1.
they do have the classic range Roland. http://www.moon-guitar.co.jp/jb4_cl.html
Ah, nice, I was checking out the homepage. I like the pink one,
2. This is probably hersey, but they need scratch plates IMO
3. Bumping the Dublin Castle gig tonight
4. The black/maple one is gorgeous. I love the slightly offset body.
5. "Don't push me, cos I'm close to the edge I'm trying not to lose my head, a-ha-ha ha ha"
6. Haha, yes the Thumb SC seems to be a really lazy design. Here is something beautiful IMO...
7. I think it's a tricky design to get right, as it's so unbalanced in form. There are some lovely ones. I agree that we're kind of conditioned to liking 'double cut' basses, and it's a difficult hump to get over ;-) I always thought its main purpose was neck stability
8. Radial Pro DI. A top quality little box
9. Pino Palladino Andy Fraser
10. Obvious question, but why should the drummer not be sorting this out? To answer your question, seek out Signage companies, as they do livery/stickers for vans in custom shapes and designs
11.
But if you are using an instrument in a gig situation, how it looks is as important as how it sounds and plays.
True, but in this context where they would be comparing all P and J clones, I doubt the audience would be able to tell the difference visually between a Celinder and a Vintage J.
12.
I had three splendid young women asking me about my Hohner Jack after a gig once. It was in Whitby though.
Those were not women, they were vampires. Sounds like you had a lucky escape Edit Oops, on same wavelength as Billy Apple :-)
13. I've never known anyone pull by rocking a headless bass ;-). * * Steinberger in a reggae context excepted
14.
I think the metal grill looks great .I've had speaker cabs with cloth grills in the past ,they look ok until something falls against them in the van .
I have the cloth, but a RoqSolid cover with a front pocket which houses a protective piece of plywood. Best of both worlds :-)
15. This quote from TB would suggest that it has a temp controlled fan "I have a new GK MB210 II and just recently played it long enough and loud enough for the fan in the amp to go on. I was surprised how noisy it was" http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/fan-noise-gk-mb210-ii-965447/
16. Why would you not need stereo for vinyl. I'm pretty sure most vinyl since the mid '60s has been in stereo. Am I missing something?
17. Sounds great, and those don't sound like dimmed highs to me! I especially like the finger style tone
18. There was a thread about the lack of Tecamp distribution in the UK. Seems like they were not interested when approached by a potential UK dealer.
19. Thread resurrection! I've just bought the roundcores for my W&T and flats for my P. these are great strings, incredibly clear with nice tension. The rounds are quite different to the cobalts they replaced, maybe more 'even' in the mids, rather than the low mid emphasis of the cobalts. Great customer service too
20. Great gig! KADE were excellent, nicely ambient with some lovely soundscapes, but a very short set :-( MiM were superb! My mate thought the bass player looked bizarre and intimidating, like a safari hunter stalking big game with a jellybean blunderbuss. I thought they were brilliant. They are the band that Daft Punk could have become, had they not opted for mediocre jarlsberg disco. Nice to meet you Shep. Mr Stein, sorry I missed you, was looking out for that mask!
21.
I think the OP was referring to everything, bass and rig. Which is why I said no. I'll welcome anyone to play through my cab anytime as sharing makes everything easier for everyone. I would ask you to bring a head though if possible, but if you couldn't then I wouldn't leave you without an amp at the gig.
Sounds fair enough. Thanks in advance ;-)
22.
If it's somebody that I know and trust then I don't mind. Otherwise, no.
Unlikely scenario, but say we had a gig at The Rescue Rooms, with us supporting you. I would probably contact your band via Facebook to ask if it's ok if we use your guitar and bass amps. Would you flat out refuse?
23. I'm pretty trusting. I'd keep an eye on them to make sure no pints on the amp etc. but generally like to encourage a friendly, sharing culture amongst the musicians' community. It would be a pain if no one shared gear. Next weekend, we have three gigs, but I only need to bring my amp to one of them. I've never had anyone ask to play my bass. I'd probably agree, but keep a VERY close eye on treatment. Not so much when playing, but when moving it around, where and how they put it down etc.
24. I love that body sketch. The scratchplate looks great
