1. People knock them on here saying that they are not as good as their heavier uncles, but then I just remember how many compliments I get about my tone of my Streamliner. The lightweight is just a bonus. I still love all valve though
2. We did a funk gig in York years ago to raise money for your recovery from serious illness. In fact, the monthly funk night was called Bump City. We didn't raise much, but I hopefully it was enough for a hospital room for another night and maybe some grapes and Lucozade with the change.
3. I think it's a flame maple veneered scratch plate with a burst finish, ie black paint sprayed around the border, a bit like the Fender Antigua finish
4. Ooohhh, that's going to be lovely. Like JTUK says about sealed 6x10s, just because it's sealed, doesn't mean it lacks low end. It's deep, punchy and even. The 69er is pretty shallow front to back - will there be much of an overhang?
5. Shuttle 6.0 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215926-genz-benz-shuttle-60-l280/ Then keep an eye for a used cab on the market place, there's a Schroder 1212 for sale for example, a bit over budget but that would be a loud light and clear rig. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/211280-schroeder-1212l-speaker-cab/
6. I bought the ACS custom jobs with 15db filters. Our band is actually quite quiet, so I don't use them while playing. I always have them in while watching other bands though. Also, the filters pop out and my ER4 headphones pop in, and the sound quality is extraordinary.
7. I drove past that this evening and wandered what it was. Any good? What band are you in?
8. We had a great gig tonight at the Nottingham Contemporary, the bar/cafe attached to Nottingham's excellent modern art gallery. It was just us doing two 40 minute sets and a reggae DJ. Some of the main benefits of playing here are: - spacious stage with separate drum riser - good PA with a good sound guy - they have a huge trolley and service lift meaning all the gear can easily be wheeled straight to the stage in one trip - decent meal and a crate of ice cold San Miguel - Decent money (for an originals band) We were playing on home turf and, compared to last night's gig in Camden, it really showed. A really good turnout, and they were all up for it, with everyone dancing towards the end.
9.
Come on Nigel stop sitting on the fence...
Hah, I actually thought it was quite balanced, in a vitriolic kind of way. I've pondered on this some more, and these would make it good for me: - Hidden tuners, then make the arse less lumpy and more jazzy - B/W/B scratchplate - 5 Strings - Possibly maple fretboard, but I'd need to see that in the flesh
10. Cheers JM. We have a couple of London-based management companies keen to talk to us, so may well have more gigs down that way in the future.
11. That looks like such a cool venue. I saw them at Brixton Academy earlier in the year, and what a great show, such lovely soundscapes
12. No worries Nigel and thanks for asking. It was pretty good thanks, considering we were on at 8.15 during the football! Not too many people watching, but those present were very appreciative with several up dancing. The other bands were a real mixed bag, from LA GnR style rock, to poppy reggae. All nice people. We have 2 x 45 minute sets of original material to look forward to tonight. Should be fun :-)
13. Lots of solid state HH and Carlsboro around too.
14. Perfect juxtaposition of old and modern, or misguided mess? Strangely enough, I wouldn't mind this, but would like to see a more elegant tuner system hidden at the back, and maybe a rectangular pickup rather than split
15. Next one at the Nottingham Contemporary. If you want to hear the Barefaced '69er in full force, here's the place :-)
16.
That's a sketch-up of a pre-production model, we use it to check all the panel & brace dimensions are correct before cutting the first example. The final version then has a little more material taken out where it isn't doing anything useful. That large cab weighed about 20lbs empty - an 18mm baltic birch cab that size with no bracing would weigh about 50lbs.
17. Do they do fingerprint recognition ;-)
18. Haha, my dad still calls the stereo the "radiogram"
19.
they do have the classic range Roland. http://www.moon-guitar.co.jp/jb4_cl.html
Ah, nice, I was checking out the homepage. I like the pink one,
20. This is probably hersey, but they need scratch plates IMO
21. Bumping the Dublin Castle gig tonight
22. The black/maple one is gorgeous. I love the slightly offset body.
23. "Don't push me, cos I'm close to the edge I'm trying not to lose my head, a-ha-ha ha ha"
24. Haha, yes the Thumb SC seems to be a really lazy design. Here is something beautiful IMO...
