1. I'm not sure what his name is, but here's a pic:
 2.
There are 6 rigs(that I can read at least) with 1 or two being maybes. I suggest that if someone can't bring so rig and someone else does and can then they effectively take their spot on the rig list?
That seems like the sensible approach :-)
 3.
Not wishing to put a dampener on things, but past experience of Midlands events shows that we might expect a lot of people to drop out at the last minute. I think you're right to put a limit on gear, but I'm sure the space will be fine. :-)
Thanks :-) Yeah, looking at past bash threads, there are always those for whom something comes up at the last minute. I had worst-case scenario visions of being unable to move (or hear) due to gear everywhere, so had to play it safe. If nothing else, we have a responsibility to not have the fire exits blocked up with Ampegs and Foderas! :-D Looking forward to it.
 4. Ohh, I don't think I've seen one of these before - lovely bass
 5.
I was hoping there would be a couple of late 70's P basses to compare mine to, as It's the only one I've ever played! (I've owned mine for 35 years)
If that's the case, I'll bring mine and just make sure it doesn't get in the way. It's a VERY typical example - weighs a ton, neck pocket gap, sounds great :-)
 6. When Simon first PMed me about organising this bass bash, he said "build it and they will come" and he was right! We're both bowled over by the positive uptake; it's great that so many are up for it. The only concern now is that we are running out of space for gear! Because this is a bit of a pilot bash, we went for a medium sized venue, but looking at the number of rigs and basses on the list, any more and it might be a squeeze. The room is booked and paid for, so changing venue is not an option. We would like to put forward the following: Amps/combos: We draw the line at nine - We understand that many want to show off their gear, and compare/try out different makes. For those who are bringing a rig just as something to play through, it would be great if you can do it through other rigs in the room. I will bring my GlockenRig (Glockenklang Soul head and Barefaced Super Twin cab, a very transparent rig) which you are welcome to use as a 'house rig', and I'm sure others will not mind you plugging into their rigs too. Basses: These are easier to stash away when not in use, but we would like to encourage a maximum of two basses each. It's more of a request than an iron rule, but we don't want to be tripping up over expensive basses! I've noticed that someone else is bringing a late 70s P, so I won't bother bringing mine. People: The more the merrier (as long as we don't have 50 basses in the room at the same time!) Although we can only have the gear in one room, we can also make use of the large atrium, small kitchen, and the car park (if the weather is nice) Thanks folks
 7.
Have my recently resurrected BB450:
Really glad to see that this has had a new lease of life! It sat in my workshop in pieces gathering dust for the best part of a year.
 8. Well, you're a lot more gaseous than me when it comes to basses (four electric basses in nineteen years) but some people on BC seem to go through scores of basses, so I wouldn't worry just yet.
 9.
Well, you can easily make a perfectly fine PF500 or PF350 to cut out. Its just their internal safety system. I can make my PF350 cut out in my bedroom if I want, but I never had any problems on a gig, even with single cab, pushed really hard (red and orange leds blinking constantly). Maybe your amp IS fine?
Can you make blue smoke pour out of it any time you want? ;-)
 10. I have a couple of boxes and some padding materials spare, at my home in Nottingham if anyone wants them. One large box that could maybe fit a 1x15 cab, and one that would nicely fit rack-sized amp heads. Also some bubble packaging Collection only.
 11.
If you crank the gain to max but keep the volume relatively low with the 'master' then your not gonna get distortion.. Just use a pedal perhaps?
You should get some distortion with gain on full, regardless of where the master volume sits, as long as the signal is hot enough to overdrive the preamp valves. Cranking the master volume is where the lovely power amp valve distortion will kick in. My first thought was how hot is the signal from your passive bass? On my valve amp with gain cranked, I get minimal distortion through my passive, yet plug in the active and it can be a real monster. When I put my passive bass through a clean boost (eg Markbass Superbooster) it gets filthy.
 12.
Very happy to give "web shelter" to Basschat's photoblog, now that this site's own blog has disappeared - I've got a few other Bashes covered in my Wordpress account. But I won't be able to attend the bash, so a draft of any writeup, as well as the photos, will have to be provided by one of you guys who actually will attend Keep me posted!
Thanks Sylvia! We'll get a write up sorted Updated list: 1. Si600 - No gear, I expect to be too busy and I've nothing exotic or interesting! 2. 13.
Funny you say that, I looked at the settings I was using at the end of the night last night and my mid frequency knob was a bit higher than yours (about 10 o'clock), and the mids knob was a bit lower than yours, at around 2 o'clock... so different, but not miles away from what you were talking about! I was also boosting highs a fair amount and had the "HF Attack" switch engaged... but that's probably because the cab I used is a bit on the dark side. That's bound to change a lot when I use a combination that can reproduce the top end better. I sold my RH450 today, it's all packed up, ready to be posted in the morning... I'm a little sad, I loved that amp, despite its "quirks". But I'm happy with my new amp With my RH450, the amp bag went too, so now I need one for the Shuttle. Any recommendations? It's so small that I'm thinking a good laptop case would probably work well... but I bet there are better options out there. Those knobs protrude significantly, the amp needs a decent case that protects them.
http://www.ipswichpa.co.uk/gator-g-mix-b-1212-mixer-carry-case-bag-12-x-1175-1049-p.asp This one is the perfect size, and offers more protection than the thin Genz case (I've had both) The Protec small mixer bag 1212 is best in terms of protection, but chunkier, and difficult to find now (possibly discontinued?)
 14.
Thanks Chris, that doesn't sound too bad, does it take account of the inset handle and the quite thick walls?
Erm...no. Well done, you've passed the test ;-)
 15.
I'm not sure how to work out litres but the outside of my cab measures 46 x 46 x 36cm
That's just over 76 litres :-) I find the thread derailment really informative, thanks Stevie/Lawrence
 16.
. Oh, I liked Hair of the Dog a lot, is Discreet still in them?
I think it's 'Hour of the Dog' If I remember correctly, they've done a Sugababes and replaced most of the personnel yet kept the name. Discreet is Keisha in this scenario. Hope that clears it up for you :-D
 17. Here's a few more: TKS http://www.tks.se Krampera http://www.krampera.co.uk HH http://www.hhelectronics.com/products/bass-combos Earcandy* http://earcandycabs.com/bass-speaker-cabs/ EAD http://www.extendedaudiodesign.co.uk *I had one, great cab, but they had a bad rep for taking money and not delivering.
 18.
Those amongst us are wolves. I'm ashamed to say I can't recall the bassist/basschatter's name but I loves me a bit of post rock and this band are up there with the best of them.....
It's Jigster I went to see them when they played Nottingham, but got held up and arrived as they were packing up :-(
 19. Some '80s-era Fatback Band http://youtu.be/hrzX2X0Pvr0 Southside Movement A band I was in covered this, lots of fun http://youtu.be/GFoIHGquK94
 20.
Ooooooh ooooh ooooh! I likey!
Cheers Myke :-)
 21.
I won't necessarily just be providing coffee/tea/milk/biccies, if there's anything I have stashed away that no one else is bringing and might be of use then I'll see what I can do closer to the date but I have a fairly small collection and most things will be already covered. If it hasn't been sold by then maybe the active USA precision deluxe, don't see a vast number of those around? Also in other larger bass gatherings some folks have brought along gear that they wanted to sell, I assume this is still allowed irrespective of the new BC sales [s] tax[/s] policy? if its only a small number then chances are slim of actually offloading anything but don't see an issue with people pitching up with unwanted pedals and other bits? Maybe someone can bring along a PAT tester and we can get all our gear done for a year?
Hi Kev, We can chat nearer the time, and between us we'll make sure we have everything we need. I see no problem with bringing stuff for sale, but will check with the BC Skippers.
