1. When is the bash? I can offer my original Squier JV.. RB with flats.
2. That's just me, George, I could spend some time with the bridge, but I'm itching to get it out and played. Plus I don't really see a way forward with my palm muting with the Ric mute in front of the bridge. I plays how I plays and I like what I likes. Listen, in the olden days I would persevere with the grub screw on a BBOT digging in my hands, but not anymore. I like to make things my own.
3.
My 1st bass too! I have a picture of me with stone-washed jeans and a perm and a 1A. Priceless....
Get it up! Here's me with my first (not the one here) WT1A. 1985, if memory serves.. My, how things have changed!.. Although the over-hanging thumb technique has not!
4. All bolts from Rosetti have been cancelled and returned. I got four UNC12's from ebay for £3, although they are too long and need cutting. I've also bought a Hipshot which came today and have ordered a Pickguardian treble surround. I'm a mad palm-muter and was having issues with the bridge, plus my pick was banging on the bumper. There are pro's and cons with this bass, but I'm sorting the niggles because for me the neck is what I have been waiting for. I love the flatness and parallelness of it. Plus it sounds ace. I'm wondering how much the Hipshpt will alter tone tho, and I'm considering the .0047 cap bypass.
5. How come I'm spending thousands on bass gear and here's some bloke who turns up with two sticks.
6.
Some shots from last Sunday at Kew Market:
How much for a pound?
7. Any pics of the lacquer? Was this a vintage sunburst TBird, as I had a new one ('11) and the finish was flawless.
8.
I ended up with a Zoom B3 that way if Octave isn't the answer I can try other things.
If you bought it from here for what seems to be the going price you have no doubt got it for what seems to be the going price for Aq Octimizers and the B3 does an awful lot more besides. Plus, if it's not for you, you'll shift it on pretty quick. Win win really.
9. It's a redundant statement to say all the old Kay/Satellite/Axe/etc basses are crap. Of course they are crap. They are cheap starters and can never be seen as anything else but. However, my mate got a Satellite bass in '79 along with a cereal box sized combo and Bass-balls fuzz pedal, and to us it was the best thing ever. I was far more disappointed with my MIM Mike Dirnt P Bass that was so heavy it was unplayable. The shortest lived bass for me was a Burns Bison. With no tone, power and a head that hits the floor, it came out of the box was played for around a minute and returned back to the shop. Wild Dog? Wild f***-All more like!
10. You can't go wrong with a Mejicano. It's the ideal titfer for all occasions.
11. More bands is more opportunity to wear the whole selection of hats.
12.
PM'd again
I've phoned you a couple of times and received no reply, and sorry I won't email you outside of the forum.
13.
just got this one from nashville, awesome neck flat as a board, so easy to play.
What colour is that?
14.
I would prefer a clean one, what would you suggest? Cheaper the better.
Don't get the Aquilar, the octave filter gets quite dirty
15. I had the same idea, but my Ag Oct only goes down and you need up too. I heard something called an Organiser, don't know who makes it, but it sounded pretty good. Happy Jack has one. In the meantime I use chorus
16. Yes, Barrie, £222 is more than £200. I don't understand why you quoted me?
17.
A decent set of valves can go over £200 without allowing for biasing etc
But you bias the SVT yourself. £222 for a matched set of six Gold Lion (the best according to Matamp) KT88's from Hot Rox. http://www.hotroxuk.com/genalex-gold-lion-kt88.html
18. HOORAY! Just got this baby back from Julian Mullen. All sorts of niggles have been cleared up. Now strung with a set of TI Jazz flats, the neck is what I've been waiting for all this time.. dead straight with an action lower than Discreet's sense of humour. It's on a stand in my living room and I can't stop admiring it!
19. Cool. As a proud SVT Pro II user (that I gig and carry) I was going to say buy it! If the weight gets you down you can always sell it on
20. My JV has pronounced router hump by the pocket on the lower horn, which this doesn't. Mine has no serial number on the back of the neck, plus the date on the heel is feint due to it being underneath the lacquer. You'd have to see it in person to tell if the date had been written on later, and get a look at the pocket, routes and p's&p's. But, I'd pass.
21.
I wish my tort pickguard looked as nice as that one
It is nice, cheers. But, not as nice as the ones on the original '62's. At least mine hasn't shrunk!
22.
Ta! How are you getting on with that R*ck*nb*ck*r?
I'm still waiting for F*ck*ns*re*s to arrive for the tuners
