I have wired the pedal to be an "Always On" synth effect, However adding a switch to the pedal to go back to normal mode should not be to difficult! 70 of you finiest British pounds ONO Sound samples of the mod can be heard here:

So not much of a build diary to this one as its already finished. Oops! =) Anyway this bass started of life as a Black 50's reissue Fender Precision with a laquer neck looking like this: Now however it looks like this now!!! Here's a run down of what I had done to the bass: - Added Telecaster Bass/Mudbucker Pickup (This is the hottest pickup in the world. It is SO VERY LOUD) - Replaced stock pickup with a Bare Knuckle 58 Split. Really Brings out the sound of the bass. Probably the best P bass pickup I have heard and would recommend everyone upgrade if they can! - Added a 3 way Telecaster Pickup Selector. Standard Postion 1 Tele Bass, Postion 2 both, Postion 3 P Bass - Added Darkstrike from Talkbass Coil Tap Switch for Tele Bass pickup on Mini Toggle. The switch diagram can be found here:http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/taming-beast-squier-vm-telebass-mudbucker-524029/ I find this switch INCREDIBLY versitile and really expands the usability of the Tele bass pickup. Surprisingly the Parallel position on the switch is the brightest rahter than the single coil. If you have a bass with a Tele Pickup in it, do this mod! it helps so much. Positions 1- Full Humbucker(series) 2- Single Coil(Bridge Coil) 3- Full Humbucker(Parallel) - Replaced Pots with two 280k pots from Bareknuckle. And they are bright as anything! - Pots changed to Jazz bass style independant Volumes for each pickup. No Tone control, never used it. - Added Styling. Added P bass Pickup Cover, Lion pendant (I call the bass PantheraLeo, Yes I'm one of THOSE guys who names their basses, shut up!) Jazz Bass Knobs, Racing Strips (just black electrical tape, will replace as it gets dirty) I orginally added a Jazz bass bridge cover, but found I wanted to play palm muted and with my thumb a lot so I took it off. Its actually a nice touch to still have holes there as if it were a 50's P bass with the covers taken off. I think that pretty much covers it for the build on the bass. What do you guys think of it? I can say having played it, that this is exactly what I was looking for out of the bass when I started this little project. I really wanted to be able to switch to a darker, muddier sound for quiet sections of sounds, and to get Old School bass tone on so many records. With both pickups on full its actually quite clean and bright. I play a lot of chords, and middle position is my go to for that. The P bass is very aggressive and drives tube amps well. I was thinking of getting the bass reliced at some point, but because the finish it nitro i'll just wait a few years and do it myself over time! Word to wise when modding this bass. Be very care taking the pickguard off and on the bass, Because the finish is so thin, the metal scratch plate with mark the paint. But thats not problem if you are looking for the roadworn look like I am! If you guys are interested, I can post sound samples over the weekend of the bass.

I think you can get a right angle jack in there. I held a couple at Plasa and they were a bit beefy, If you use them backwards i'm sure there is enough room to get them to fit.
-
Saw these at Plasa yesterday, checked them out online and they sound incredible! Their 5w tube combo awesome sounds awesome. They also have some pretty ingenius switching soultions (ie a pedal for switching between heads that go into the same cab!) Bass Effects here with sounds samples on each page: http://www.palmer-germany.com/mi/en/Products/Bass-Effects.htm Have a click around their site for their other stuff. Getting my order in soon for the Deepressor and the Octave pedal i can remember the name of.

Thank you all for your input! I thought another 4x8 would sound good, thats the concenus it seems. I've never played a rig with mixed speakers, so not sure what to think about mixing. I have herad some people say its not a brilliant idea, but then companies seem to reccomend it. Interesting... I would love another 48 preferably, but I'd probably still take a 115 mini if anyone has one. Should you know anyone who has one, Pm me or get them to post in my wanted thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/218879-ashdown-abm-mini-15s-or-48s/page__p__2233186#entry2233186 Again preferably one with the Ashdown ones with the curvy handles!!!
-
So I just bought a Ashdown MIni 48 and I couldn't be happier with it! Its exactly the sound I was expecting and hoping for. What do other player who have this cab or similar use it with, another 4x8 or a 115? Ashdown did both as a matched set and I'm trying to find either, but which would be better for a even tone and a tad better handling of the lowest notes?
-
Reminds me a lot of a Westone Thunder, especially the later ones.
-
SuperEgo/Freeze owners, Do you find that the effect is quite useful for bass? Does it help add layers under the band when you play with one?
-
I think I'd my VTBD more useful than this. I used to play with just a VTB pedal, and I always wanted more settings, or at least more gain in places. Surely running one of those straight into the PA or into a power amp is way more verstile. Never got Rack stuff me, But VT anything is just killer.
