1. Purple? Nowt wrong with purple. My first car was purple. A history full of Roman Emperors, kings and queens, bishops and hippies can't be wrong. I don't know whether Tiberius would be the type to rock out to Suck My Kiss, but if he did, it would be on one of these.
2.
cool to hear these thoughts. but im wondering if you actually watched the vid.? very confusing
I think that the confusion is from the way the OP is presented - the title asks what we think of DJs in general, and then in the OP you want an opininion on that particular DJ. Anyway, on the subject of DJ Craze, I would put it in the same category as beat boxing - very skilful, and sounds fantastic in short bursts of with the right accompaniment, however an extended long set is a bit much for me.Terminator X was an integral part of Public Enemy (before he went off to become an ostrich farmer) but I don't think I'd enjoy a solo set of his scratch DJing. On the subject of DJs in general (I'm talking about normal 'play'n'mix' type rather than scratch type) - a good DJ has a huge amount of skill, from selecting the correct tunes in the correct order by reading the room, to seamlessly blending them so that people don't come to a standstill, and slowly building atmosphere over the night. Our band have a DJ that we take with us on gigs whenever possible (sadly not that often) and the atmosphere he creates is well worth the extra split in money.
3. Well done again everyone. All great, but one of them in particular really grabs me and thrusts me into the picture. Vote awarded accordingly
4. Well done and best of luck with it all
5. I had a watch and a listen last night. Really great song and a fun video. I hope your parents appreciate the sacrifice!
6.
I thought he now used smaller connectors? I think there is a thread about it on here but I could be wrong
I just went off info on the website:
7.
The only problem with OBBM is that he uses full size connectors for his patch leads, which can take up a lot of space on your pedalboard (assuming that you actually want the cables for a pedalboard).
Exactly the issue I've had this week. I wanted to go OBBM, but they're too chunky. I ended up ordering these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HosaTech-IRG-100-5-Profile-Right-Guitar/dp/B000068O3Y/ref=sr_1_8?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1382600449&sr=1-8&keywords=Patch+cable
8.
But there's only one place in the world that they're made. Does that mean they should move to the middle of nowhere to reduce pricing? Or maybe outsource to China? I don't think you can compare a mass market product that's available in multi-locations with corresponding multiple price points to a custom built bass guitar that's only available from one place. Maybe we should be trying to work out what is over-priced relative to geographical location costs and overheads. Gut feel is it's probably the bottom end of the market where the greatest over-pricing is happening on mass produced, machine made, instruments and not the top where the man hours per bass are huge because of the labour intensive construction and attention to detail that's involved
Not saying that they were adding this cost for no good reason, just clarifying the previous point :-) I wonder what would happen if the entire Fodera operation had started up in, say Arsend, Kansas, instead of NY. They may have had difficulty getting quality craftspeople out there. Also, their NY workshop seems to be a fine location for people to drop in and see what's going on/try stuff out. Would Kansas Fodera still have (the marketing gold that is) paying endorsers like AJ, MG, VW etc?
9.
For some reason - preview is disabled, download only ?
Not sure why, but if you press 'download' it just plays, without downloading
10. I think the point was that a chunk of your money is going towards expensive NY rent and wages.
11.
Played a bit with a friend from Texas last night...
Not too surprised at that. Probably just wanted to play "I don't want a lover" or "Say what you want" ;-)
12. Sounds great, thanks for your ideas and work so far
13. The band obviously got the 'wear a grey T Shirt and a hat' memo. I'm peering suspiciously at the camera.
14.
212 = 2x15
Surely not :-D
15. Ritter R8 5string
16. The Mutron III has an input gain control too
17. All advance tickets for tonight's gig are sold out, leaving not so many on the door. Get down early to guarantee entry. Plus, we're on stage at 8.45!
18.
Haven't heard that in a while! That was my take on Carol Kaye who's on the original Lalo Schiffrin version. We actually recorded it as a performance in the studio and it was quite a blow!
Hey - you must be Gary Crockett - you, sir are a superb player. I went through a big JTQ phase circa 1994 and saw you several times. You may not remember, but I think I scared the sh*t out of you once..... I was very drunk at a JTQ gig at Leicester DeMontford, and thoroughly enjoying the gig. I was amazed how a bass player who looked so young could be so damned good. Afterwards, I was lingering at the stage when a chap asked me if I was Security (being a heavily built 6foot, shaved head and pierced nose). I said no, so he suggested we go backstage. We entered the JTQ dressing room and I made a drunken beeline for you to enquire your age to satisfy my curoisity. The sight of an intimidating thug approaching and asking bluntly how old you were, you could be forgiven for thinking that a bouncer was about to throw out. You looked scared shitless, but eventually politely answered my questions. Sorry about that, and thanks for the can of Stella and the orange.
19. Both gig bag and workshop are well kitted out with Jaffa Tape now, thanks Gav. Good communications and very nice chap
20. Yeah, the tuners lack sophistication somewhat. What's that kind of gauze bit below the bridge?
21.
Yay! With any luck mines will be shortly then since it was just after you.
He told me he hasn't started building yours yet.... ;-)
22. ... and as if by magic, it has been dispatched with a tracking number, the very day I asked for the refund! I got another apology and a small refund.
23. Well, after no response to my last email, I feel I have no choice but to cancel the order. I've asked for a full refund. It's especially annoying as I had bought a new power supply (one spot) and patch leads (OBBM) based on this promise of delivery. :-(
24. I must admit, I've enjoyed what I've heard of The Strypes, especially the live album. Despite their pre-pubescent faces and contrived image, I feel that their shambolic loose-but-tight performances have a certain degree of authenticity about them.
25.
They are considering custom colours I believe
