What's the best looking bass for £300 or under
Roland Rock replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
No idea if they are any good, but the cheapo Gretsch looks lovely http://www.gak.co.uk/en/gretsch-g2220-junior-jet-bass-ii-black/53156 Also the Bass Collection 'Lizzy' bass looks quite sexy with the mirror scratchplate: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/bass-collection-lizzy-bass-jet-black/43317 -
The EA Doubler. The clue's in the name ;-)

Loved the quality, looks and playability. Never got a tone that was right for me in a band mix :-(

I'm hoping that my active bass works well with the Oxide. The Mastotron has the impedance control which works a treat,
-
You can get specially trained woodworm to do it. I think.

What are you listening to right now?
Floozies - Two brothers
Really liking this, thanks for posting. Got the Album on Spotify now. -
I've not played one, but have heard several demos of the fairfield circuitry unpleasant surprise and it sounds really really good
I love the manual: "Onset Control - Turn it up for more saturation, longer sustain. Down for sputtery ad-lib farts" Sounds great!

The ZVex Mastotron sounds great, is reasonably priced, and works well with active basses. I've heard differing accounts as to whether the Mastotron is technically 'gated' but it certainly has that sound - the Waveform knob when fully clockwise sounds really 'pinched' BTW, I'm just buying an Oxide at the moment, and will have a play and keep my favourite, so I'll have one of them on the market soon

This is a very high quality 2U power amp. I got this in a trade, but in hindsight it was quite an impulsive move, and I don't really need it. It does a hell of a lot of stuff: - Up to 2000 Watts output, either in Stereo or Bridge/Mono (Depending on your cabs' impedence) - Very clean, ultra low distortion, transparent sound - Many features such as Low Pass Filters, Crossovers, etc. Find out more here: http://www.crownaudi...l_operation.pdf It's in very good condition. There is a tiny scratch near the right level control, but other than that, pretty much as new. It is currently in a mint condition Warwick Rockbag rack bag. If you want this, it'll be another £20, otherwise, it will come in a generic used-but-functional 2U rackbag. Here's an example of how you can set it up with 2 4Ohm cabs: I put the preamp from my Glockenklang head into the Crown. One cab handles lows better than the other, so I set up a crossover so that anything below 90Hz went through one cab, and the rest through the other. You can select the crossover frequency to your requirements. Such a versatile piece of kit. Oh yeah, that setup puts 800 watts into EACH cab, each being independently adjustable. With the press of a button, you could set it up in mono, kick in a preset, or make the whole thing a sub-bass leviathan. Price wise, these are £550 new, unless you're mental enough to shop here: http://www.soundbasemegastore.com/pa-amplifiers/28199-crown-xti-2000-2000w-amplifier-with-dsp.html?gclid=CLzrncG0ir4CFUcUwwodIXQAgQ There are two used examples on EBay at the moment for £400 plus £20 p&p This is £350, plus £18 p&p, including rackbag and handy xlr>jack cable for connecting your preamp. I'm in Nottingham, and you're welcome to view or try it out. I can bring it to the Midlands Bass Bash if that helps anyone My Feedback

The Postal Penalty of Moving Things On
Roland Rock replied to discreet's topic in General Discussion
No brainer. You paid the agreed price for the instrument, and then paid for someone to deliver it to your door. That delivery money is gone, spent, irredeemable. -
I ordered the Vein Tap last night, with the custom layout, and it's now completed and in in the post!
The chap at bright onion will make it however you want. I've not dealt with him, but my prev singer had a few custom bits made by him & said he was a top notch guy. Well put together too. The other option, if you're handy with a soldering iron, is to make your own. Making a bypass looper is about as hard as sticking lego together (AKA it's not hard). This way you can have things laid out how you want. I can get you a schematic if you like(in easy to follow format too)?
Very nice of you, thanks. I'm rubbish at soldering, although I've just seen the attached, which I'd like to have a stab at :-) The nice man at Vein Tap says he'll make one to my preferred layout for £22.45 posted, so I think I'll go with that. Thanks all
I'm guessing that's the Barefaced 69er? May I enquire as to how it sounds and how easy it is to get about? I'm looking in to getting myself one soon!
It is indeed the '69er. It happens to be for sale, so you won't be surprised to hear me say that it sounds gorgeously even yet ballsy, and you couldn't imagine an easier 6x10 to get about. It's a one hand lift. Check the FS forum for more details, but alas I don't have the materials to package it up for courier :-(

A (P) ashtray doesn't fit over a Badass (III), I've tried :-(

Thanks DB. My ideal pedal would have input/output on one side and send/return on the other. I've contact both bright onion an vein tap to get a price. I can't imagine it would be a difficult mod!
-
Well that took all of ten minutes, thanks Basschat. The Lehle looks very sexy, but is more than I want to spend. The Bright Onion looks absolutely perfect, thanks. Specifically this one http://www.brightonion.co.uk/products/Mini-Looper.html

Hi, I need to quickly switch between clean and multiple effects, so am after a loop bypass pedal. Anyone know any good quality little units out there?

Streaming the new Tune-Yards' album, Nikki Nack, before its release next week - gorgeous quirky pop, Merrill Garbus is a true original talent. http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/apr/28/tune-yards-nicki-nack-album-stream -
I went along to a jam session one time when I was between bands, hoping to sit in for a few blues numbers or covers. It turned out that it was just a series of pre-arranged full bands playing a few songs each. Disappointing :-( I used to go to a jazz jam night in York, that was much better. There was a house band, but they would let anyone up who wanted a turn, and it was great fun. I remember being particularly inspired by Scott Devine playing some seriously funky stuff one night. Then I'd get up and stumble through Autumn Leaves :-D
