1. I've heard that this is the case for a lot of Gretsch basses. It's a shame because they look so lovely :-(
2. The immensely talented Janelle Monae. I posted her 'Tightrope' song a while back, and here's the new one, featuring Erykah Badu http://youtube.com/watch?v=26Gjy9nIpWQ
3. Shoot a music video? Could be lots of fun, and a possible marketing tool

5. Yeah, 'upgraded' is subjective, 'modified' is used often too, which I suppose is more factual.
6.
This gentleman seems to be looking at his fretting hand. But I think he probably knows what finger goes where.
I'm not questioning the competence of hand-watchers, just saying that she seems to be doing it pretty constantly for a bass-facer, which is unusual :-)
7. It's a bit unusual; usually when people do silly bass face, it's because they are totally caught up in the song, in a world of their own. This lady is constantly looking at her fretting hand, seemingly having to concentrate on what finger goes where. Is it legal to do silly bass face when you're not totally in the moment?
8. I needed a sturdy, protective case for my Streamliner. Looking on BC, it seemed that the only two options were the Gig Skinz small mixer bag, or the Genz Benz case. The Gig Skinz one seemed to be better quality and more sturdy, but I'm not a big fan of the 'street' style graphics. Anyway, neither of them seemed to be available anywhere in the UK. Several places claimed to have the Gig Skinz, but they were lying :-) Then I came across the Protec Small mixer case. As with the Gig Skinz, it's really for a DJ's mixer, but also fits many of the common digital bass amps such as GB Streamliner and Shuttle, Little Mark etc. I have a Protec Contego bass case and love it (the Mono M80 is currently gathering dust in the loft), so know the quality is good. And it works out a bit cheaper. I got it from Thomann: http://www.thomann.d..._mixer_case.htm I suppose the "1212" in the name refers to the internal dimensions being about 12" squared. Well, I got it, and am very happy. As you can see from the pics, it fits the Streamliner perfectly front to back, and there is some space on the sides, but no movement due to the sturdy, soft Velcro strap. I'm also pleased to report that it is even more sturdy than the Contego case! I don't know whether Protec have upped their game recently, but the main zip is mega heavy duty, and I'm super confident that the head is protected. The inside is that kind of 'egg carton' foam, and this was not obvious from the website. Works well though. Other than that, it has sturdy feet on the bottom (opposite the handle), has a pocket for cables and stuff (not padded, so no delicates in there) and a dinky phone pocket on the side. There is also a detachable shoulder strap, and the label says this can convert to a backpack strap, but I've not bothered trying this. So that's it. I've not seen this mentioned anywhere, so though it might be useful for those looking for an amp case in this time of Gig Skinz drought.
9.
Let us know when your repeat booking is coming up. I'm near-ish to Bromsgrove and it would be great to see you play.
Nice one Shell, it would be great if you could come. I think it's September sometime but I'll confirm and let you know nearer the time Chris

11.
Streamer's gone dude The 83 Jazz is now my main squeeze. Thanks for the comments, so glad you like it!
Well, it looks and sounds great! Just checked out the original on spotify, and I must say, I prefer the KR version - especially the drums, which give the whole thing a darker, more primal feel
12. I don't know the original, but that is great. I love the video too. Were they afraid the chrome streamer would upstage Kit?
13.
I just realised, take a look at Discreet's latest avatar. You wouldn't need to call him - Mr Spock could just beam him down...
Uhura?
14. More reggae greatness: Firstly, some not-too-subtle innuendo from Max Romeo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB1T3vlnWHs And some superb British reggae: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z3YWiuzcSE
15. I was holding back listening to this until I had the proper headphones out, and I'm glad I did! - great stuff Shep
16.
I never figured what NWA had against them. Was it some dispute over sample clearance or something?
:-D
17. We played the Hop Pole Inn, Bromsgrove last night for the first time. A great little pub where the landlord has a passion for live music and all the regulars love it too! Eleven songs in our set were played for the first time live! Considering this, all went well, and we had lots of great feedback and a repeat booking later in the year.
18. That sofa's fantastic - how much for that?
19. Tobias Growler? Edit, I concur with WC :-)
20.
So, that theory is disproved neatly and quickly.
:-D
21. As well as the extra range and the positioning advantage, I like the way you can play lines further up the neck but in the same key. For example, I play a certain song in G (3rd fret E String) on my four. When I use the five, I have the additional option of playing it on the 8th fret of the B String, which has a softer, deeper tone.
22.
I've found boosting the Gain gives a deeper sound. I'm not interested in distortion so I'm short of that (and have an old ECC81 in V1 to calm things down a bit) but giving the Gain control a bit of wallop does seem to give a deeper sound.
I've not played around with the gain much (kept getting told to STFU at the rehearsal) but will give that a try. Love a bit of valve swapping too. Cheers.
23. At last night's rehearsal, the guitarist said to the singer not to be afraid to 'rewind' if things go wrong at a gig, ie stop the song, and do it again properly. I was surprised, as I'm from the 'keep on going, don't draw attention to it'' school. What do you think the punters would prefer?
24. Don't buy it. It's those f***ing grey squirrel guitars that are to blame for the lack of red squirrel guitars. If I were the maker, I'd have it so that you insert the lead's jack up it's arse. That'll teach it.
