Sorry matey what did he do with the acoustic string? I got a piece of string/ bootlace with one of my straps, didn't have a clue what it was for ?
It's for an acoustic guitar with no front strap button. It goes under the strings around the head-stock by the nut.

NEW BASS DAY - Warning - Sexy Gibson content

That's as cool as hell. Are you keeping the bridge cover on? -
When? If Fender have given written permission then that is ok - but I doubt that still applies as Fender are now selling their own. That is the point - the logo and headstock shape belongs to Fender. They get to decide what happens to it. They can grant permissions or not.
I got it around 3 or 4 years ago. I put it on a P body of unknown pedigree from eBay. Sold it to Alex Clabber and he uses it to demo Barefaced cabs.
Please quote the original bit I quoted before you selectively quote me! I said that he couldn't buy a Warmoth, Allparts, Mighty Mite neck with a logo on it. And he can't! Of course Fender can sell you a neck with Fender on it!
I've bought a Mighty Mite one with a decal. Brand new from an authorized distributor. He said as it was licensed it was allowed to wear the Fender badge.

Sorry Fretmeister, I can't quote you on my phone. I don't think you are correct. If this is the case then how come I can buy an Allparts, Warmoth or Mighty Mite neck with a decal and no requirement to fit it to a Fender body?
-
GK MB200. Easily up to it when I can't be arsed with the SVT Pro II.
-
If they are Allparts necks then they are Fender licensed and perfectly entitled to a Fender decal.

Outstanding work -
Bridge gunk = Bunk.

I've just spoken to Howard and he asked that our community is updated with news of his health and the situation around outstanding work. Howard has ongoing respiratory issues and regrettably this means he can no longer undertake work that produces dust and vapour. He has contracted out some jobs, and is finishing what he can. He is aware people are waiting and has asked that members remain patient while he works through the back log. At present I cannot say whether all outstanding work will be completed and I cannot comment on any monies paid by members who are waiting for items. Knowing Howard as I do I'm sure everything will be resolved, but please can members understand this may take some time. May I take this opportunity to wish Howard a speedy recovery and I'm sure all in our community will be sending out good thoughts and best wishes for his return to health. Sean

NBD - Limelight Jazz Bass 1960 YOB *Spitfire Guard!*
Billy Apple replied to discreet's topic in Bass Guitars
I played a friend of mine's pre-CBS Jazz (around 62-64, I think) and it looks like it has been buried in the garden for about fifty years - body, neck, fingerboard, everything a very dark walnut-brown with a huge thumb-hole above the bridge pup! Just lovely to play and sounds great, though. To be fair, my new baby has just a touch more, er... 'mojo' than I would perhaps have liked, but the real ones do look kind of similar... Edit: Right, I'll go an take some more pics now.
It's just my opinion, one mans medium is another mans heavy. Lovely bass tho and I'm sorely tempted. -
Made in Scotland, apparently.
I thought that was the body, neck too? -

Very nice Mark. But if this is your idea of a moderate relic, I'd like to see your version of a heavy one! I'm interested in the neck, Allparts do you think? More pics please! -
I've got a GK MB200 and I don't half like the tone, plus for the size of it, it's f***-loud. I've been thinking about a 500 however I really like the look of the 550. Any players of that here?
Someone's been down the pub on a warm summer Sunday night...
All day drinking in a very beautiful garden South London celebrating the Lady Bones' getting her indefinite leave to remain from the Home Office. Completely forgotten I'd written this . For anyone else reading, this is most definitely a joke.

I've never met Skenk, but IMHO he's too clever by half. And with that in mind, he should be hung from the yard arm and shot
If I had the money, space & spine for a big valve amp then I would most definitely have a Matamp GT200 or an Ampeg SVT-2 Pro, maybe both to pick and choose from
Highly recommended

Ive recently played a brand new Rockinbetter and 4003 and the differences are pretty easy to spot. When I bought my 4001 I PM'd members here for help with sales I was looking at. This keeps things in line with marketplace rules and also keeps the noses of the diddly-donks out with their 'constructive' comments. Get yourself up to that Londinium and make an appointment with Andy Baxter. He always seems to have a slew of vintage Rics in, even if you don't buy you'll get a feel for them and start to know what to look for. But, TBH I think it's pretty easy to spot a faker

I've just put my first set on my 4001 and really enjoying them. However they are neck and neck with the La Bellas on my others
Actually why not just play the same bass over and over again - you know half the people won't notice. It is a Precision after all and they all sound the same. . .
You know what Barrie, there's no need to rain on the parade. Sometimes it's not about anything more than getting out the house, meeting with good people and enjoying what life brings.

Hipshot Rickenbacker Bridge - Saddles Gone Mad!
Billy Apple replied to spongebob's topic in Repairs and Technical
Where did you buy yours from? Aluminum or brass? I bought my ally one from Mark as Bass Direct.
The very same. The brass one was a tenner more but is heavier. I had an ally Supertone on my TBird and the sound was great. -
Hipshot Rickenbacker Bridge - Saddles Gone Mad!
Billy Apple replied to spongebob's topic in Repairs and Technical
There were reports of saddles moving side to side on early Hipshot Ric bridges, but I thought they had that cured (I hope so, I've just bought one). I'm lucky to already have Loctite in the house, but I hear a drop of clear nail varnish will cure moving grubs. -
It`s in Hatfield. I`ve just added a link to the original thread in my first post. Be nice to see a JV there.
*cough* and er, me of course

anyone used guitarstoreonline? or GAK
Billy Apple replied to hollywoodrox's topic in General Discussion
I bought a Danelectro from GAK that had a crack in the body when it arrived. Returned for full refund with no bother.
