1.
An easily modded foible! Perhaps cheaper to just put it in a TB looper if you're not handy with a soldering iron .
I could resolder a broken connection, but that's about it. No idea what a TB looper is.
2. I sold my older model (boxed and good nick) for £100 on BC a few weeks ago. It didn't hang around for long! It's a great pedal, very versatile, with great octave (above and below), distortion and wah type sounds. My only slight beef was that it was not true bypass.
3.
Ta lar! Bumped into Neckie last night, well, I say bumped into him. I didn't know who he was... He turned up in a luton outside the studio, I thought he'd come to rob us! You'll have to let me know when you're next playing out.
Yeah - that Neckie's a dodgy looking git Re. gigs, all we need is a name (although going under the working title of The Droplegs), a demo (recording tomorrow at Paper Stone) and some bookings (hopefully the previous two action points will help with that) then we'll get some live reggae action going. I can't wait.
4. I'll add to the many who would like to see DVATTT. I've planned to go a few times but event have conspired otherwise. I think Our Helical Mind sound interesting. I've been to see Big John with his originals band, which was really good.
5. "One after 909" works really well with a duo. Upbeat and great vocal harmonies.
6. Nice one - hope it takes off. Having traded in my Stingray for a P, I popped into a cafe/bar on the way home for a coffee. There were some guys setting up to play, they noticed my instrument case, we started chatting and I ended up playing with them in an extremely enjoyable jazz/funk band for a few years.
7.
Lovely I can't see prices in the links?
Mesa Boogie Bass Prodigy, bass head, 30/120 watts class A/B - EUR1885 Mesa Boogie Bass Strategy, bass head, 60/150/300 watts class A/B - EUR2855 I balked at the aesthetic at first, then warmed a bit to their 50's vibe, although it could be a lot more subtle. What's a 'solo' control? Isn't that cheating a bit?
8. Gutted! Hope you get it sorted soon! BTW, nice busty winged lady
9. Prices are low for used Warwicks at the moment, so unless he really needs the money, I'd say hold on for a couple of years and see if the market picks up. Also, by that time, he may fallen love with it all over again and not want to sell.
10. That's one of the nicest basses I've seen for a long time. Congrats.
11. - I was watching the Jungle book with my daughter the other day, check out the beautiful tone at the start of the vultures scene. That. - 'Music To Interrogate By' from the Bullitt soundtrack (played by Carol Kaye) - Boogie on Reggae Woman - Stevie Wonder's Moog - Anything by Aston Family Man Barrett
12. Hi, Very nice. You may have more luck selling in the EUB/Double Bass section
13. Play without a top on, or one the same colour as the strap
14.
So being from the north....
The north in which country?
15.
I don't know what the black one is but it's not a Bison - there's no "Wild Dog" switch! And it's not pointy enough.
Yeah, looking at it again, you're totally right - don't know where I got that notion from
16. I heard them on a redio session last night and was late for rehearsal as I had to sit in the car and listen till the end of the song! Cool video too - I especially like the slow-mo bass string thing around 3:05 I think the black one is a Burns Black Bison, the red one looks to have 'Vox' written on the pups, but unsure about the other one. Where's Big Red X when you need him?
17. Anyone heard of this band? A refreshing take on Jazz IMO. Anyone able to identify all four basses in the video?
18. Thanks for this thread. I've always had input gain high and adjusted the volume via master volume. After reading this thread, I thought I'd try it the other way round at practice tonight. Sounds great!
19. Lovely stuff! A superb looking rig - great to hear that you've found your ideal gear
20.
Lakeland – worst than Fender
You sure you weren't playing a saucepan? Try a Lakland instead
21.
A device that slows the rythem down without changing the pitch seems a fantastic practice tool to me, any further info on this would be greatfully received will look at amplitube as advised above. 22. I love Toots, but have only recently come across this gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_IaoQxZMQ4
23. Hi, The 'damp cloth' effect will appear when you apply a clear finish. What wood is it - ash? alder?. Either way, but especially with ash,you will need to fill the grain of the wood before you apply the lacquer (that is if you want a smooth finish). The trick is finding a grain filler which looks ok with your wood, aqnd even then creating a smooth finish is no picnic! I'd avoid wax, as it will create a layer which the lacquer won't want to stick to. Your easiest option is oil, as Mr Torch has suggested. Hope this helps
