1. Bit heavier than normal today - Sons of Otis. Very enjoyable though
 2. Not played the vid, but I think I recognise the bass player. Does he play with Keith Emmerson? Edit, got home and watched the vid now. The name on the drums gives it away somewhat. Close but no cigar
 3.
Hey guys, This is a slight continuation of the custom builders thread. I've got some items I'm waiting on ($600+) - Ordered at the start of Aug (1st week), got an email back from the builder saying there would be about a 5 week wait. No worries I can live with that. I've got some holidays and other things to deal with, so no rush at that point. Fast forward a week after the 5 week mark - i email and ask if there is an ETA, not pushing; simply looking for an update. I'm told there was a hold up and they will be shipped this week or next (now at Sept 17th). Awesome - soon then. Fast forward again to 2nd October - still not sign of tracking number, so I mail once again. Get told They have no shipped yet, but should be shipped in the next few days. Now here we are at the 10th - 8 days after I was told it would be shipped in the next few days. I've used this builder before, and was excellent then. But now I've waited for well over the proposed 5 week build time, and I'm just tired. Everytime i mail, I'm told that it will be shipped that week etc. Am I within my grounds to ask for a refund? I think 10 weeks (almost) is insane. Even more annoying is the fact that I'll still need to wait for the units to arrive from the states!
I know who you are on about, and get to the back of the queue, I ordered mine before you :-D Mine was ordered on 1st Aug with a 3-4 week promised timeframe. He has been replying to emails : 2/9 - "Sorry, it will be shipped quite soon" 17/9 - "Sorry, shipping today" 3/10 - lots of apologies, an offer of a refund or shipping in the next week. I went for the latter. Still waiting......
 4. I found a retro rocket that I thought would go nicely with the retro styling. I know it's a bit kitsch, but I love it: I've even recorded with it already. Note the crazy settings! Lots of master vol, full bass, mid and treble, and gain to the required volume. This gets a superb clean full sound on the W&T Ergon bass
 5.
Some people miss the stud they thought they had located (or more likely didn't bother locating in the first place) Not everyone's handy like you.
Some people do not know what a stud wall is, and have no idea that they even need to try to locate a stud. A setup, even one just requiring neck and bridge tweaking, is only simple if you understand how the neck, vibrating strings and bridge all work together. You (OP) understand that, great. Others may not get it, and they shouldn't be made to feel stupid because they don't get it. There's fretbuzz. Where on the fretboard is the buzz coming from? Is it due to the neck being too straight, or too bowed? Or the neck might be fine and it's just the bridge that needs altering. These things take practice. I don't think it's as easy as you make out. I'd agree that intonation adjustment is a much simpler and more clear cut concept. However, if they don't get it, that's fine. They may have strengths in other areas; things which come naturally to them, but you would struggle to get to grips with.
 6.
Is this right? I never knew that. So I can run my MB800 without speakers?
Here's a TB thread on the very subject: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/does-gallien-krueger-mb800-need-speaker-load-operate-992355/
 7.
The bassist from Men Imitating Machines uses midi bass. I read Jarman's interview on Shep's blog & he was saying that he likes the ability to assign different sounds to each string. He's also looking at the IR Basses too. They look very promising.
Yeah, he was playing an Industrial Radio bass when I saw them recently, it sounded superb. There is one for sale on the BC marketplace at the moment
 8. Rosewood is more dense than maple. Rosewood averages 55 lb/ft3, whereas maple averages 44 lb/ft3. That would suggest that rosewood boards are brighter, but there are so many variables
 9.
.....waterproof.....
At a gig in January, we sound checked in the afternoon, then I put my bass back in its Protec case and left it leaning in a corner of the back storage/dressing room while we went out for something to eat. There was lots of snow about, but this evening it was raining. Obviously this creates water on the ground in itself, but it also melted the snow at a mighty rate. I got back to the room to find the case standing in about an inch of water! Thankfully, the inside of the case and bass were totally dry. For those gigging in Nottingham: if you are gigging at The Maze, don't leave your gear anywhere near the floor of that back room!
 10.
I have recently bought a streamliner and love it. Would say it cuts through perfectly well and no boom, if you cut the bass eq. Just a twiddle of the knob. I would say it has come through as warm and punchy ....... It is super versatile too.
This pretty much sums up my experience with the Streamliner
 11.
BWAAAHHHHAAAA! Fooled ya! ....
:-D nice one That is a fine looking amp, especially the gubbins. Hope it gets sorted for you soon with a minimum of effort and expense
 12.
Yeah, I've been reading about the Streamline today, looks interesting.
I'd advise trying before buying, as it's not for everyone. If you want the mids to come through, you'll need to cut the bass and treble a bit more than with other more 'balanced' amps. Some describe the sound as 'deep and full' and others call it 'boomy and mushy' so you'd really need to hear it for yourself to decide. Another option is the Orange terror bass; a lot of people seem to like these. Personally, I really disliked that when I played through it. Again, very subjective.
 13. If you hated the Shuttle, maybe the Streamliner would be more your bag.
 14. We arrived just as you were packing down! Sorry. Nordic Giants were great though :-)
 15. Got my strings today! My preferred gauge and everything. Thanks Tac, and thanks Rocco!
 16. Where are you based? If you're near me, you can compare the Mono m80 and the Protec Contego for yourself.
 17.
The point is, they are not impossible to find as someone has one for sale, meaning it is not impossible as there is one for sale at this very moment. Maybe very difficult to find, but not impossible.
It's quite a common expression employing hyperbole. I don't think anyone actually thinks that they are impossible to find.
Try and find one then "Timothy"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-PIckHrZ0o
 18. The front looks ok in a kind of Jack Bruce Warwick kind of way. I can honsstly say that the back is the ugliest back of a bass that I have ever seen. It makes me cringe, especially the bulge where the body meets the neck.
 19. Not sure if this is your target demographic, but my five year old daughter LOVES Boundary Lines, and pretty much knows all the words. She also loves MIM's 3rd Thunder, and is adamant that it is performed by Chewbacca (bass), R2D2 (harmonies) and Princess Leah (Vox)
 20. When I watched Men Imitating Machines I'm pretty sure the bass player was using one of these. Great looking and amazing sounds. Good luck with the sale
