1. I reckon it'll look pretty cool. The scratchplate sounds unusual, do you have a link?
2.
I have just had a package delivered that took the longest of any express parcel y
Do you assign a letter to all your parcels ;-)
3. Yes, the gain boost button simply increases the signal to the pre and therefore drives the pre valve more. A boost from a pedal should do the same thing. The Markbass Superbooster might be ideal Edit, good point above, be prepared for major volume increase
4.
Taste skipped 2 generations?
Each to their own and all that Wayne....
5. Got mine today at last! Ordered 1st Aug, arrived today
6. It arrived today, just in case anyone was losing sleep over this :-D it took just under a month. Thanks for the advice all
7. That link doesn't work for me, but I love the style of illustration
8. Very nice. How close a fit is the neck pocket? Also, was it originally natural?
9.
give 'em a rest for a day or so, then listen to them in a slightly different state of consciousness (drunk or similar ..). fresh perspective, etc.

You're going with your heart and that's a good thing. Like phil says, give it a week and listen to other music. Go back to them when you start feeling curious about hearing them again, don't force it, you wouldn't with any other music you listen to. Personally speaking, I can't wait to hear them because I really like your band. If you want an unbiased opinion chuck one over to me and I'll gladly tell you my feelings mate.
Cheers chaps. Yeah, I should have taken more breaks from listening. Nigel, thanks for the offer to give an objective view. We're at the stage now where we are pretty happy, and besides, we've pretty much used up all of the studio engineer/producer's goodwill! We're going to get it mastered as it stands now, but will definitely be keeping the stems for future mixes/remixes, so constructive criticism of these mastered versions will be welcome! I'm not sure if these are the versions that the band will officially be sending out into the world, but I don't see any harm in posting on BC for an informal listen and feedback. Nigel, I'll let you know when the links are up. Cheers Chris
10. Looking at the Google images, it looks like most are tangentally (flat) sawn I would imagine that if Fender were to go to that extra trouble and expense of using all quarter sawn necks, they would advertise the fact.
11. For those unfamiliar with Häussel pickups, I have a set on my Wood and Tronics bass and they are absolutely top notch. They sound lovely.
12. Not mine, unfortunately, but needs to be in this thread! Unable to view that other thread for some reason
13. My band have recorded three more songs, and I've been listening to the various mixes, constantly. Trying to come up with criticisms and ideas for production. TBH I'm getting a bit sick of them, and they're not even mastered yet!
14. Edit: made a joke but unsure whether it's in poor taste. Deleted in caution
15. Me too - the title made me think that the indestructible one was bereft of life
16.
Thanks for taking the trouble to find those, a great help :-)
No worries. Hopefully you can use the pics to help confirm the authenticity of this one :-)
17. Here are some example from BC sales. Of course it's possible that the asking prices were haggled down a bit: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/207600-1971-fender-precision-bass-sold/page__p__2077778__hl__71%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry2077778 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/191980-fsft-fender-197071-precision-bass-fretless-l2k/page__p__1898441__hl__71%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry1898441 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220728-sold-1971-blond-fender-precision-owned-by-willie-weeks/page__hl__71+precision__fromsearch__1
18. I'd say between £1800 and £2200 depending on condition (and how much you like how it plays/feels)
19. I popped a NOS Mullard ECC81 in mine, I think it sweetened the tone up a bit.
20. From his website: "My main Bass Guitar is my LG3006 built for me by Keith Roscoe and crew at ROSCOE GUITARS. I also play the fine basses made by Mike Tobias at MTD BASS GUITARS. In my stable of basses are bass guitars from Yamaha International, Pat Wilkins Basses, Innerwood Basses, Wyn Basses, and Mayonnes Basses."
21. I understand that they are not quite as easy to fit as a standard wooden neck, as the heels are actually hollow with very thin walls
22. Plywood bodies tend to have a more 'layered' sound, kind of a 'multi-tiered' tone with alternating timbre directions ;-)
