A lot going on with my amps at the moment. I love my Red Iron amp through the '69er, retro heaven. However I have recently gravitated towards a more clean fundamental sound for my band, and the Glockenklang is great at that. The Glock is currently paired with the '69er, but will soon be paired up with the Super Twin, which arrives on Monday Then I 'accidentally' bought another head! The Trace Twin Valve popped up on BC for a very low price, and I knew it would be snapped up in minutes. I was in the middle of typing the usual "I'm not in the market, but bargain, GLWTS" post, when something made me delete that and PM the seller offering full asking price instead ...and I like it a lot! I like the 'Dualit toaster' looks, and it's not too heavy. It's really easy to carry in one hand with one of the side handles. It has been around the BC block a bit, and has a few scars; it has a couple of broken/use-the-fingernail EQ sliders and a replaced master knob. I've not had the chance to really push the power valves yet, but it seems to be really loud with a lovely core tone. There is a mid EQ shape button which, when engaged, gets really fat (possibly scooped?) and is great for my reggae basslines. My only trouble now is deciding which amp to gig! I think that lack of space/money will mean that I'll have to decide which cab works best with all these heads, and return/sell the other. Before I do that, however, I want to play the 'Power Rangers' rig at least once. This is stacking the Super Twin on top of the '69er, then put the Glock and my Crown power amp on top of that. I put the Glock pre into the Crown to get 800w into each cab, either all frequencies to both, or crossed over with Super Twin getting everything <90Hz and the '69er getting everything >90Hz What fun

Something I read today reminded me of this thread, so I thought I'd share: Unilever were launching a new shampoo into the Asia market, just before the copy went off for label printing, a bored/mischievous employee added the phrase "Contains the X9 Factor" (of course there was no such thing) The labels were printed, and Unilever, although a bit miffed, decided a recall was too expensive, so just let the millions of bottles onto the shelves. After they had all sold, Unilever created a new batch, this time without the offending bullshit statement. They were inundated with complaints; people were outraged that they dare get rid of "X9 Factor", without which the shampoo was nowhere near as good, and now their hair lacked lustre and body. Nothing to do with bass, but hopefully a good illustration of placebo effect.

Wow, The Boy's late entry! I'm really impressed with this talented composer for the second month in a row. Superb tune. I may have to rethink my vote.

100 Bass Guitars to Play Before you Die!

I've just accidentally bought another amp. Oops. A lot of it is down to carelessness.
I wonder what happens if you play fifty fifty originals and OPs.
You use your own rig for half the set :-D
Hi people of low end after a ideas really. It's a through neck very slim profile bass all works fine got in local trade just wondering what they are bringing on secondhand market cheers
You're in the review forum, so not surprising that there have been no responses. Maybe you'd have more luck in the main Bass Guitar forum. And people will want pictures :-)
Just because the amp has an EQ bypass or no EQ controls at all doesn't mean the circuitry in it isn't adding some"colour" to your sound. And anyone who thinks it isn't is somewhat naïve.
Agreed, but does anyone here really think that? If 'flat EQ' were to be interpreted as 'zero overall colouration' then no-one would be able to answer in the affirmative :-D

I have recently started running mine flat on the amp (I know it's flat as I press the button that totally bypasses the EQ) Full treble cut on the bass - sounds superb
Ashdown CTM300!
That's more of an integrated amp than a power amp, no?
-
So basically, if you're in a covers band, you rarely play with other bands and therefore always use your own rig. If you're in an originals band, you often play with other bands, so often use others' rigs. Fair enough?
Is it that sort of travelling that the OP is doing..?
In my world, that's the ONLY way to go travelling :-)
-
When I was travelling, I had an acoustic bass. Bulky, but light. No amp needed and loud enough to play along with an acoustic guitar. No electricity needed either, so good for busking/campfires etc.

GASed for an ACG preamp for a while, but then gigged my bass a couple of times and realised that it sounds great as it is. I have vague money-no-object GAS for a bass that may not even exist - a long-scale 5 string Status Kingbass with 19mm spacing, filter EQs, and black graphite weave finish. Preferable without bendwell.
-
I love the way the pre and power amps sit in that black sleeve - they look like they belong together as a single, cool head.
