1. Spanky Van Dykes in Nottingham, with Trojan Soundsystem. Funny setup as the stage is shallow and the DJ desk was where the drums would normally go. The DJ's specs for their decks included eight squash balls, four concrete slabs and horsehair matting/special foam - apparently this is the best base to protect the decks and their hifi cartridges from the huge swathes of vibrating bass. Decent turnout and good reception. Paid gig plus beer. Win. Trojan were great, especially Supa4, their blind MC on the mic. 2. Sorry if it's been mentioned - Anyone catch the set from Mbongwana Star? Love the way the set really builds in energy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03yggrf/glastonbury-2016-mbongwana-star Who the hell was that young chap in rainbow outfit and silver shorts? Some trendy electronic trio? Seemed popular, but to me sounded like a mediocre X Factor contestant trying to be Justin Bieber.
3. I love the look of the Roland TB3 - looks like a great bit of kit
4. My £4k custom 9 string left-handed headless with gold hardware and Gary Glitter artwork. Lost a bit on that. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
5. Yeah, this subject again - some of the comments get pretty abrasive
6. Are you a basschatter, Seb? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153411332586653&id=721466652
7. Looks interesting Ped. Can't seem to find these for sale? Is the pickup included with the system?
8.
My favourites. . . . Toots and the Maytals
Hoping to support them later in the year - fingers crossed!
9. Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey Steel Pulse - Handsworth Revolution Both well worth a listen FWIW my favourite Bob Marley album is Natty Dread
10. I've had some experimentation with synthy stuff. You'll need the following: - Synthy dirt. Octaves are good for this, also consider gated fuzz. - Filter. I prefer to use a standalone Low Pass Filter - Means to control the filter sweep. This could be built into the filter (envelope filter) or controlling a LPF with an external toy. I have a few toys for this: an expression pedal, an LFO and a Hot Hand (lots of fun!) Here's a little demo of the LFO I did a while back. I have since replaced the expression pedal with a Hot Hand. http://youtu.be/UpdfBUES_XQ
11. Nice! If it's about the looks, what head are you putting on your TenMountain?
12. 13.
He was for about two minutes before he got horribly insulted by forum regulars and decided to not come back.
Really? My memory is different. He posted in three threads was welcomed by some and one asked him a question about one of his basses. No abuse whatsoever.
14. I used a U5 plus power amp for my rig for a couple of years - a gorgeous clean tone, although not much flexibility outside the tone presets (unless you can programme presets into the power amp)
15. Just watched the video and really enjoyed it. Will check out the other stuff when I get the chance.
16.
Trades added for 4/5 string basses only W.H.Y.
W.H.Y?
17. You can get a better idea from the pot codes and the neck heel stamp. Also, it's worth noting that Fender did two runs of the S8 serial number, one in 78 and one in 80. The 80 has a slightly enlarged '8'
18. Yeah, I had a great sounding and well built 79. As others had said, it was heavy (11.5lbs) but it wasn't really an issue.
19. [Img] http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/FB_IMG_1465889583145_zpsau9foc3m.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
20. If one hadn't read the thread, it would be forgivable to assume that the above picture shows a dangling straight Speakon
21.
@ Wilco. Thank you. What's the weight, please?
8lbs
22.
I understand millenials don't like criticism. Blue
Millenials don't like racism or homophobia either That's one way to put it Blue. Another would be that society has progressed quite a bit in the last half century in some areas. As stated previously in the thread, a more progressive and positive method works well when trying to get results from people. Of course, as with all things human nature, it's about balance. Criticism is essential, but there are positive ways to present it.
23. Found a couple of shots of the Capri:
24.
It's a win, loved my amp one and the customer services from AER were second to none. I bought mine second hand off basschat, it was about six years old and it developed a farty fault, I sent it off to AER for repair, they had it for a while and couldn't actually find the fault, so they sent me a brand new one back free of charge, now that's customer service!
Wow! That's fantastic
25. I did a proper International Series Capri Orange refin/overhaul to a P a few years back - looked great! I'll try to dig out some pictures later on.
