1.
I don't want to speak too soon or be alarmist, but Global Priority is the express airmail service , and if the item was dispatched on or around the notification date then it should be with you by now , or at least well on its' way . Global Priority items are supposed to get priority preference both in the U.S.A and on arrival in the U.K .
I've just checked, and progress!! As of half an hour ago, it has made it to New Orleans. Texas to Louisiana in ten days. I've driven from Houston to New Orleans, and if I remember correctly, it took about six hours. Ah well, I'm relieved to see that it exists, and has moved. Not much I can do about the time it takes I suppose.
2.
Hi Roland, I ship stuff regulaly USPS to the U.K, so maybe I can help . A lot depends on what service the sender has signed up for . I always use Priority Mail Express International , but I am shipping fairly large high value items that I don't want hanging about . A small package sent as cheaply as possible might go via a slower service . Does it say on the notification which service the package is coming via? USPS is by far the cheapest way to ship U.S to U.K that I have ever found and I have been at this game a long time , so if the seller in the States has been too tight to fork out a little more for air freight on a small item then that is regrettable because the airmail prices are so cheap that it doesn't seem worth even considering the alternative. . In every instance using the Express service , I get the electronic notification you mention from the person shipping ( it's probably generated when they notify USPS that they want to ship an item and arrange collection ) , and then usually two to three days later the next notification I get is that the item is ready for international despatch . The next notification after that is usually 48-72 hours later that the item is in the U.K and then entering into Customs . All in all , one way or another , it almost always takes exactly ten days from the initial electronic notification to the item arriving at its' final destination in the U.K . There can be slight variation in that timescale depending on whereabouts in the U.S.A the item originates, but from most major urban centres, about ten to twelve days, though .
Thanks Dingus and everyone else., The service, ironically, is called Global Priority, and the parcel is coming from Texas
3. EA stuff is superbly made and very transparent. This on is £350 if you can stretch to that (or haggle) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220570-euphonic-audio-nl-210-2x10-horn-bass-cab/page__hl__ea__fromsearch__1
4. Could the tutor not lend you a bass for the lesson? Or maybe a BCer in the area?
5. Black/white/black would be lovely Lovely bass
6. I've had an item sent from the States on the 17th October. The tracking number, when entered into the USPS site, comes up with the following: Date & Time: October 19, 2013 Status of Item: Electronic Shipping Info Received Location: Their elaboration of this status is as follows: "Electronic Shipping Info Received: The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on October 19, 2013 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if/when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later." So it reads to me like they haven't even received the physical item! The sender assures me it has been sent. Anyone know about this system, or how long these things usually take?
7.
648 views and 16 votes....
Maybe the same 16 people coming back again and again? :-) I pop back from time to time to see how the swingometer is doing
8.
It's too free-form and avant-garde for me.
I would suggest, sir, that you give Sun Ra or Global Unity Orchestra a miss! Or possibly check them out to experience just how free-form and avant-garde music can get ;-)
9. Crikey! We just scribble set lists down (usually on a napkin) at the last minute.
10. The Specials' finest has a new ska project on the go, for anyone interested. Uptown Ska Collective http://marcoonthebas...ith-horace.html https://www.facebook.com/UptownSkaCollective?hc_location=stream
11. We could do with a keyboard player like that :-D Music sounds great - I'd wager that the songwriter is a fan of The Cult. Like the third one especially, great bassline too
12. Not convinced, but pass my compliments on to whoever designed your website - looks great
13. Of all of the strings I've tried over the years, there are only two types that came straight off my bass again: Rotosound Solo pressure wounds - bought on the grounds that they are supposed to be smooth yet bright, but they were just as lumpy as rounds Elites Rounds - totally uninspiring Rotosound Swing were ok enough to stay on the bass, but not enough to buy another set once spent
14. I really like that, but more to the tune of £150. £529 is outrageous
15. Vocals: Good, in a Stevie Wonder/radio-friendly pop kind of way Singer's Face: Offputting, in a 'squeezing-out-a-poo' kind of way Keys: Way too '80s sounding Bass: Please ease off on the tinny slap. The fingerstyle is really enjoyable. Drummer: Excellent My favourite part is the instrumental break at around 2:00
16. Sidekick abuse is no laughing matter
17.
Things have changed.
I see the change - your table is now maple instead of oak ;-) Excellent news. I shall be contacting you as soon as I know the lengths I need :-)
18. Purple? Nowt wrong with purple. My first car was purple. A history full of Roman Emperors, kings and queens, bishops and hippies can't be wrong. I don't know whether Tiberius would be the type to rock out to Suck My Kiss, but if he did, it would be on one of these.
19.
cool to hear these thoughts. but im wondering if you actually watched the vid.? very confusing
I think that the confusion is from the way the OP is presented - the title asks what we think of DJs in general, and then in the OP you want an opininion on that particular DJ. Anyway, on the subject of DJ Craze, I would put it in the same category as beat boxing - very skilful, and sounds fantastic in short bursts of with the right accompaniment, however an extended long set is a bit much for me.Terminator X was an integral part of Public Enemy (before he went off to become an ostrich farmer) but I don't think I'd enjoy a solo set of his scratch DJing. On the subject of DJs in general (I'm talking about normal 'play'n'mix' type rather than scratch type) - a good DJ has a huge amount of skill, from selecting the correct tunes in the correct order by reading the room, to seamlessly blending them so that people don't come to a standstill, and slowly building atmosphere over the night. Our band have a DJ that we take with us on gigs whenever possible (sadly not that often) and the atmosphere he creates is well worth the extra split in money.
20. Well done again everyone. All great, but one of them in particular really grabs me and thrusts me into the picture. Vote awarded accordingly
21. Well done and best of luck with it all
22. I had a watch and a listen last night. Really great song and a fun video. I hope your parents appreciate the sacrifice!
23.
I thought he now used smaller connectors? I think there is a thread about it on here but I could be wrong
I just went off info on the website:
