1. I worked out my perfect strap length from an adjustable strap, then sent the dimensions to Bear Straps, who made a lovely simple quality leather one for me.
2. Isn't the Oral Exciter control effectively a mid scoop?
3. I had a funny one with a SWR combo. Back in 98 The Bass Centre had a deal on new Bassic Black 1x15 combos. RRP £799 but on offer at £519 something like that. When it arrived, the centre of the speaker didn't have the SWR logo on it like in the pictures (in the Bassist magazine ad) No biggie, and we had a lacklustre few years together. The speaker went one day and the repair guy who replaced it said that what was in there was a "cheap EV" speaker. I emailed SWR and they said that they had never used EV speakers in their cabs. All quite odd..
4. +1 for the Mastotron - a really great fuzz and it'll work with active basses too. Some find the horizontal format a PITA though
5. Paint it and stick a scratchplate on it and you're golden
6.
Interesting, although doesn't that run into the expression in of another pedal? Si
Sorry yes, that's what I meant by being 'possibly useful in conjunction with other pedals' If you control it with a LPF, the possibilities are huge, depending on what you put before the LPF.
7. If you have a spare week, there are endless wubs of useful information here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/72012-drum-n-bassdubstep/page__hl__dubstep
8. Possibly useful in conjunction with other pedals, the Copilot Broadcast has that rise/cut pattern, as depicted in the fully clockwise setting [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/broadcastscreen_zpsw424pimt.png" class="ipsImage" />
9. I found that the Warwick ones situate the amp quite far back into the case. Great for protection, not great if you want to be able to see the knobs.
10.
I'd check out the UPS local collection and drop-off point carefully before using them. My local one is completely rubbish. I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time of day and certainly wouldn't want to risk anything valuable with them. On the other hand, the actual service I get from UPS itself and my local driver is exceptional.
Fyi I use Southglade convenience store, and they are fine.
11. Many rate the Orange Biscuit Tin really highly. I suppose it's a matter of personal taste - I struggled to get a tone I liked from it. It's not a flexible amp, so if the baked-in tone is your thing, great.
12.
Isn't that 'alpacakiller'?
Alpacas are actually rather large and very wooly
13. I always understood that this happened to kids who didn't drink enough milk
14. You might find some info here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/282531-digitech-dirty-robot-synth/page__pid__3076005#entry3076005
15. Yes correct - it's like a pickup selector knob: -fully clockwise = 100% p pickup -Turn it a tenth way round, and you get 90% p pickup/10% J pickup -Halfway = 50/50 split -Fully anticlockwise = 100% j pickup and everything inbetween. Hope that makes sense.
16. Here you go thought I'd plug it in to recharge while I was at it. The red LED goes green when charged. [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/20160709_195404_zpsvkipk565.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> The size of the internal battery... 17. I have a PJ with active/passive East P Retro and the internal rechargeable battery (blendable between the two pups). Will try to get a pic taken
18.
What sort of pedals do you run through the blue rock?
I usually play clean - mostly reggae. The BR has the nicest boosted bass EQ tone I have ever encountered. I use a Xerograph LPF for ultra deep stuff. Also a Subterrenea for distorted synth tones. And a mixture of both controlled by a Hot Hand for super synthy sweeps. The drive section on the BR is very musical/valve like, and gets quite (but not mega) dirty. This drive section has its own separate gain and voice controls. The drive can be switched in and out with a button or a foot switch (optional extra)
19.
If you want to be able to switch between Sabbath and Marcus instantly, there's only one head which can do that...the Magellan.
Seriously? Are you being literal or hyperbolic?
20. Next we'll get BCer Limelight looking for a Nash bass
21. I have the Blue Rock and it is superb. I can't see a situation where I would ever change it. Highly recommended.
22.
I found the EBS Multicomp to be completely underwhelming despite the glowing reputation it seems to have. I'm a big fan of compression, especially subtle compression, as well as mulit-band compression. (Just thought I'd throw that in there to clarify that I'm not one of those guys who doesn't 'get' compressors ) So on paper, the Multicomp should have been perfect for what I like. But no matter what I did with it, I just couldn't get anything from it, it was too subtle at every setting and made no perceivable difference either when the bass was on its own or with the rest of the band. Nothing. And also annoying are the internal trim pots to adjust the individual high on low compression thresholds (I think that's what they were for) even tweaking those to each extreme yielded no results. Not to mention the fact that if you wanted to tweak them mid gig it's pretty much not an option - unless the rest of the band are really understanding. No matter what I did with it, it was though the pedal was not in my signal path. And the tube sim mode, while it did add a little something to the tone, it was definitely a little something. I found myself switching it in and out and trying to spot the difference. You'd certainly never notice it in a band situation. Not for me, that one.
Exactly the same for me - then I sold it on and the guy loved it! Much happier with my Fairfield Accountant
23. Next up is Green Meadows festival. [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/FB_IMG_1462025336850_zpsq0o3wahb.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
