1.
Anyway this is splitting hairs. I don't think it's very good but my point is do we understand good and bad in Chinese music and Iranian Music? So why should be understand what's good in Hip Hop? In the "projects" they might think this is great
I find this viewpoint really, really bizarre. Hip hop is not some niche genre only marketed towards 'black America'. It may have started out as such in the 70s, but by the mid-late 90's, it was the largest-selling genre, certainly in the States, and possibly the world. Its influence has continued to pervade most popular music since. But this song is sh*t.
2.
After dangling a carrot in front of David at SGD he has actually shipped a package to me! So who knows I might get my pickups after all. Just had to apply the right pressure and incentive.
Wow, well played. Unexpected yet welcome news.
3.
"Why The Fee?"
Nice
4.
Because **** ****** **** ***** ham ***** ******** *** eggs ******* ****** John Noakes
Fair enough. Cheers
5. How come the implied swear word in the thread title is allowed, yet Nigel's similar one was changed by mods?
6.
I've got the Orange Terror Bass 500 and am really pleased with it. Loads of volume and rarely get the volume past 2 or 3 without complaints from other band members or the sound guy, when partnered with two SP212 cabs. It's quite an old school tone which I like but isn't for everyone. The only criticism I have is over the DI. It's VERY hot and unbuffered, so increasing the gain increases the DI level. Not an issue if you mic the cab, or run a DI pre-amp but something to be aware of and not ideal if you use the amp for overdrive and run through the desk.
This should sort you out http://www.studiospares.com/mic-accessories/pro-40db-inline-attenuator/invt/568600
7.
IIRC jon Shuker built a pair of 6-string 4003-shaped basses for someone on here a few years ago
8. Do you mean the existing speaker in the combo is 4ohms? Does the amp in the combo go down to 2ohms? If not, you may struggle
9. Pretty sure any chips in the BF finish can be neatly touched up with some more Tuffcab paint
10. I think Mr Foxen may be your man
11. It allows string bending and vibrato effects. With the bendwell the neck scale is 32"; without the bendwell the scale is 34"
12.
The Genz STL 6 can sound thin because they attenuated the low end for some reason! The STL 6.2 and the other GB amps have good bass response. The Streamliners apparently have a huge low end.
As I understand it, all GB lightweight heads have a high pass filter built in, but the cutoff point was lowered in later models. The Shuttle 6.2/9.2 and Streamliners have a cutoff point of 30Hz. I can vouch for the Streamliner having a huge new end, and my newly-acquired Shuttle 9.2 should be just as deep (first test tomorrow night)
13.
It may not be solid orange (the finish is actually called Autumn Redburst, with a beautiful sparkle that looks even better in real life) but the center bit is definitely orange! It used to have a tortoise pickguard but I changed it to a black one. Still keep the original one around in case I ever change my mind, but I think the black one looks better on there. Fantastic instrument, rocksolid, sounds great, and no weak G string issues whatsoever.
Gorgeous, a very subtle burst and funky sparkle
14. Yeah, my 100 watter is loud enough for the majority of gigs I've done, and not too heavy.
15. Help your sale out by providing the following info: How old is it? Where are you based? Are you willing to courier? If so, is it included in the price? Are you considering trades? :-)
16.
Even though the G2 speakon and screws aren't flush - they only protrude a little and are as solid as the rest of the rugged cab.
Yeah, when I got my BF I was a bit dubious, but it has never been an issue.
17. You really need a DHA VT1 EQ, trouble is they are a bit pricey. If only you could get a bargain one somewhere........
18. Are the speakons recessed on the G3?
19. Funnily enough, I've been playing a bit of air bass this evening. A Hip Hop version of Chameleon by Urbanator: http://youtu.be/X0vOCIWlRus
20. It looks lovely as it is, but black would be even better
21. I'd expect that from a late '70s Fender (like mine, which has 0.8mm gap on one side*) but surprised to hear about it on a newer model. Personally, it doesn't bother me as the joint is solid and the bass sounds great. If I ever sold it though, it could be an issue to potential buyers. *I haven't had the feeler gauges out, it's just that it holds a 0.8mm plectrum perfectly.
22. The new thread title is offensive in that it lacks the appropriate passion and enthusiasm. ;-)
23. This may seem like a silly question, but I don't suppose, by any chance, that the bass' body is made of cheese? That would explain it.
24. I like that a lot. My friend was offering a spare ticket to see them in Kentish Town last week and I didn't bother - shame
25.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jfcZHu6_GQ&feature=youtu.be
Mate, that sounds sublime. I love the way the pickup movement is controlled by a knob
