1. Welcome to Basschat Rob :-)
2.
Wasn't there a story here about some buyer? Got the seller to pick him up from the station, tried the item, lovely stuff, got the seller to drive him to an ATM to get the cash, went back to the seller's house and then said "Nah! Changed my mind." Or was I dreaming?
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/122836-thursday-was-a-very-strange-day-for-me/page__p__1125922__hl__mx5%20train__fromsearch__1#entry1125922
3. I caught him on the Craig Charles 6Music show last night. Really interesting, an incredible number of hits. Plus the chance to listen to several songs worth of BE bass magic :-)
4. The venue is great, but off the beaten track. As you say, they need some sort of marketing to get the place known. Re. The pics, really really good. As photogenic as you and your bass are, I must admit, I find my eye constantly drawn towards your guitarist :-)
5. I've read a lot about people not liking certain strings because of the high tension. I don't get it - why would you want floppy strings? The only reason I can hint of is bending, but otherwise, what is the advantage of lower tension?
6. He's not annoying, he's just at the wrong gig :-) FYI, if you see some mocking comments, it's because this video has gained infamy due to multitudinous postings on BC I'm going to watch it again, though, for old time's sake :-)
7. The OP asks why they sound the same as eachother. I think that the environmental and cultural influences are key. Just like any other group of people with common interests, these people will tend to be friends, have the same tutors, go to the same Jam nights etc. The more they are listening to the same stuff, picking up chops from eachother and frequenting the same You Tube channels, the more their styles will sound similar, subconsciously or not. As others have suggested, it takes someone with a fresh and adventurous attitude to really produce something, well, fresh and adventurous. These people will take their influences as a building block to create something original. Only dead fish swim downstream ;-) BTW, love that Mars Volta vid, I'll be checking out more of their stuff, thanks.
8. Sounds like an awful 'incident'. Good luck with the search and hope all gets better with your other half soon.
9. A fine gig, thanks BRX. The Terrortones were great/bonkers/tight/entertaining. Nice to see a new live music venue in Nottingham too.
10. As far as I can tell, the difference lies in the superior magnetic properties of the cobalt (if the tenuious graphs are to be believed) so it's more to do with the way in which the string and pickup work together, and consequently the tone. I don't recall any blurb about them being especially long-lasting.
11. Painting the bedroom with the iPod on Shuffle: Johnny Cash, Beatles(Day in the Life), Aerosmith (Love in an Elevator), King Tubby, Monster Magnet, NuYorican Soul. Brilliant.

Hello

Welcome to Basschat :-)
13. I can't get the back off, but have removed the control plate and had a peek. Firstly, they are Legend, not Delta and very different looking from behind. The one with the extra cone has a wire mesh hole of approx. 20mm diameter on the back. Wiring seems very straightforward. Two wires, +ive and -ive go from speaker in question > other speaker > 1/4 jack socket > speakon socket Edit - just found this. looks like it's a 'Whizzer cone' http://en.wikipedia....l-range_speaker
14. This is my 2x10. I've had it for years and love it. With the silver cloth grille removed, you can see that one of the speakers has an odd extra inner cone. Any ideas what it does? Both of the drivers say Eminence Delta on the back. I'd ask the maker, but he has disappeared after a nasty alleged "took-money-didn't-produce-the-goods" internet bashing. He's always been great with me, and with the weak dollar at the time, I got a lovely cab at a good price.
15.
I agree with Clarky , relative to other instruments , basses are dirt cheap . Just sold an Alleva Coppola back to Happy jack for £2 to fund getting a better classical guitar .
I'll give you £4 for it HJ :-)
16. I got a set for my new five string. I don't have a huge experience with roundwounds, but have had Elites, R Cocco, regular EBs, Rotosound, Fodera, maybe one or two others. Anyway, these are really really nice. I read a review somewhere that they are not massively bright, more mid-focused, and I'd tend to agree. Just right for me.
17. Yeah, great music. Robert looks fine from a distance? I must say though, that they sound absolutely spot on.
18. Cool. I'll try to persuade some mates to come, but it not I'll be there on my tod. This is my 1000th post. Do I get a free drink? :-)
19. I should be able to pop in BRX. Do you know what time you're on yet?
20. I think it was because they were live songs which became really popular with the fans, so it made sense to do a studio version when making the greatest hits album.
