I'm sure she's a great sounding player, but I'm finding the styling a little meh. If the body is original, then I'd leave it be. Don't worry, I wont send any dump. Well, not unless you want me to. I know you have your little peccadilloes.

Well Mark, out of all your purchases this is my least favorite. Looks home made to me! Get rid of the black house paint effect and put some vintage white on. Keep the bridge.. burn the rest. Bi indeed! A spell in the Army would sort all that
If you paint that white, I'm going to sh*t in an envelope and post it to you.
Paint it white, or I'll sh*t in an envelope and post it to you. Plus I wont put a stamp on, so you'll have to pay for it.

Are you sure the FB is not glued on? -
After a bit of a wait I've got this back, but it's been worth the wait. All up-rated with a Quarter Pounder picked up on the forum, shielded cavities, new CTS pots, Switchcraft jack and orange cap, plus Gotoh GBR640 light weight tuners. The saddles were slammed right down with grubs sticking up, so the neck has been shimmed and now the saddles are perfect with no hand shredding grubs and a nice low action. All the original bits have been removed and stored should I ever want to put it back stock. The shielding has made a massive difference, passing the kitchen light dimmer test. I've been banging away on this all afternoon and it sounds and plays bloody luvverly Very happy indeed

Good review. I briefly fell out of love with my TBird and sold it on. Wish I hadn't now
Why would the Manchester Bass Lounge know any more than the members who have already commented?
Because they have made the commitment to sell them. I'm wondering if the MBL would knowingly sell something that it as flawed as everyone tries to make out?

Is there anyone from the Manchester Bass Lounge on the forum? Perhaps they'd like to give us their angle on the handles?
It's a personal view and not a shop one Sean. Although we do have a 'quality threshold' in the shop and there are some brands we won't stock (even in PX) because either they have build quality issues, poor customer service reputations or simply don't sound very good. This sometimes means we have to turn away business but we really try hard not to stick things we don't believe in.

Maybe that is why some shops don't stock them. I've been to the shop in question and it has a lot of high quality kit so I would think... and I don't presume to speak for them,..that certain products aren't what they are looking for and wont work for their market. Shops live or die on those decisions... but I am planning a visit again soon....when TKS get a range in, as it happens.
I didn't think any shops sell Barefaced. It's not even in the offing, Alex cuts out the middle man and sells direct, but I think retailers would be singing a different tune if he did.
-
I think I see where you're coming from but didn't get the TKS reference. It always feels to me that people are way more accepting of the often poor fit and finish of UK suppliers than they are of overseas ones. If the UK stuff was cheap then I guess I could understand it but when it's the same price but not anywhere near as well finished then I always end up scratching my head in amazement.
I wonder if you'd be saying this if you were selling them in your shop? Perhaps then you'd be highlighting the weight and aural delivery.
Oh I'm glad you like yours! The ergonomics were pretty nice, it felt like I was playing my SG electric rather than a bass. Can't say I was taken aback by the sound but I'm glad it floats somebody's boat.
I played one through an OBT and it sounded bostin'. I really like the way it looks, especially in cream or gold. I want one, trouble is I don't need one.

Billy Apple replied to Happy Jack's topic in General Discussion
Never liked Yes, but I do like their views on Chicks and strings. Always thought Jon Anderson sounded like a girl, but when he speaks he sounds like a proper bloke, so he's all right now in my book. Yes were the band that my big brother and his swotty 6th form mates liked. They were far too twiddly-diddly-warbly-warbly for me. Alas time has not mellowed my view Rush, however... -
