1. I've got a s/h German Corvette $$! Two humbuckers which can be individually coil tapped for parallel/series/single-coil Bass/treble Pick-up pan Passive/Active Adjustable nut/all-round good, reliable hardware Nice chunks of wood Good-lookin' What's not to like?
2. Bought Lee's Monster cables off him! Great communication and really well packaged too! Appreciate the 'Ben Jammin' address Top bloke - deal with confidence!
3.
MM pickup. Preamp. Most importantly of all, Hipshot Bass Tremolo.
Oh dear. I'm going to have to look into those tremolo bridges now, and I bet they don't come cheap! In terms of an overdue update, I've fine sanded it all down, and I've got my hands on a Fender bridge/tuning machine set which will do for the moment... I figure I'm going to buy some CTS pots and wire just the SP2 up, fix it all together and see how it sounds. I've recently acquired an EBS Valve Drive which gives some nice vintage tube-ness and I kind of fancy a vintage P now, going through my 15 - sorry that's a bit dull! Hopefully I'll find the sound too limited and go for the tremolo and MM p'up! My Warwick $$ Corvette has a good tonal palette though so I might just skip the years of trying different basses and settle for a Precision with a tube like everyone else seems too! I do really like that tremolo though. Really like it. Then there's the colour. I really like the CAR suggestion, but I saw a butterscotch P the other day with a black p'guard... Darn my indecisiveness!
4. Those 12/other silly number of strings basses! Why? The fingerboards are as wide and playable as my desk and they sound horrible on the ridiculously low/high strings. If you want that kind of range play piano! Compensating for something?
5. Is that Grundig mic still around? Is it one of these?
6. 50p on a Dunlop Tortex one in Denmark Street. Big thick triangular one x2 of the yellow/green variety. I felt bad because as soon as walked into the shop I got the slightly distasteful look from the bloke behind the till that he knew I was only there to play the nice basses and then leave with no intention or interest in purchasing anything. SLR camera kind of made it obvious I was a tourist. And the Muse shirt. And the fact that Muse were playing in Wembley that night.
7. Hey guys, my friend's selling his Washburn EA16 on. It's a pretty groovy electric acoustic that's rather good for it's price! The pre-amp goes: treble/mid/bass/volume/presence/in-built tuner/battery-check light. XLR and jack output, under-saddle tape mic, sounds cool both plugged/unplugged. Plays quite nicely too! Grover tuners, mahogany back/sides, rosewood board, black binding with a spruce top and a groovy metallic blue finish In mint condititon, comes with gigbag and lead - all for £100, very much open to offers though? It looks exactly like: Cheers!
8. +1 on Matamp making some amazing stuff. I'm looking into getting a head built by these guys. My brother's a guitarist and his Matamp is fantastic - by far the best amp I've heard. I'd go for it if I had the cash right now, it's exactly what I've have them make myself anyway! Good luck with the sale!
9. This + nice set of headphones + on your own = very good listening.
10. Yeah love the look of those Ekos... if you ever decide to get rid I'll take it off you Well I can't say I've tried one but that looks like it'd do the trick - don't know about the whole 'high-output' vibe on an acoustic bass though? I would've thought you'd want something a bit cooler sounding, not hot, on an acoustic. Never heard it though. Still... Precision pick-ups and tone/volume controls?
11. Here's another Eko! A bit whacky, but I actually think it's rather cool It'd solve the problem anyway! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Eko-Acoustic-Bass-Gu...=item3cb7bd2553
12. Ah I'm sorry to hear it, I guess a Jazz is pretty different to a Warwick! I have days when I really do miss that Jazz, but I need the 5 strings, and the Warwick is equally ace in it's own way Gary's a really great guy to trade with and I can testify to that Jazz being pretty groovy! Hope you find the right bass mate
13. I'd go for the 212. You don't need two tweeters for two speakers and they're not that big, and you can always just turn down on the amp. Plus it's cheaper than buying two 112s
14.
Daphne Blue nitro. Something I've been going to do to a bass for years
Daphne blue would be nice My brother's got a '72 Thinline Deluxe Tele in that colour with maple and it's a beaut! (Edit for a better photo)

Ideas?

Hi! Here's the deal: my friend was throwing out his old Encore P-bass, since he's moved on to bigger and better and the poor thing was totally trashed. No screws in the pickguard, missing nut, pots broken and the coils in the p'ups had somehow unwound themselves. However, rather than see it get dumped, I offered to take it off his hands and hopefully make something of it! So here it is at the moment: The original finish was a thick black and ridiculously hard to sand off! The headstock used to be more P style, but at some point my friend had taken a chisel to the headstock to get rid of the Encore logo. Which worked but it obviously didn't look particularly pretty, so I've re-shaped it Tele-style! So the whole thing's bare wood at the moment, apart from the fingerboard which is still finished (basswood body and maple/rosewood neck, all nice and solid). I've got a spare black p'guard and some Seymour Duncan SPB2 p'ups, but apart from that I'm pretty indecisive on what to do with the thing! Sooo... anyone got any ideas? For hardware/extra stuff/any crazy concepts!
16.
I was wondering if anyone knew what wood the body is? I have searched the internet with no luck, different sites say it is basswood (good!) others say 'composite'! Or, is there a way of telling the type of wood from visual inspection?
I'm in the middle of an Encore project at the moment - mine's basswood, and it's definitely solid! All the Encores I've come across have been basswood, but no doubt there are some other woods kicking around in some models.
17. Here's a mix Newborn - Muse Grounds For Divorce - Elbow National Anthem - Radiohead Travelling Without Moving - Jamiroquai
18. Buy a black 'guard and build a Wolstenholme Jazz? Otherwise, no. 1 looks pretty cool
19.
Would an Alleva Coppolo do Joe? One of our two ex demo KPB4s could do with some free-loan exercise.
Darn! I'll exercise the other one if you want? I've got a studio session, erm, sometime...
20.
As you say he has so many effects it's difficult to tell what they sound like... I haven't been particularly impressed so far but maybe he's still getting used to them. He's been recording with an old S2 for years but never played it live because he didn't like the look of headless basses, his 4 new ones are all headed. They're working on prototypes for a signature S2 Classic at the moment, should be ready fairly soon.
Yeah I've been a bit disappointed recently, but I don't think it's just down to the Status'. What with Bellamy achieving something of a 'guitar-hero' status recently, I think their sound guys seem to be emphasizing Matt a bit too much imo. Went to see them at Wembley last year - Chris went into Hysteria on the Kingbass (I think, he changed bass practically every song) and it sounded ace, but they had him turned down so low in the mix, when the guitar/drums came in he was pretty much drowned out, which kind of defeats the point of the entire song, being one of the most famous for bass in the rock genre.
21. I've noticed Mr. Wolstenholme of Muse has acquired quite a few of his own Status' lately... and he's hardly a slap bassist! If he's touring them, they certainly can't be lacking finger-style Might be worth checking out a couple of 2010/11 Muse live shows, like the Seattle one they did a while back. Although half the time he'll be going through some fuzz/synth pedal
22.
Edited out most of the items, not musically related at all.
Sorry, I'd hoped since the only use I had for them was for band stuff and watching bass/music DVDs they might just pass. But you're right; apologies.
23.
You really have to state what price you are looking for for each of these items.
Sorry! I realised just after I posted it - edited the original post Cheers!
24. Hi! Just having a clear-out/fund-raiser for my Precision bass project There were some other items on this post but they were removed if you read the posts below - just to avoid confusion! So I've got a pair of Matsui speakers, model no. MHF 808R. They're rather decent and in good condition, haven't used them in a while since I replaced them with a very nice Logik set So they've just been sitting in the corner, as you can see! The only reference I can find to them is a brief mention in a research article in 'the Journal of Experimental Biology': http://jeb.biologists.org/content/213/9/16...ourcetype=HWFIG (paragraph before the footnotes, could be an interesting read I s'pose?) £15?
25.
Had a last minute gig last night at a local pub, and it was awesome! I played my Squier P, and oddly enough I got far more compliments about my bass' looks and sound in one evening than I have in numerous gigs with my Warwick... me no understand!
Haha funny that, I was playing the same model Warwick yesterday, judging by your Avatar
