So, I had a piece of aluminium plate hanging about after I had bought it and then realised I didn't need it, so thought why not make a scratchplate for my Ergon 5? 1: Use original plate to draw the shape onto the aluminum (with protective film) It just about fits! We only have two covers that we trot out occasionally - Police and Thieves by Junior Murvin, and lovers rock classic 6th Street by Louisa Marks. Both go down really well.

You mention chromatic runs in the OP; this is a good example of playing a note 'outside' the scale and it working well. If you are doing a chromatic run (containing an outside note, most do) leading up to a very safe note and time (eg root note on the one) then the run sounds fine, especially if there is very little emphasis on the 'outside' note. As Bilbo says, it's all about context of the note within the phrase. Edit: sorry if this is a bit 'playschool' and you were after something more advanced 😳

Handy for charging as it turns from red to green when fully charged.

It's not often I get a new bass; the last time was three years ago, and before that it was 2001, but I thought it was time to have a play on fretless. I love Wood & Tronics basses. Not so much the exotic wood topped ones, but Enrico has a tremendous eye for the 'classic with quirky twist' which really resonates with me. My Ergon 5 has been my main gigging bass since i bought it, so when I saw this, I had to go for it. It's the EJ model, which, as you may guess, is W&T's take on the Jazz bass. This has a worn finish - not relic'd like it has been played to death, but more a kind of 'barn find' aged effect (just made that up) which I really love. Info as follows: - Alder body - 3 piece ash neck with angled maple headstock capped with some fancy wood - Tasmanian blackwood lined fretless board with brass side markers - Brass Nut - Hipshot Lollipop tuners - Mama P and J pups - East/W&T preamp which is basically an East P Retro blendable between both pups. Mains chargeable via jack socket. Active/Passive. - Ebony Control knobs I still need to have a proper amplified practice, but it is very comfortable to play, and sounds gorgeous. I think I'm going to enjoy fretless! And pics:

Yeah, if you can live with it, don't throw money at it! A neck like that that won't be cheap or easy to correct. If you really want to have one with a straight neck whilst being a few hundred quid worse off, buy another one! Then you'll have a sellable bass AND a useable backup

The bog standard diameter of a guitar lead, eg Kloz AC110 or the Vandamme equivalent is fine for the pancake type plugs.
