1.
Nighthawks at The Diner is a must.
Cheers for the suggestions. My only problem now is deciding which genre to put him into in iTunes; there's rock, blues, Cuban, jazz, all sorts
2. 'Rain Dogs' album by Tom Waits -Tom is a new discovery for me and it's a superb album
3. Shouting about 'No Reserve' then starting it at £2k is just stupid
4.
Wow they must be made from uber tough stuff not to snap under torsion at that size.
It's never snapped, but I've rarely used that tiny one. The tapered tip of the extractor only needs to get a grip on the head, so the shaft size can be bigger than that of screw.
5.
The smallest extractor there is 4mm. That's bigger than the screw head it's self. (let alone trying to drill down one )
Sorry, didn't check the sizes of the example. My set goes to 1.25 mm. I'm on my phone now but will try to post a more appropriate link later
6. I do furniture restoration and face this prob often; a screw extractor should sort you out Drill a pilot hole into the offending screw, and screw in the 'remover', which is reverse threaded to it'll loosen the screw rather than tighten it.
7.
I look much less like a bassist these days I'm sad to say.....................I'm pissed, sweaty and pulling a stupid face.
Sounds like every bassist I know
8. £90 quid now
9. Thanks for the replies. The most interesting trade is the raft. PM me your details and the strings are yours, sir. I was thinking that rather than it gathering dust on my shelf, I have a mission for you, should you choose to accept: 1:Tape a £1 coin to the deck of the raft (you'd have spent that on P&P anyway) 2:Launch her down the nearest stream/river 3:Hopefully make someone's day
10.
The Capri Orange P bass looks the dogs nads!
Cheers Clarky, after years of bare ash, it feels very fresh and funky. Love your pic - I take it that was the smaller set earlier on? Looks like your headstock skull is singing into the mike
11. Even this guy's floorboards are flamed - obviously a person of quality and taste!
12. I've not participated in this thread yet, but have just been sent some pics from our set at the Rock n Bike Festival at the weekend, so here you go
13. Thanks for the trade offers. I'll mull it over and post tomorrow.
14. Come on folks, lovely though this raft is, I'd like a bit of choice - an old cd or something?
15. +1 for the Roq Solid. If anyone's interested, here are some pics of mine, with the "belly flap" option.
16.
This home made raft. No glue whatsoever.
You're leading the race by a country mile with your fine vessel, sir. I'll give it till the end of the weekend before closing the race.
17.
As they will be re-fins whatever colour you choose, it makes no difference whether you go original colour or not IMHO. Forget that they were both oly white and go for whatever colours you like best. I vote for a fiesta red P (a la Pino) and a sonic blue or seafoam green J
+1 Go for the colour you like best. I did the exact same thing with my 78p recently; it was originally white but stripped when I bought it - I researched colours available at the time and ended up painting it Capri Orange! No regrets. (If interested, the pre and post facelift pics are in the first two links of my sig) For yours, I'm a big fan of Sonic blue, especially with the covers on
18. I was lucky enough to receive a subscription to BGM for my birthday, and unexpectedly a set of these strings landed on my doormat. I'll never use them, as I'm a flats man through and through. Most interesting trade offer and they are yours.
19. Playing order is finalised - we're on at 7pm, just before the pole dancers!
20.
I'd like to show off my little family, including the latest acquisition (bottom). Please excuse the Warwick, she knows her place isn't in this thread
That's a lovely black beauty. The fretboard looks an unusual colour - is that just the light? Also the fretboard looks to have some interesting figuring on the wood.
21.
Absolutely wonderfu job and one of my favourite colours. I can't tell from the images (I can see one or two silver screws) but I'd go for all black screws in the plate - I'm pretty sure that the Capri Orange basses in the International Series came with black screws.
Cheers Loz. The screws (apart from the pup cover ones) are the originals, so are steel in various stages of tarnishment. I reckon I'll try to get hold of some black ones to complete the look.
22. I've just given my 78 P a facelift (It had previously been stripped to the bare ash) It's now Capri Orange!
23. Job done! It's not perfect, but for my first paint job, I'm more than chuffed, almost giddy (bear in mind that this has been my one and only bass for the last ten years). If anyone is playing/attending the Rock n Bike Festival, Leics, look out for my Capri Orange beauty on the main stage, just before A Foreigners' Journey and the pole dancers!
24. I'll send a stack of BGMs for postage. PM me.
25. Any ideas what this is?
