1. Nooooooooooooooooo! You'll regret it Lee! Possibly the finest amp setup money can buy. and Lee is a great chap.
2.
I would put up with it, if I liked the sound and did not want to change it. Single coil hum has never really been much of an issue for me.
+1
3.
So which bass is best for fighting off polar bears?
[Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/rackbags/0541-1_zpsbgwwblpe.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
4. There's a detailed review here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/259224-orange-ob1-500-review/
5. I've never used a vol/vol tone setup, but I don't think I'd like it. I use vol/blend and it's great, but tbh I'd be just as happy with a three way switch instead of blend. Actually thinking about it a switch would be better as you can see at a glance what setting it is on.
6. I'd just stick a bamboo into a coconut. Instant Warwick Thumb.
7.
I'd take a fretless nine string. Stuck on the desert island, I'd have sufficient time to learn how to play it properly. And if I got bored of life on the island, I could use the strings to tie together bamboo poles to make a raft. (Yes, I know that this is actually a ten string).
And you'd never be short of fishing line
8.
Who sells it in Europe??
You mean mainland or does the UK count? http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/jule-monique-dove-cage/
9. It's a relief that he has paid for it - I was under the impression that you have been out of pocket for two years!
10. [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05/Screenshot_2015-05-22-09-34-37_zps0i96lliv.png" class="ipsImage" />
11. No guesses as to the asking price? I'll give you a clue - it's over a grand...
12. 'Heavily Modded' is an understatement - it has five strings!! Anyone want to guess how much it's up for? [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05/FB_IMG_1432283761721_zps7rc4ysig.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> [Img]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/christopher_brown14/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-05/FB_IMG_1432283857411_zpssvxium89.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
13. Not heard of it. Is it a new Join My Band type site?
14. Penn. Or Teller. One of them anyway
15. I have one of these on my board and use it all the time - so handy for kicking in more than one pedal at a time.
16.
The OP seems to have gone to sleep. And we still don't know what he wants to play. This is what I think of as Country these days (as opposed to the and Western type). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vulqnx4S7p4
There you go - all you need is a Pedulla Rapture five string 😆
17. I've neglected this so haven't been updating. Next up:
18. I played on a BCer's Sadowsky the other week, and couldn't believe how tight the strings felt. I was informed that they were Elixirs.
19. I like the 'hard on the outside, soft in the middle' method. Wrap the head up in lots of padding/bubblewrap on all sides, then put it in either a very sturdy cardboard box, or better yet a thin plywood box
20. And that example aside, yes you're right of course, too many notes can be a groove killer, and it's not always easy to get that perfect balance.
21. I'd agree with the OP in this case; the (superbly played) bassline is very driving, very Francis Rocco Prestia, but to me the song's groove is softer and more spacious than the bassline would suggest. Edit: listened again, and I think that the above still applies in the verses, but the chorus' have a different 'straighter' groove that is better matched with that bass playing
22.
I refuse to play any 12 bar blues - how many times can you play the same riff over and over (and over again)
😲 I suppose it depends on the song style, but 12 bar blues can be a carte blanch to have a play around the fretboard for a bit. Anyway, for me the song is 'How Long' by Ace. To be fair, the bassline is well suited to the song. ie very very dull
23. This one? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/262107-rip-bb-king/
