FENDER 1974 all-original JAZZ BASS (authentic CLASSIC)
Roland Rock replied to cameet's topic in Basses For Sale
Looks like that was right around the time they moved it. I think It was down below so that you could rest your fingers on it and play with your thumb, which was what Leo F originally envisiged electric bass players doing. Must get some pics of my "Hawaiian Shirt" themed paintjob on my Marlin Sidewinder

Beatufil vintage ANTORIA JAZZ BASS MIJ '70s - BARGAIN!!!

Great demo. I have one of these and use it to push my valve amp a bit more, as the output from my P is quite low. As Dave says, it does 'valve clean' very nicely. The DI is great too, for both recording and gigs.

It's good that it's a proper departure from stock Warwicks. The last Warwick one seemed like a lazy attempt to Bootsify an Infinity imo. As far as price is concerned, maybe £4.5k?

It was at a function at a hotel in Loughborough circa '94. We practiced that morning and I snapped the E string. Being both skint and inexperienced, I bought a single replacement E string, and couldn't understand why it sounded so 'zingy' compared to the rest. Not that it mattered, the gig was chaos but great fun.

SOLD Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synthesiser
Roland Rock replied to Roland Rock's topic in Effects For Sale

I'm selling my EHX Bass Microsynth. It's in good condition. I bought it new and it's only been gigged a couple of times, the rest being home use. It has a small scratch under the second 'S' of 'synthesiser', otherwise, it's as I bought it. It comes with the original box, PSU and the sheet of suggested settings (on which I've filled in a bit on the 'custom' section) £100 plus P&P I'm open to interesting pedal trades with cash my way if appropriate.

There's a token website and Facebook page still up and running, but not much activity. They were trading normally about six months ago, but it all seems to have gone pear-shaped since then.

Google 'EarCandy Cabs' and you get some very interesting reading! http://www.facebook....254175571294651 http://www.gearslutz...y-cabs-com.html I've actually got one of these (the 2x10 'SweetTooth') and love it (see sig). It's a tad heavy, but very solid and sounds great. My only beef is that the oxblood vinyl covering tears quite easily (I've got a cover for it now) It was built to order with good communication and pictures throughout the build process, and good customer service from the infamous Tim. I don't suppose you can argue with that much bad publicity - I guess I must have been one of the lucky ones. I doubt it will ever sell, though, but that's not really a problem as I love it. Anyone else have any experience with this company?

Most hateful song on your covers bands set list?
Roland Rock replied to Dave Tipping's topic in General Discussion
'Midnight at the Oasis' was one of the reasons I turned a band offer down. I can't stand that song. I know it's great bass playing etc. but my irrational loathing of the song would spoil any bassline-playing enjoyment. I'm happy to play a 'dull' bassline, as long as it serves the song well and I like the song. -
Great poster! What time do you reckon you'll be on stage?

More relevant to fretless, but this is from the blurb for the Pedulla Buzz: "Its polyester-finished fingerboard is glass-smooth, giving the Buzz its distinctive voice, while protecting the ebony from the rigors of performance and round wound strings"
Looks like ebony stain and either waxed or finishing oil to seal it.
This. Plus you don't need to bother with grain filler. I'd imagine that heavily grained finish is pretty much exclusive to wide-grained woods like ash. What's your project bass body made from? edit: Ou7shined got in before me, and says more or less the same thing but with better visual aids

What about Xotic Bass or Univox or Ural note: Univox must be played in your pyjamas as per demo

If the Pre EB Ray is the perfect 4 stringer, I don't get why you'd rather keep the Jazz. If the Jabba plays/sounds as good as it looks, I'd ditch the Jazz and the 2002 Ray4 and get that. edit: Plus, you can't be called StingrayPete and not have a Pre EB!
-
You won't like this, but I've never heard of Budgie! I'll check them out and also look out for your gigs
-
Good work, looks great. I'd go for the aged white and the chrome covers, especially with the maple board
-
Good luck. I'm very jealous, as I've been looking out for opportunities to play with a reggae band in Nottingham, with no success. No further advice other than what's been said already. BTW, slightly off topic, but if anyone can point me in the direction of a good, detailed guide to the differences between reggae, roots and rocksteady, I'd be grateful.

Medeski, Martin and Wood are pretty cool and Azimuth has a history but a lot of this stuff is not really on the radar of the average Jazzer.
That's quite a list! Not heard Stereo MCs for ages. Fat Freddy's Drop are great. Bilbo, I'd be interested to hear your opinion on Snowboy, a latin jazz percussionist and def one of the jazzier ones on the label.
Here is the gig guide for the Star at Bentworth. This is a very small country pub in rural Hampshire. Definitely a gig that’s off the radar for all but local-ish bands. Check out the gear in the photos; GB, Warwick, Mesa Boogie. "Decent gear” is getting gigged all over. It's a funny one, in that there is the label, with a very diverse range of styles, and there's the genre, which is along the jazzy pop lines of Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Gallianio etc.
