Bands you adore that no one else has ever heard of...
Roland Rock replied to TrevorR's topic in General Discussion
Bivouac were amazing live but disappeared without a trace.
Singer/guitarist Paul is mate of mine. They had reunion tour last year but then went their separate ways again. -
It should be totally fine; Euro voltage is the same as ours. It's just the lead you'll need to change. I've bought and sold with Spain, Portugal and Germany with no issues.

Rate the bass above you; the guilty pleasure edition.
Too square for me amd looks quite cheap and tacky for my taste. My guilty passion bass would be :- Had one years ago and quite fancy another but price puts me right off. Dave
Lovely bass, but I have a dislike of the forearm cutout exposing a contrasting g wood - one of my irrational deal breakers. Gorgeous other than that though. Here's one of my GAS basses: [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/obj272geo162pg2p411_zpscawixdb5.png" class="ipsImage" /> -
Albums you think are crap but are critically acclaimed...
Roland Rock replied to julesb's topic in General Discussion
In The Court Of The Crimson King. Apart from 21st Century Schizoid Man & Epitaph it's utter nonsense IMO. All their other albums (up to Thrak) I can (& do) segue up & cheerfully OD on, but not 'Court'. Blue Oyster Cult. The three studio albums before Agents of Fortune are, in the main, quirky, angular slices of serious goodness, but AoF is just FM Rock dross.
I like most of Court of the Crimson King, but agree Agents of Fortune is forgettable pap. -
I'm a bit of a music technophobe so please go easy... Will it do synthy sub with sustain? Around 2:30 here for an example: http://vimeo.com/35167872 Also can it do the classic sleng teng bass sound? http://youtu.be/Wjw7m-BKmQ8
Bumping this request - any help appreciated! -
I can see Deliveroo people getting mugged up and down the country by One10 owners

Custom 5 String Precision Bass in the style of Nash Guitars
Roland Rock replied to shadowalka's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Markstuk, do you have any experience with Shuker? I'm aware of his work but to be honest don't like some of his designs (particularly the headstock). However I like some of his work in the gallery.
If you specify a Fender style headstock, Jon will make it so -
I tried a few different combinations but the best by far was an Avalon U5 into a Crest CA9 power amp. Not hugely flexible, bulky and heavy, but fantastic and deep and clean and loud and awsome.

Search the forums for bargain Focusrite equipment*. Then you can sell on at no loss if you don't get on with it. *Vested interest
Fergal Sharkey, after leaving the Undertones and a short solo career, didn't leave the music industry, but worked for some Government QUANGO to do with the industry bit never performed again AFAIK
Mickey Bradley, bassist from the Undertones, became a local BBC radio presenter. My mum sometimes gave him a lift to work.

Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart retired from music in the early 80s and became a very well respected artist (expressionist paintings) until his passing a few years ago.
Where did you find this? I need to know RIGHT NOW! I am mentally selling things as I type this.
Haha, it was on Ritter's Facebook page. Looking forward to your NBD thread!

Albums you think are great but are critically panned
Roland Rock replied to Cat Burrito's topic in General Discussion
I don't think many of the Black Crowes albums were that well received but I adored Amorica and Three Snakes and One Charm.
I agree, both are great. three snakes was seen as a bit of a dark and dodgy time for the band but there are some cracking tunes on there. I love Lions as well -

This has just descended into a stuff you don't like thread -
Just found it on the Ritter site - didn't realise from Roland Rock's post that it is actually "upholstered" - amazing!
I didn't realise that either. I love Jens Ritter's approach to design

The Princess Isabella guitar has been around for while (favoured by George Benson IIRC) and now the bass... [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/FB_IMG_1484856206685_zps1qnmvm21.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> The bass itself is rather nice, not sure about the wallpaper finish though

Excellent. Happy stomping!

Selling a bass without changing strings?
Roland Rock replied to jamusbass's topic in General Discussion
Nothing judicial, just trying to see if I have the facts straight ...so the piss has made the strings rusty, yes? -
I've enjoyed stuff like Daft Punk's Random Access Memoirs recently as the production is so good so anything of that ilk would be great. What is out there?
Try "It's Album Time" by Todd Terje Enjoy your trip 🌞❄
