1. Are people using the cable with the istrobosoft? Where can you get it?
2.
I've just measured the dimensions of a currently unused cupboard in our new house and I think a Super Compact would just fit inside. I wonder if I can use the out of sight argument to sell the idea to the wife of upgrading my Gen 1 Compact to a shiny new Super version.........
If it's out of sight, she'll never know ... ;-)
3.
Unfortunately the Eve Probass has been returned to the luthier.
Must be a huge disappointment. What happened?
4.
You must be talking about TC. They are the only heads I know of which run to a recommended max of 2.7, which is an odd number because most amps will be 4 ohm or 2 ohm. TC say they are designed to run 3 8 ohm cabs. Maybe they can run at 2 ohm but TC think it's marginal. You could try it at low volume but high volume, where the excessive heat is generated, might cause the amp to go into Protect mode .Read the manual. There is info about the Protect mode.
Cheers, actually I'm looking at the Glockenklang Heart Rock II, and you're right that the 2.7 is designed for 3x8ohm cabs. I suppose if I couldn't crank it, there wouldn't be much point. I'd be better sticking with the EBS HD350 with its 2ohms. It's not like I'll be lacking in volume :-D
5. I'm not sure how much it would need to be cranked, tbh, being a 1000w amp into a 6x10 and a 2x12. It would be doing it just because I can! I knew in my heart that it would not be a sensible thing to do :-D
6. Excellent. Looking forward to hearing about the cranked-up rehearsal
7. If I had a solid state head which delivered full power at 2.7 ohms, would I break it if I connected it to two 4ohm cabs? I know that the 2.7 is to allow 3x8ohm cabs, but just wondering about the possibilities. I'm hoping that the answer is 'don't do it' for the sake of my bank account ;-)
8.
If they've got any sense, they'll just rebadge 'em. They'll be on to a winner.
Definitely. If it isn't broken, don't fix it
9. Why would anyone hire a Peavey Firebass 700, can't you pick them up for less than £150?
10. I've used a Laney Richter 410 a fair few times in our rehearsal studios. The sound isn't bad at all, but as Mr 7755 says above, go easy!
11. Sag. When a valve amp is pushed hard at high volume, it draws lots of current, which the power circuit can't deliver quickly enough. This creates a small amount of compression at the start of the note, which then blossoms into the full note in a very pleasing manner. For me, it's not the case that one is better than the other, more that each has strengths and weaknesses. I have one clean SS rig (well, I will when the cab arrives), and one all-valve rig.
12. Superb! Are you playing through the BFM cabs?
13. It might not be for sale for much longer. It has just occurred to me that I can use the 2ohm output to play through the Super Twin and '69er AT THE SAME TIME! A six-foot rig of destruction, just because I can (insert that deranged smilie here, although I can't cos I'm on an ipad) If I play it at the Midlands bass bash, you should be able to hear it from where you are in Newcastle upon Tyne ;-D
14. 1964? I only count four. Four would do me just fine though.
15.
Don't suppose my Epifani UL410 would interest you in some sort of a trade ?
Sorry, I have all the cab I need already
16. A couple of sharks circling, but none have gone in for the kill.......
17. I've seen Dick Venom several times and they put on a superb show. Another favourite is Patient Zero (shep/pantherairsoft) whose 'Scarecrow Tactics' EP is right up my street. Tacsi are great too
18.
The Bootle-Bumtrinket is a boat in 'My Family And Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell, and I claim my £5.
You are correct, sir; a book I read for the first time recently. Now, just to confuse everyone, I'm going to change my member title again.
19.
What head have you got? I might have to go down the barefaced route to be honest...
I have an obscure 100w valve head. If you need any info on the '69er, feel free to ask here or on PM
20. Practicing at home? No effects, in fact not even an amp!
21. Lee bought my Shuttle 9.2. Payment was instant and communication was great. We had massive issues with City Link not picking up the amp, and poor Lee was stuck without money or amp for over a week! He was hugely patient and understanding.
22. I'd imagine that if it were raining or snowing, then all you would see is cloud! My guess is that initial satellite images would have had lots of annoying cloud, but over time with more pictures taken, they add uncloudy images when they get them. Eventually, the whole of Google Earth will be cloud free.
23. Yeah, I've got a '69er too and they are superb, especially with a valve head.
24. Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express and Chemical Brothers' Surrender.
25.
[sub]Check out my Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 4x10+15 in the for sale section.[/sub]
I've seen that. Possibly the most masculine cab I've ever seen!
