has no issues at all. How come they can make that one work then?
21.
My son uses flatwound strings on his Epiphone Casino and because of the expense he usually uses the much cheaper but Rotosound Top Tapes. However, he has used TI Jazz Swing Flats but prefers the (also expensive) Pyramid Gold Flats.
How do Pyramids stack up against TI's and Bella's?
22. I'm not so sure, without referencing it with another one it's difficult to tell. Plus if it's new it might have some packing or something jammed in. Could you not take it back to the shop and compare with a display model?
