Looks great, I agree about the knobs though. That Plexi P you have next to it is just awesome! How much does it weigh??
Yeah, good call re knobs. Might try some. Haha. It's the lightest late 70s P in history!

So, I had a piece of aluminium plate hanging about after I had bought it and then realised I didn't need it, so thought why not make a scratchplate for my Ergon 5? 1: Use original plate to draw the shape onto the aluminum (with protective film) It just about fits! [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_103725_zpsm8aefk1o.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 2: Drill the screwholes. Spot the genuine WW1 machine gun! [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_104435_zpsoq6dxrgz.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 3: Use double sided tape to stick it to a square of ply to help reduce vibrations when cutting 4: What's the best bandsaw blade for metal? Whatever it is, I dont have one, so have to use the jigsaw. Rough round the edges but I can tidy it up with a file: [IMG]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_113318_zps2zgzinzj.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 5: Tidy it up with flat and round files: [IMG]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_113333_zpsvlrhizxc.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 6: Then make it cleaner still with sandpaper (150 then 240 grit fone for the mat finish I'm after) [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_122229_zpsfz98lzzg.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 7: The peel and reveal: [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150721_125108_zpsrxk9s9rv.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> 8: And it fits! One of the sides of the lower pickup aperture is a bit squiffy after some overzealous filing, but it's not bad: [IMG]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-07/20150722_143439_zpsy1w0zcvk.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Of course, now that it's on, I'm not sure I like it! Maybe it will take a while to acclimatise.

We only have two covers that we trot out occasionally - Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin, and lovers rock classic 6th Street by Louisa Marks. Both go down really well. -
You mention chromatic runs in the OP; this is a good example of playing a note 'outside' the scale and it working well. If you are doing a chromatic run (containing an outside note, most do) leading up to a very safe note and time (eg root note on the one) then the run sounds fine, especially if there is very little emphasis on the 'outside' note. As Bilbo says, it's all about context of the note within the phrase. Edit: sorry if this is a bit 'playschool' and you were after something more advanced 😳

An illustrator friend turned up and sketched the band members at our Farnstock gig today:

Loving this energetic tirade by Asian Dub Foundation: http://youtu.be/ZUQSzaq4rb8 -
I know I posted this in a separate thread, but though it was a good little rundown of my mini pedalboard so might be apt here: http://youtu.be/UpdfBUES_XQ
The entire 3rd run is sold through as well. Every bass is going straight to a customer. I think the 4th will follow really close behind it. We have a big retail launch coming soon. Just waiting on the mods to find out if I can post the details on one of the forums on here. - Stephen
Great news. Well done!
Yes I thought they were great too. But I wanted to see THEM rocking, not a plethora of annoying blonde bimbos, and the backs of peoples heads. If I'd wanted to get glimpses of them through a massive crowd I could have gone to the event itself. And then when they do show you what's actually happening on the stage, you get a close-up of the drummers left ear or something. I really hate unnecessary close- ups when you want to see the whole band. Same with close ups of dancer's feet or individual flowers at the Chelsea Flower show. Let's have the whole picture! I need another lie-down now!
Not often you see a joint Prodigy/Chelsea Flower Show rant

Seems like a nice bass at a nice price, especially with new Nexus strings. Less than a day to go. The auction ends on a sunny Saturday at 13:40 - lots of people out and about. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Guitar-cort-G-series-/271930552348?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f5052f01c

It seems that the mains chargable thing is standard with the P Retro, which forms part of this preamp (this one also has pickup blend) http://www.east-uk.com/index.php/bass/p-retro/p-retro.html Edit: Just discovered that there is an LED in the cavity. Handy for charging as it turns from red to green when fully charged.
Must have a good rummage next time I'm in a barn...
Isn't that how you got arrested last time?

Both the Fender and the Squier JVs in the Gallery belong to BCer Pierre Ganseman. He's pretty knowledgeable on these things, so maybe shoot him a PM
I really like it. How does the mains charging thing work? Never heard of that before
Cheers. There's a small rechargeable battery in the compartment. The bass comes with a plug/transformer connected to a 1/4" jack, so you just insert the jack into the bass' jack socket, plug into the mains and leave for a few hours. <img src="" />

It's not often I get a new bass; the last time was three years ago, and before that it was 2001, but I thought it was time to have a play on fretless. I love Wood & Tronics basses. Not so much the exotic wood topped ones, but Enrico has a tremendous eye for the 'classic with quirky twist' which really resonates with me. My Ergon 5 has been my main gigging bass since i bought it, so when I saw this, I had to go for it. It's the EJ model, which, as you may guess, is W&T's take on the Jazz bass. This has a worn finish - not relic'd like it has been played to death, but more a kind of 'barn find' aged effect (just made that up) which I really love. Info as follows: - Alder body - 3 piece ash neck with angled maple headstock capped with some fancy wood - Tasmanian blackwood lined fretless board with brass side markers - Brass Nut - Hipshot Lollipop tuners - Mama P and J pups - East/W&T preamp which is basically an East P Retro blendable between both pups. Mains chargeable via jack socket. Active/Passive. - Ebony Control knobs I still need to have a proper amplified practice, but it is very comfortable to play, and sounds gorgeous. I think I'm going to enjoy fretless! And pics:

Someone asked me for a demo of my Broadcast LFO pedal, so I thought I'd chuck it up on YouTube for anyone who is interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpdfBUES_XQ

Yeah, if you can live with it, don't throw money at it! A neck like that that won't be cheap or easy to correct. If you really want to have one with a straight neck whilst being a few hundred quid worse off, buy another one! Then you'll have a sellable bass AND a useable backup

+1 for Radial. Top quality

The bog standard diameter of a guitar lead, eg Kloz AC110 or the Vandamme equivalent is fine for the pancake type plugs.

Can't wait to see it! Will it technically be a vintage instrument by the time you take delivery?
