Fender Wide Range Humbucker, the original version was in the early 70s Telecaster Bass. I once got them for a project I wanted to do, and I got a used Fender MIJ 57 Precision at a good price (which sblueplanet now owns) as a donor, but I never got round to it after I left the only band I played in where I had a use for 4-string basses. Sold the bass, but still have the pickups. They're not vintage ones, they're the ones Fender used in the Squier Vintage Modified Precision TB and the MIC Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass I wanted to more or less replicate this Lotto Bass the Fender Custom Shop did a few years ago. It's like the bass equivalent of the Fender Tele Deluxe guitar:
I think that looks pretty cool -
Yes, regrettably it was set on the J pickup and as there were far too many controls on there for my puny brain, I didn`t realise - as never played a Dingwall before. Sure it would have made a difference if set to P.
That, and it's got wonky frets!

SOLD Warmoth Neck
Mr Apple, just a query. Warmoth neck are all "rounded heel" they tell me, as is yours on the Cabronita featured. Pictures of new Cabronitsa both Squier and Fender, show a squared off neck heel. So to fit that neck, did you need to do any routing of the neck pocket? Bump.
Yes, the Warmoth has a rounded heel. The body was made for the neck by Marc Rutter.. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/182246-la-cabronita-porazzo-custom-precision-build/page__hl__la%20cabronita -

After a bit of playing I've removed the cap mod. While it gave much more gain and bass to the treble pup, it did not improve tone which became somewhat muddy. It seemed to suck all the life from the neck pup, so I was playing just on the bridge pup. It lost the Ric sound and was like a duff P bass. Any-hoo, I gave it a try, but I'm glad to have the true Ric sound back.
All evidence points to the fact that Glastonbury is a purely commercial concern, but there is still the much-vaunted idea associated with Glastonbury that it stands for ... something or other, no one seems quite sure what, and that Michael Eavis is a philanthropist rather than a good old fashioned capitalist. Just let me be clear, I have no problem with festivals being run as commercial concerns purely for private profit. People pay their money and take their choice. If people want to spend a fortune to travel to a far-flung corner of Britain , get off their tits and watch mainly crap bands whilst availing themselves of horrific toilet facilities then be my guest. Just please stop trying to sell me the idea that it is such a wonderful life-affirming experience. I've had gastroenteritis and a terrible hangover at the same time in the past , and it was no fun whatsoever, even without a sh*t indie band for a soundtrack . What I do object to is the elevation of Glastonbury to being a national institution that everybody is obliged to celebrate and endorse.
My old Headmaster (RIP) is Michael Eavis's brother. Worthy Farm is held in trust for the Eavis family, and if my Headmaster's opinion was anything to go by, not all the Eavis's agree with it being used to host the festival. He thought his brother enjoyed being the local philanthropist by 'putting in a few stone styles for the locals' while the festival causes massive environmental damage to the area. You could imagine that we were exited thinking about free tickets when we found out, but the Head would have nothing to do with it. He was a great Headmaster, who had the respect of the town. A thoroughly decent man. I eventually went to Glastonbury in '87, hitchiking all the way from Newcastle. My faves were Pop Will Eat Itself, Stump, Gay Bykers, Hank Wangford and Doctor and the Medics. There was some interesting stuff on smaller stages and tents about the place. Headlining were New Order and Elvis Costello who were super dull. My abiding memory were bad toilets, rain, over priced food, peoples tents getting robbed and a bunch of anarco/hippy/punx next to us who were a real bunch of w***ers. I remember being up on a hill at night looking over the thousands of people, with their fires and rubbish and just thinking this looks like hell. Aye, good old days

Just plugged this one back in since a few changes. Massive difference with the Hipshot. Palm muting is no problem and the tone seems much rounder. Maple shims have been made to fill the routes under the bridge to help with contact, which I think helps. The Hipshot is a work of art.. Very well engineered. I've had the cap by-pass mod done on the treble pup (same as you can take the cap in and out on the push-pull on the 4003). This turns the treble pup into a right beast and is instantly pleasing, it proper growls! Although the balance between the two pups is out as the neck is just not there in comparison. If I could raise the neck pup up a bit, but it's at its maximum height. There is plenty of room under the strings so I'm going to have a look under the guard and see if any spacers could come out to give a bit more height. The pick-guardian surround is now on, so no more bashing my pick on the bumper. It does not have the same mojo as the original surround, but all in all, it's not half bad. Also I've now got 4 proper gear bolts on the back of the tuners. The set up is a bit low (after I asked Julian Mullan to lower it still ) and buzzing, so I think I need a quarter turn up on each saddle. The grub screws have been thread-locked to prevent saddle slamming, as have the tuner bolts to stop them dropping out. All round.. Excellent work! BTW, for any Ric purists who may see this as blasphemy, there is nothing that I have done which cannot be undone to put it back to standard without leaving a trace.

British?! We'll need a referendum on that one when it's done. What are you sealing it with?
